Objective : This study was performed in order to figure out Oral Health Actual Condition in Elementary School Teachers in Deagu area. This study was conducted from March through May 2008. Method : A total of three hundred and ten Elementary School Teachers were surveyed. The collected data were analyzed by Oral Health Actual Condition and cognition, Diet habit or living and one's own intellect health state, Oral disease sign symptoms of percent and 2-test and One-way ANOVA test by using SPSS12.0 Program. Results : 1. The most of result Frequencies of tooth brushing per one day were 3 over 91.0% and Oral Examination, Oral Health Education need. 2. The result of oral disease sign and symptom were hypersensitivity due to cold food(39.0%), halitosis(21.6%), gingival bleeding tendency(21.3), clicking sound on TMJ(18.7%), hypersensitivity due to tooth burshing(17.1%), easy crown fracture and to be fine(10.0%), pain on TMJ or limitation of mouth opening(7.1%). 3. The most of result age a group oral hygiene assistance article age 20 for interdental tooth brushing(46.4%), age 50 over not used interdental tooth brushing 38.5%. 4. The result of sign and symptom and snack following was statistically significant(P<0.05), health of own cognition and Oral health of own cognition was statistically significant(P<0.001). Objectives: This study aims to contribute to the prevention of dental diseases and health care in the elderly by investigating the relationship among the experiences of chronic diseases, dental health status, and the behaviors in the Korean elderly people. Methods: A total of 2,856 elderly people aged 65 or older were selected as the final analysis subjects using data from the 6th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2014). Chronic diseases were defined as 'cardiocerebrovascular diseases', 'diabetes', 'chronic respiratory diseases', and 'cancer' diagnosed by the doctors. For the statistical analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. Descriptive analysis and a Chi-square test were conducted to investigate the relationship among the experiences of chronic diseases, general characteristics, dental health status, and the behaviors in the Korean elderly. Finally, logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the relationship among the experiences of chronic diseases, dental health status, and the behaviors. Results:The prevalence of Cardiocerebrovascular diseases was significantly higher in the 3-4 group of community periodontal index with the score of 1.36 (95% CI 1.03-1.00) than in the 0-2 group. The prevalence of Cardiocerebrovascular diseases was significantly higher in the group without dental examination during the past one year with the score of 1.29 (95% CI 1.00-1.66). The prevalence of diabetes was significantly higher in the uncomfortable speaking state group with the score 1.46 (95% CI 1.12-1.91). The prevalence of cancer was significantly higher in the partial denture needs group with the score 1.67 (95% CI 0.98-2.83). Conclusions: Regular dental examinations and dental health care for the elderly with chronic diseases showed that periodontal health and residual teeth could be maintained and managed. Therefore, continuous customized dental health services should be implemented for the elderly with chronic diseases.
The purpose of this study was to examine whether dating affected young people's concern for their looks and their oral health state, and to motivate students to promote their oral health, as national oral health depended on students who would grow into eligible members of society in the near future. Relevant literature and data were reviewed, and a survey was conducted on residents in and around Seoul, who were in their 20s, for approximately three months from June through August 2006 to find out about their oral health status. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Whether they were seeing someone or not was investigated, and it's found that 37.5 percent had a girl friend or boy friend, and that 6.7 percent hadn't. 2. Concerning the state of dating, 40.3 percent, the largest percentage, had been dating for less than a year, and the largest number of them that accounted for 23.6 percent had been dating one person till then, 4.0 percent were considering getting married with those whom they were seeing. The most dominant type of love was eros(romantic or ardent love; 41.7%), followed by stroge(friendly love; 33.3%), and agape(altruistic, devoted love; 12.5%). 3. As for the impact of dating on oral health status, those who were seeing someone were similar to those who weren't in toothbrushing frequency, toothbrushing time and simplified oral hygiene index. There was no significant gap between the two. 4. Concerning the influence of dating on dental-treatment experience, no statistically significant intergroup differences were found in experiences of taking dental-caries treatment, bad-breath treatment and teeth-whitening treatment. There was a statistically significant intergroup gap only in scaling experience(pE0.05). 5. Regarding the impact of dating on oral health care, 59.7 percent of those who were dating thought that it affected oral health care, and the same rate of the others who weren't stood at 38.3 percent. There was a statistically significant gap between the two(pE0.01). 6. As to the influence of general characteristics on oral hygiene index, their age and gender made no statistically significant differences to that. By occupation, however, many of the company employees were in good oral health, and many of them were in bad oral health, too. The office workers were statistically significantly different from the others in that regard(pE0.01).
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the infection control education experiences of dental hygienists and the state of their infection control. Methods : The subjects in this study were the dental hygienists who worked in Seoul. The relationship of their infection control education experiences to their gender, marital status, academic credential, workplace, length of service, infection control implementation, experience of being exposed to infection, way of coping with it, hand washing, use of personal protection devices and equipment management was analyzed. Results : It is found that the variable to affect the state of infection control was educational experiences about handpiece water pipe management, ultrasonic scaler water pipe management and three-way syringe water pipe management. Conclusions : Dental hygienists who are one of major dental personnels should receive systematic education on infection control to acquire accurate knowledge to ensure the successful prevention of cross infection.
Objectives : This study had been performed for Respondents who live in Daegu and Kyungbuk province Age group of 30 to 50 years old. Methods : The oral health state and oral heath care, dental treatments about the use of oral hygiene devices were obtained through self-administering questionnaires from 2 to 31, January, 2009. Results : 1. The toothpick was well known for respondents and automatic brush, gargle, dental floss were practically used. 2. 57.1% of man know oral hygiene device, they know more about oral hygiene device if they have higher degree, and they use more if they are older than others. 3. 55.5% of respondents who think their oral health condition is not healthy enough recognize oral hygiene device, 77.5% of respondents who visited dental clinic around six month recognize oral hygiene device. 82.4% of respondents who had been follow-up. 86.1% of respondents who think their oral health state is good enough doesn't use oral hygiene device, oral hygiene device was used more for respondents who visited dental clinic frequently. 47.1% of respondents who visited dental clinic periodically use oral hygiene device. 4. Respondents who experience implant recognize more about oral hygiene device and periodontal Tx, orthodontics problem, preservative treatment were next. 5. 60.0% of respondents who were educated tooth brushing method recognize it. Oral hygiene device was frequently used if tooth brushing time were increased. 26.4% of respondents who were changed their tooth brushing method used oral hygiene device. Conclusions : Their recognition level was practically low whose age is around 30 to 50. Their oral hygiene device use ratio is higher then others who were educated tooth brush method so that I think we need to recommend for use oral hygiene device and use method.
Objectives: Dental personnels have high chances of exposure to various infections during many dental procedures. This study was performed to investigate the state of infection control in the private dental clinics and prevention state of hepatitis B virus infection among the dental hygiene students in Kwanju city, Korea. Methods: Questionnaires were obtained from 94 dental hygiene students who participated in dental practice in private dental clinics for more than five weeks. Results: 83.9% of dentists and 17.2% of dental hygienists routinely used the mask for treating all patients, 32.3% of dentists and 6.5% of dental hygienists routinely used the rubber gloves. The use of protective eyeware was much lower in each group. Disinfectant was used in 52.7% for sanitization of dental instruments before cleansing. The prevalence of HBsAg and anti-HBs were 3.8% and 67.1% respectively, 52.7% of dental hygiene students had history of accidental needle stick. Conclusion: Routine use of personal barrier techniques by dental personnels should be emphasized. Dental hygiene students were not properly immunized against hepatitis B virus and had high incidence of accidental needle stick. It is necessary to establish specific regulations or recommendations for cross infection control in dental practice and to performed scheduled vaccination program for hepatitis B virus for dental hygiene students.
본 연구는 65세 이상 노인들의 치아건강도와 선호식품과의 관련성을 알아보고자 국가통계자료인 2010년과 2011년 국민건강영양조사 원시자료를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 채소류, 과일류, 기타식품의 선호도가 높은 사람은 T-health 지수와 FS-T 지수가 높았고, ST와 PT도 많은 반면, 채소류, 과일류, 기타식품의 선호도가 낮은 사람은 MT가 많은 것으로 나타났다. T-health 지수는 곡류, 과일류, 기타식품, 65~69세, 70~74세, 소득분위 중하위권과 하위권에서 유의하였고, ST는 곡류, 기타식품, 65~69세, 70~74세, 소득분위 중하위권에서 유의한 영향을 미쳤다(p<0.05). FS-T 지수는 과일류, 유지 및 당류, 기타식품, 65~69세, 70~74세, 소득분위 중하위권과 하위권에서 유의하였으며, PT 및 MT는 곡류, 과일류, 65~69세, 70~74세, 소득분위 중하위권과 하위권에서 유의한 영향을 미쳤다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과를 종합하면, 65세 이상 노인들의 치아건강도와 식품의 선호도는 밀접한 연관성이 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 특히, 노인들의 치아건강도에 따라 선호식품에 차이가 있으며, 노인들의 치아건강상태가 영양불균형을 초래하는 위험요인으로 작용될 수 있다는 것에 주목할 필요가 있다. 따라서 노인들을 비롯한 모든 연령층에서 치아건강을 유지하기 위한 노력이 필요하며, 생애에 걸쳐 구강건강관리 를 할 수 있는 프로그램 마련이 필요할 것으로 판단되었다.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect subjective symptoms of malocclusion has on the patient's quality of life related to oral health. Methods: A self-administered survey was conducted on adults aged 20 years, with a total of 308 copies of the response sheets analyzed. Results: The degree of subjective symptoms of malocclusion was highest in the group of those in their 20s when looked at across different age groups, and those who had a final education of middle school. In addition, the quality of life related to oral health was the highest in middle school graduates and among those in Gyeonggi province. The degree of malocclusion symptom according to oral health behavior was highest in 1-2 weeks of drinking when smoking in a smoking state, and quality of life related to oral health was higher in smokers than in non-smokers. The greater the subjective symptoms of malocclusion, the lower the quality of life related to oral health. Conclusions: It was found that the subjective symptoms of malocclusion decreased quality of life related to oral health. As such, quality of life related to oral health can be improved through aesthetic and functional improvement efforts to decrease the subjective symptoms of malocclusion.
Objectives: To analyze whether there are perceptual differences in internet oral health information use between ordinary people who underwent dental treatments and dental hygienists. Second, the study aimed to analyze related issues, and, third, to find a developmental direction to provide fundamental information for developing patient-customized websites to improve dental services to suit contemporary needs. Methods: From September 1 to September 30, 2018, a questionnaire survey was conducted, with 367 participants (209 dental hygienists and 149 patients) in order to analyze their objective agreement, subjective congruence, and accuracy. As a study tool, the questionnaire consisted of 11 items about the perception of internet oral health information use and 11 on the estimated perceptions of both groups in order to compare their perceptions and estimates of each other. Results: Objective agreement was analyzed and, as a result, dental hygienists and patients were found to demonstrate similar results in terms of their perceptions of internet oral health information use. With regard to subjective agreement, the study subjects either underestimated or overestimated internet oral health information use more than they perceived. In terms of accuracy, dental hygienists and patients had different perceptions regarding internet oral health information use. Therefore, accuracy was somewhat low. Conclusions: In order to improve individuals' self-care ability and increase therapeutic instructional adherence for oral healthcare, it is necessary to apply internet oral health information properly to each patient's individual oral state.

An "optimal" fluoride concentration of 0.7-1.2 ppm has been recommended for preventing dental caries with a minimal dental fluorosis and no systemic health consequences.
