The Study on the improvement of dental technician practical examination II (치과기공사 실기시험 개선에 관한 조사 연구 II)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the improvement measures of dental technician practical examinations. Methods: A survey was performed on 37 professors through a questionnaire. The results were analyzed by SPSS 12.0. The collected data was analyzed by frequency and the chi-square test. Results: The education compared to the satisfaction of practice examinations only differs in the method of enforcement(p<.05). The evaluations on the ability to perform the job with practical subjects were inadequate (37.8%). Questions with the most necessary work tools through the articulator was highest at 48.7%, Electric wax carver was 32.4%, and heating clear was 3.5%. Conclusion: There must be an improvement to increase the cooperation within the clinical department, while considering the practical exam environment.

  • I choosed two hundred person of national female dental technician at random and researched the questional of 143 persons. So I came to the following conclusions. Most of them were in charge of porcelain part in dental laboratory and were mostly doing build-up of Porcelain part. When they choosed laboratory work, generally they inclined to choose their relatives and professor's introduction and because of their home they worked there. In these questions, laboratory work is the proper job for a women. Most of them thought that it was fairly good job. Many maiden ladies wanted to keep engaging in dental laboratory after they got married. In these questions, they want to open dental laboratory in the future, 40% of female dental technician want to do. They have alternative and positive ideas about dental prosthesis work.

  • Purpose: This report intend to provide basic materials of Musculoskeletal diseases prevention program development and preventive measures establishing by surveying Musculoskeletal symptoms. Musculoskeletal disease and Musculoskeletal disease prevention act about dental technician in Daegu. Methods: From October. 2012 to November. 2012 by conducting self - survey using questionnaire and use unit490 final analysis data. Results: In dental Technicians, as the musculoskeletal symptoms back or waist pain rate appear such as 28.2% and as the musculoskeletal disorders, the shoulder region pain complaint rate appear highly such as 87.4%. Musculoskeletal disease prevention act was highly appeared man more than women, the married than the unmarried, over 10 years dental experience, fewer working hours per day, the average monthly income is greater regular medical check-up dental technician than technician who do not. As working environment, In case working in laboratory whch dust is well ventilated and with a barrier, Musculoskeletal disease prevention act rate was highly appeared more than another technician who do not. Conclusion: We must prepare an effective preventive measures. To development Musculoskeletal disease prevention program suitable for dental technic working and make obliged to practice.

A Study on Demand and Supply of Dental Laboratory Technician in Korea (한국 치과 기공사의 인력수급)

  • In order to provide the better and more effective dental health service, the study for manpower of dental laboratory technician with some relevant factors such as institutions for education and training, employment status and distribution of technicians, etc. was carried out through survey for 3,885 licensed technicians during 1965 - 1985. Results were obtained through the study as follows: 1. There are 14 junior health colleges in Korea and 3,106(79.9%) licensed dental technicians out of 3,885 graduated from health colleges and rest of them obtained their licenses through practical training in dental clinics. 2. 8,030 applicants have applied to the national examination which was carried out for 22 times during 1965 - 1985. The passing rate in the examination for 22 times showed 48.3% in average. 3. The dental technicians are working mostly in 404 dental laboratories and 2,522 dental clinics and hospitals through out the country. However, most technicians are dominantly working in large citis, because 255 (63.1%) dental laboratories and 1,537 (60.9%) dental clinics and hospitals are mainly located in Seoul and Busan. 4. Regarding distribution of the dental technician, 1,126(52.1%) technicians have been employed in the dental institutions, however, 530 (24.5%) could not have a job and the rest of them (504 technicians: 23.3%) were in leave absence from military service, travelling abroad and unknown reasons. 5. Through reference review, it was found that there were 95,886 dental technician (9/ 100,000 population) in the world during 1973$\sim$1977. However, 91,553 dental technicians lived in the developed countries (14/100,000 population)) also ratio between the dentist and the dental technician in the world showde 1:0.38. In such coentries where per capita income showed $100 in average, the distribution of the dental technician showed 0.272 per 100,000 population. 6. In an estimation of demand and supply for the dental technicians by the year from 1985 through 1996 in Korea, the supply is estimated by the capacity of educational institutions as over-production even through such estimation based on the future incresing of GNP and ratio between the dentist and the dental technicianas and also ratio between the dental technician and general population. At present such ratio shows less compared with the developed contries, however, it is estimated as over-supply in 1994.

A Study on Improvement of Dental Technicians practical examination system (치과기공사 국가시험 실기시험 제도 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the improvement measure of dental technicians practical examination system. Methods: The subjects in this study were 290 dental technicians who were self-written questionnaire. The results were analyzed by SPSS 16.0. The collected data was analyzed by frequency and chi-square test. Results: Dental technician practical exam feasibility of survey were largely negative views. Articulators work required in practical exam as a tool used (28.7%), electric wax carver (19.5%), heating clear (17.8%), handpiece (16.2%) had a response. Dental Technician positions in accordance with practical exam in comparison to satisfaction, the professor is satisfied, but the clinical dental technicians were generally dissatisfied (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, Current is necessary to analyze the practical test. It also should be compared with foreign institutions. Long-term and short-term improvement examination system that can be applied to the improvement of the dental technician to draw practical test it is necessary to improve the system.

  • The study objected to the 36persons out of 55 persons who have registered under the association of the professor of department of Dental Laboratory Technology to grasp contents of May, 1992, and objected to the 74persons out of 100persons who have registered under the association of an a lumni of Department of dental Laboratory Technology, Jisan Junior college to grasp contents about improvement of dental laboratory technology, Jisan Junior College to grasp contents about improvement of the national practical examination in the dental technician of the present day of May, 1994 and its results which we have acquired by this study were as follows : There are lots of opinions who have required the necessities to enforce for a national practical examination in the dental technician. A sense of satisfaction forward the system of a national practical examination in the dental technician appeared as unsatisfaction and it's unsatisfaction decreased from evaluation me operation method, the makes of questions, selection of a markers, distribution of marks of a practical examination. The operation method of a practical examination have appeared the opinions which they wished the present system. A date of operation a practical examination have appeared the opinion of which they preferred late in February. The distribution of marks of a practical examination have appeared the opinions which they wished the present system. The problem of the makes of questions of carving test which derived by an out flow of cast appeared which 52.7 percent(58 persons), lack of objectivity and lack of a standard evaluation appeared which 40 percent(44 persons), and lastly appeared. 5.5 percent(6 persons) with partiality of a questions. The problem of the makes of question of Q-test which derived by lack of a standard evaluation appeared which 44.5 percent(49 persons), lack of objectivity appeared which 39.1 percent(43 persons).

The recognition of development plan and what to pursue in dental laboratory industry (치과기공산업 발전 방안 및 추구해야 할 방안에 관한 인식도)

  • Purpose: In order to increase competitiveness for the growth and development of the dental laboratory industry, we plan to develop the dental laboratory industry. Methods: A total of 547 questionnaires were used as the final analysis data for the dental technicians from all over country participated in the 51st Korea Dental Technology Expo & Scientific Conference of the Korean Dental Technologist Association held in KINTEX from July 18 to 19, 2015. The questionnaire items consisted of 28 items in terms of general characteristics, questions about the methods to be pursued for the development of the dental laboratory industry, and recognition about the methods to be pursued to develop the dental laboratory industry. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS Ver. 21.0 for windows. Results: To improve the dental laboratory industry, actualization of dental laboratory products fee(41.2%) had the highest, followed by improving treatment of dental technician, standardization of dental laboratory products, direct bill of medical insurance, regulation of contract management on huge capital, and etc. The recognition of the measures to be pursued for the development of the dental laboratory industry was that dental laboratory products fee required to receive more than 20% of the dental prosthesis fee highest($4.62{\pm}0.76$). And to enlarge dental laboratories through M&A between dental laboratories is the lowest($3.39{\pm}1.26$). Conclusion: As a means to pursue the development of the dental laboratory industry, the actualization of dental laboratory products fee was proposed. Recognition also showed that dental laboratory products fee required to receive more than 20% of dental prosthesis fee was the highest. It is important to propose a reasonable dental laboratory products fee because it recognizes that it is necessary to promote economic growth in both development plan and awareness.

A Feasibility Study for the Development of Dental Technology curriculum (Focusing on Daegu-Gyeongbuk Area) (치기공과 교육과정의 타당성에 관한 연구 - 대구.경북지역을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to lay the groundwork for the development of appropriate training courses for a rapidly changing digital technology in the field of Dental technology. Methods: The subjects of this study were dental technicians, dental technology students, a professor of dental technology in Daegu and Gyeongbuk area and a self-administered structured questionnaire survey was conducted for 350 randomly selected people. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS Win 17.0 statistics program and analysis techniques include the frequency, percentage and cross-analysis. Results: The results of the survey are as follows. The usefulness of Major subjects was Full Denture laboratory (4.72 points), Dental Morphology (4.71 points), Crown and Bridge laboratory (4.69 points) in the instructor's group. The usefulness of Major subjects was Dental Morphology (4.56 points), Full Denture (4.36 points), Crown and Bridge laboratory (4.69 points) in the student's group. The usefulness of Major subjects was Dental Morphology (4.58 points), Dental Morphology laboratory (4.34 points), Partial Denture laboratory (4.30 points) in the dental technician's group. Subject with the highest usefulness of required course to open was CAD/CAM lecture and laboratory, the highest proportion of 91.2% and Implant laboratory was very useful (91.2%) in the instructor's group. Subject with the highest usefulness of required course to open was CAD/CAM lacture and laboratory, the highest proportion of 90.0% and Implant laboratory was very useful (91.2%) in the student's group. Subject with the highest usefulness of required course to open was CAD/CAM lacture and laboratory, the highest proportion of 91.2% and Implant laboratory was very useful (90.2%) in the dental technician's group. Conclusion: Semester of the subjects was required establishment of CAD/CAM lecture and laboratory in the third year first semester (85.1%) and Implant laboratory in the third year second semester the third year was the highest proportion of 94.1% in the instructor's group. 87.0% of students need to open CAD/CAM lacture and laboratory in the third year first semester, Implant laboratory in the third year second semester the third year was the highest proportion of 85.0% in the student's group. Semester of the subjects was required establishment of CAD/CAM lecture and laboratory in the third year first semester (81.0%) and Implant laboratory in the third year second semester the third year was the highest proportion of 80.0% in the dental technician's group.

Factors of Skin Diseases in Dental Technician (Focus in Seoul) (치과기공사의 피부질환 요인 - 서울시 중심 -)

  • This study was conducted to determine the cause and prevalence of occupational skin disease in dental technicians working in Seoul, Korea. and to investigate the relation between these work condition and skin disease of the hand, wrist and forearm. This study was based on the Nordic occupational skin questionnaire(NOSQ), a self-administrated questionnaire which was modified to investigate the dental technician's occupational factors in domestic circumstances. The number was distributed to 500 dental technicians who participated in annual continuing education for dental technicians of the Seoul metropolitan area in April 2006. Of the subjects, 62(30.4%) had eczema and 70(32.9%) had urticaria, as diagnosed. Of the subjects with the symptoms of urticaria, 30 complained of atopic dermatitis, 65 complained of allergic rhinitis, 56 complained of allergic conjunctivitis, and 18 complained of asthma. The group with atopic history had a higher frequency of eczema or urticaria than the group without atopic history. From multiple regression analysis, the group who had a history of atopic dermatitis also had high symptom rates of eczema. The group who had a history of allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis had high symptom rates of urticaria. The urticaria symptom rates were higher in those wearing gloves than those who did not for the type of work.
