덩어리, 단층 및 사슬 구조 철의 전자구조와 자성에 대한 LDA+U 효과 (The LDA+U Effect on the Electronic Structure and Magnetism of Bulk, Monolayer, and Linear Chain of Iron)

  • 상관효과 U가 전자구조와 자성에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위하여 대표적 자성물질인 철의 덩어리, 단층 및 사슬 구조에 대해 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 U = 3 eV로 택하여, 총 퍼텐셜 보강 평면파동 에너지 띠 방법을 이용하여 LDA+U 및 GGA+U 근사 하에 전자구조 계산을 수행하였다. 비교를 위하여 LDA 및 GGA를 이용한 계산도 수행하였다. 그 결과 U의 효과를 포함시켰을 때 덩어리 철의 경우 자기모멘트가 $0.3{\mu}_B$ 증가하여 실험값이나 LDA 및 GGA 계산에 비해 과다하게 계산되는 것으로 나타났으나, 단층이나 사슬의 경우는 그렇게 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이로부터 전자구조 계산 시대상 계에 따라 U의 효과를 적절히 고려하여야 함을 알았다.

Surface Electronic Structures and Magnetism of a Full-Heusler Alloy Co2CrGa(001): A First-principles Study

  • We have investigated the electronic structures and magnetism of a full Heusler alloy $Co_2CrGa(001)$ surface by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). We considered two types of different terminations: the Co-terminated (Co-Term) and the CrGa-terminated (CrGa-Term) surfaces. From the calculated layer-projected density of states (LDOS), we found that the surface of the CrGa-Term shows nearly half-metallic character while that of the Co-Term is far from the half-metallic. For the Co-Term, the surface Co atom moves down to the bulk region by $0.05{\AA}A$, while the subsurface Cr and Ga atoms move up to the surface layer by 0.05 and $0.01{\AA}$, respectively. For the CrGa-Term, there is a large inward relaxation of the surface Ga atom $(0.07{\AA})$, but the relaxation of the surface Cr atom is very small $(0.01{\AA})$. The relaxations affect not much to the overall shapes of DOS for both terminations, but make the surface states of the surface Cr and Ga atoms for the CrGa-Term shift to higher energy that enhances the nearly half-metallic character of the CrGa-Term. The magnetic moments of the surface $Cr(2.98{\mu}_B)$ in the CrGa-Term and the surface $Co(1.17{\mu}_B)$ in the Co-Term were much increased compared to those of the inner-layers $(1.79\;and\;0.77{\mu}_B)$, respectively, while that of the subsurface Cr atom in the Co-Term was decreased to $1.19{\mu}_B$.

횡단유동내 인젝터 홀의 위치에 따른 제트의 분무 특성 (Spray Characteristics of Jet According to Position of Injector Hole in Cross Flow)

  • 공기와 물을 사용하여 인젝터의 위치와 운동량 플럭스 비가 수직유동이 횡단유동장내의 수직분사 제트에 미치는 영향을 정성적으로 연구하고 도시하였다. 운동량 플럭스 비를 고정하고 인젝터 홀의 위치를 변화시키고 역으로 인젝터 홀의 위치를 고정하고 운동량 플럭스 비를 변화시켰다. 이미지 가시화는 고속카메라를 이용하여 Shadowgraph 기법을 사용하였다. 가시화된 이미지는 밀도구배강도 이미지를 통하여 분무의 차이를 비교하였다. 장치의 x/d가 증가할수록 제트의 분열 높이가 낮아지며 분무 각도 또한 감소하는 것을 관측하였다. x/d가 0일 때는 어떠한 운동량 플럭스 비에서도 분무가 바닥과 천장에 닿게 되는 결과를 보였다.

  • 1. 느타리버섯 중의 미토콘드리아는 설탕농도 44% 층에서 분리 정제되었다. 2. 파장 변화에 따른 미토콘드리아성 ATPase의 활성도는 580nm의 빛이 조사될 때 가장 크게 증가되었다. 3. 최적 파장 580nm의 빛 조사시간 변화에 따른 활성도는 10초 동안 조사하였을 때 가장 크게 증가하였다. 4. 최적 빛 조사 조건에서 이 효소의 최적 pH는 7.4, 최적 온도는 $60^{\circ}C$였다. 5. 최적 광 조건에서 얻은 이 효소는 $Fe^{3+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$$K^{+}$ 이온에 의하여 활성화 되었으나 $Na^{+}$ 이온에 의해서는 억제되었다.

LC-MS/MS를 이용한 계지복령환(桂枝茯苓丸)의 동시분석 및 항산화 효능 연구 (Quantitative Analysis and Antioxidant Effects of Gyejibokryeong-hwan)

  • Gyejibokryeong-hwan (GJBRH) has been used for treatment of patients with climacteric syndrome. In this study, an ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometer (UPLC-ESI-MS) method was established for the simultaneous quantification of seven marker compounds in GJBRH extract. In addition, we assessed the antioxidant effects of GJBRH. All analytes were separated by gradient elution using two mobile phases on a UPLC BEH $C_{18}$ column and maintained at $45^{\circ}C$. The antioxidant activities of GJBRH were evaluated by measuring free radical scavenging activities on 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and 1-1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The inhibitory effects on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation were evaluated by the formation of thiobarbituric acid relative substances (TBARS) and relative electrophoretic mobility (REM). Regression equations of the seven compounds were acquired with $r^2$ values ${\geq}0.9988$. The amounts of the seven compounds, amygdalin, albiflorin, paeoniflorin, coumarin, cinnamic acid, cinnamaldehyde, and paeonol in GJBRH water extract were 21.71, 2.16, 17.17, 1.97, 0.40, 0.78, and 3.42 mg/g, respectively. The GJBRH showed the radical scavenging activity in a dose-dependent manner. The concentration required for 50% reduction ($RC_{50}$) against ABTS and DPPH radicals were $54.18{\mu}g/mL$ and $79.53{\mu}g/mL$. Furthermore, GJBRH reduced the oxidation properties of LDL induced by $CuSO_4$.

Characterization of Melon necrotic spot virus Occurring on Watermelon in Korea

  • Melon necrotic spot virus (MNSV) was recently identified on watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris) in Korea, displaying as large necrotic spots and vein necrosis on the leaves and stems. The average occurrence of MNSV on watermelon was found to be 30-65% in Hapcheon and Andong City, respectively. Four isolates of the virus (MNSV-HW, MNSV-AW, MNSV-YW, and MNSV-SW) obtained from watermelon plants in different areas were non-pathogenic on ten general indicator plants, including Chenopodium quinoa, while they infected systemically six varieties of Cucurbitaceae. The virus particles purified by 10-40% sucrose density gradient centrifugation had a typical ultraviolet spectrum, with a minimum at 245 nm and a maximum at 260 nm. The morphology of the virus was spherical with a diameter of 28-30 nm. Virus particles were observed scattered throughout the cytoplasm of watermelon cells, but no crystals were detected. An ELISA was conducted using antiserum against MNSV-HW; the optimum concentrations of IgG and conjugated IgG for the assay were $1{\mu}l/ml$ and a 1:8,000-1:10,000 dilutions, respectively. Antiserum against MNSV-HW could capture specifically both MNSV-MN from melon and MNSV-HW from watermelon by IC/RT-PCR, and they were effectively detected with the same specific primer to produce product of 1,172 bp. The dsRNA of MNSV-HW had the same profile (4.5, 1.8, and 1.6 kb) as that of MNSV-MN from melon. The nucleotide sequence of the coat protein of MNSV-HW gave a different phylogenetic tree, having 17.2% difference in nucleotide sequence compared with MNSV isolates from melon.

Preparation of ultra-clean hydrogen and deuterium terminated Si(111)-($1{\times}1$) surfaces and re-observation of the surface phonon dispersion curves

  • The surface phonon is defined as a coherent vibrational excitation of surface atoms propagating along the surface. It is characterized by a phonon dispersion curves, which were extensively studied in 1990's using helium atom scattering and high-resolution electron-energy-loss spectroscopy (HREELS)[1].The understanding is mainly based on the theoretical framework of a classical bond model or cluster calculations. The recent sample preparation and first principles calculations open the naval way to deep insight for surface phonon problems. The surface phonon dispersion on the hydrogen-terminated Si(111)-($1{\times}1$) surface [H:Si(111)] is the typical system and already reported experimentally [2] and theoretically [3], although the understandingis incomplete. The sample contaminated by the oxygen atoms on the surface and the calculations were also classical. In this study, firstly, we have prepared an ultra-clean H:Si(111) surface [4] and measured the surface phonon dispersion curvesusing HREELS. Secondly, we have performed first-principles density functional calculations with the projector augmented wave functionals, as implemented in VASP, using generalized gradient approximations. We used aslab of six silicon layers and both top and bottom surfaces were terminated with hydrogen atoms. Finally, we have compared with the surface phonon dispersion of deuterium-terminatedSi(111)-($1{\times}1$) surface[5] and led to our conclusions. The Si-H stretching and the bending modes are observed at 258.5 and 78.2 meV, respectively. These energies are the same as the previously reported values [2], but the energy-loss peaks at the lower energy regions are dramatically shifted. Through this combination study, we have formulated the procedure of preparing ultra-clean H:Si(111)/D:Si(111), which was confirmed by HREELS vibrational analysis. The Si surface will be utilized for further nano-physics research as well as for the materials for nano-fubrication.

액체탄화수소의 초임계 천이과정에 대한 거시적 특성 분석 (Macroscopic Analysis on Supercritical Transition of Liquid Hydrocarbon Fuel)

  • 추진기관의 주요 연료로 사용되는 액체 탄화수소 연료의 초임계 천이특성을 분석하기 위해서 Methylcyclohexane (MCH)의 상변화 가시화 및 MCH와 Decane의 포화곡선 측정실험을 수행하였다. 압력 정체구간은 임계점 부근에서 급격한 비열의 상승으로 존재하며, 정체구간이 종료되는 시점부터 임계점까지 임계단백광이 관측되었다. 또한, 초임계로 완전히 천이되면서 상의 경계가 사라지고 강한 밀도 구배를 관측할 수 있었다. 실험 포화온도 곡선과 수치적 데이터를 비교한 결과 단일 탄화수소계열 연료는 실험과 수치데이터가 거의 일치하는 경향을 보였으나, 혼합탄화수소계열연료의 임계점 예측에서는 다소 차이를 보였다.

Assessment of Soil Microbial Communities in Carotenoid-Biofortified Rice Ecosystem

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Psy-2A-CrtI (PAC), a genetically modified (GM) rice with enhanced ${\beta}$-carotene, on the soil microbial community. The soil used to cultivate GM rice and its wild-type, Nakdong, was analyzed for population density, denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), and pyrosequencing. It was found that the bacterial, fungal and actinomycetes population densities of the PAC soils were within the range of those of the non-GM rice cultivar, Nakdong. The DGGE banding patterns of the GM and non-GM soils were also similar, suggesting that the bacterial community structures were stable within a given month and were unaffected by the presence of a GM plant. The pyrosequencing result showed a temporal difference in microorganism taxon and distribution ratio, but no significant difference between GM and non-GM was found. The persistence of the transgene DNA in the plant and surrounding soil were investigated for different time periods. There were differences in the persistence within the plant depending on the gene, but they could not be detected after 5 weeks. Also the transgenes were not detected in the surrounding soil. These results indicate that soil microbial communities are unaffected by the cultivation of a PAC rice within the experimental time frame.

경사하강법을 이용한 낸드 플래시 메모리기반 저장 장치의 고효율 수명 예측 및 예외처리 방법 (High Efficiency Life Prediction and Exception Processing Method of NAND Flash Memory-based Storage using Gradient Descent Method)

  • 최근 빅데이터를 수용하기 위한 대용량 저장 장치가 필요한 엔터프라이즈 저장 시스템에서는 비용과 크기 대비 직접도가 높은 대용량의 플래시 메모리 기반 저장 장치를 많이 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 엔터프라이즈 대용량 저장 장치의 신뢰도와 이용성에 직접적인 영향을 주는 플래시 메모리 미디어의 수명을 극대화 하기 위해 경사하강법을 적용한 고효율 수명 예측 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 불량 발생 빈도를 학습하기 위한 메타 데이터를 저장하는 매트릭스의 구조를 제안하고 메타데이터를 이용한 비용 모델을 제안한다. 또한 학습된 범위를 벗어난 불량이 발생 했을 때 예외 상황에서의 수명 예측 정책을 제안한다. 마지막으로 시뮬레이션을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법이 이전까지 플래시 메모리의 수명 예측을 위해 사용되어 온 고정 횟수 기반 수명 예측 방법과 예비 블록의 남은 비율을 기반으로 하는 수명 예측 방법 대비 수명을 극대화 할 수 있음을 증명하여 우수성을 확인했다.
