Purpose: To evaluate the marginal and internal fit of metal coping fabricated by a metal three-dimensional (3D) printer that uses selective laser melting (SLM). Methods: An extraoral scanner was used to scan a die of the prepared maxillary right first molar, and the coping was designed using computer-aided design software and saved as an stereo lithography (STL) file. Ten specimens were printed with an SLM-type metal 3D printer (SLM group), and 10 more specimens were fabricated by casting the castable patterns output generated by a digital light processing-type resin 3D printer (casting the 3D printed resin patterns [CRP] group). The fit was measured using the silicon replica technique, and 8 points (A to H) were set per specimen to measure the marginal (points A, H) and internal (points B~G) gaps. The differences among the groups were compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test (α=0.05). Results: The mean of marginal fit in the SLM group was 69.67±18.04 ㎛, while in the CRP group was 117.10±41.95 ㎛. The internal fit of the SLM group was 95.18±41.20 ㎛, and that of the CRP group was 86.35±32 ㎛. As a result of statistical analysis, there was a significant difference in marginal fit between the SLM and CRP groups (p<0.05); however, there was no significant difference in internal fit between the SLM group and the CRP group (p>0.05). Conclusion: The marginal and internal fit of SLM is within the clinically acceptable range, and it seems to be applicable in terms of fit.
(The area fraction of adherence ceramic, AFAC)은 SEM/EDS로 시편의 Si 함량을 측정하였다.
PURPOSE. Considering the importance of metal-ceramic bond, the present study aimed to compare the bond strength of ceramics to cobalt-chrome (Co-Cr) alloys made by casting and selective laser melting (SLM). MATERIALS AND METHODS. In this in-vitro experimental study, two sample groups were prepared, with one group comprising of 10 Co-Cr metal frameworks fabricated by SLM method and the other of 10 Co-Cr metal frameworks fabricated by lost wax cast method with the dimensions of $0.5{\times}3{\times}25\;mm$ (following ISO standard 9693). Porcelain with the thickness of 1.1 mm was applied on a $3{\times}8-mm$ central rectangular area of each sample. Afterwards, bond strengths of the samples were assessed with a Universal Testing Machine. Statistical analysis was performed with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and T-test. RESULTS. Bond strength in the conventionally cast group equaled $74.94{\times}16.06\;MPa$, while in SLM group, it equaled $69.02{\times}5.77\;MPa$. The difference was not statistically significant ($P{\leq}.05$). CONCLUSION. The results indicated that the bond strengths between ceramic and Co-Cr alloys made by casting and SLM methods were not statistically different.
Purpose: In this study, FEM(Finite Element Method) and bending strength test was conducted using normal implant and porous implant for the mechanical estimation of porous dental implant made by SLM method. Methods: Mechanical characteristics of PI(porous implant) and NI(normal implant) applied distributed loads(200N, 500N) were observed through FEM analysis. And each bending strength was gotten through bending test using MTS(Mechanical Test System, Instron 8871). Results: The result of FEM analysis was observed that stress difference between upper and surface of PI was 12 times, while NI was 2 times. The result of bending test was observed that bending strength of PI was lower than NI. we made a decision about this result that cross-sectional area of NI was larger than the PI. Conclusion: The stress shielding ability of porous implant was better than normal implant through result of FEM analysis. And bending strength of porous implant was lower than NI. We think that cause of this result was difference of cross-sectional area.
Purpose: This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the clinical acceptability of precision of fit of the support thickness of Co-Cr alloy copings fabricated using selective laser melting (SLM). Methods: Thirty dental stone models of maxillary left molar abutments were manufactured, images were taken using a scanner, and a computer-aided design program was used to design the form of a conventional metal ceramic crown coping. Overall, 30 single copings were made from Co-Cr alloy using SLM and divided into three support radius groups (0.1, 0.25, and 0.35 mm) of 10 for each. Digitized data were superimposed with three-dimensional inspection software to quantitatively obtain the machinability of a ceramic crown coping, and visual differences were confirmed using a color map. The root mean square values of the ceramic crown coping group were statistically analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (α=0.05). Results: The precision of fit was superior with 0.25 mm compared with 0.1 mm and 0.35 mm, and the results exhibited significant differences (p<0.05). All specimens showed that various support thicknesses did not exceed the clinically permitted value of 120 ㎛, which mean that more than 0.1 mm and 0.35 mm of support radius for SLM was adequate. Conclusion: The support thickness of Co-Cr alloy restoration fabricated using SLM is shown to affect the adaptation.

And the precision of the specimen processed with polymer 3D printer is excellent. The accuracy of LCPS type polymer 3D printers is considered to be excellent. Conclusion : 1. Observation of the shape The 3D printer for LCPS system and the 3D printer for SLM $40{\mu}m$ system were found to be precisely processed. 2. Surface roughness results The LCPS system polymer 3D printer has been shown to have a precise surface.
Purpose: The selective laser melting (SLM) process for dentistry, which is one of the additive manufacturing technologies (AM) allows for rapid production of a three-dimensional model with complex shape by directly melting metal powder. This process generates detailed items of a three-dimensional model shape through consolidation of a thin powder layer by utilizing both selective melting and laser beam simultaneously. In regard to SLM process, Fe-base powder, Ti-6AI-4V powder, AI-base powder, etc. have been researched. It is believed that the aforementioned technologies will be widely utilized in manufacturing metal parts using metal powder of raw material. This study chose Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder in order to manufacture metal powder materials that would be used in the selective laser melting for dentistry. Methods: This study manufactured metal powder using mechanical alloying technique (MA) among those metal powder manufacturing techniques. Moreover, this study aimed to utilize the metal powder manufactured after observing the characteristics of powder as preliminary data of Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder. This study could obtain the following conclusions within the experimental limitations. Results: As a result of mechanically alloying Ni-Cr-Mo powder over time, its mean particle size was $66.93{\mu}m$$54.4{\mu}m$ and $45.39{\mu}m$ at 10h, 20h and 30h, respectively. The gtain form of metal powder by mechanical alloying technique was a sponge-like shape of irregular plate; however, the gtain form manufactured by high-pressure water aromization process had the following three types: globular type, chain type and oval type. Conclusion: This study found $37.65{\mu}m$ as the mean particle size of Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder, which was manufactured using water atomization technique under the following conditions: water atomization flux of 300 liter/min, hydraulic pressure of $400kgf/cm^2$ and injection angle of $45^{\circ}$. This study confirmed that the grain form of powder (solid particle form) would vary depending on the manufacturing process.
Purpose: In this study, the marginal fitness of ceramic Co-Cr metal crown made by precision casting, milling, and selective laser melting method were compared. The surface roughness of the crown was also observed. Results: On the bucco-lingual axial, absolute marginal discrepancy was the LC specimen $31.72({\pm}4.58){\mu}m$, the CM specimen $78.29({\pm}3.28){\mu}m$ and the CS specimen $143.13({\pm}3.83){\mu}m$, respectively. On the bucco-lingual axial, marginal gap was the LC specimen $22.70({\pm}1.46){\mu}m$, the CM specimen $22.70({\pm}1.49){\mu}m$ and CS specimen $99.60({\pm}1.57){\mu}m$, respectively. Conclusion: For ceramic Co-Cr metal crowns, LC specimen was superior for absolute marginal discrepancy and marginal gap. The surface of metal crowns by selective laser melting were the roughest.
