  • In MIPv6 environment, an important design consideration for public key based binding update protocols is to minimize asymmetric cryptographic operations in mobile nodes with constraint computational power, such as PDAs and cellular phones, For that, public key based protocols such as CAM-DH. SUCV and Deng-Zhou-Bao's approach provides an optimization to offload asymmetric cryptographic operations of a mobile node to its home agent. However, such protocols have some problems in providing the optimization. Especially, CAM-DH with this optimization does not unload all asymmetric cryptographic operations from the mobile node, while resulting in the home agent's vulnerability to denial of service attacks. In this paper, we improve the drawbacks of CAM-DH. Furthermore, we adopt Aura's two hash-based CGA scheme to increase the cost of brute-force attacks searching for hash collisions in the CGA method. The comparison of our protocol with other public key based protocols shows that our protocol can minimize the MN's computation overhead, in addition to providing better manageability and stronger security than other protocols.

  • The study of IP address allocation in MANET can be categories into Stateful and Stateless. The one, special node monitors other nodes' IP address and allocates IF address. And the other, node generates IP address by itself. Nodes in MANET have mobility and restricted resource, so Stateless is more suitable than Stateful. But, in Stateless, node requires DAD process because of unique IP address allocation. And Dos attack can be happened in DAD precess. In this paper, we propose a security method on preventing DoS attack against DAD in MANET using one-way hash function. Since, Computation of one-way hash function is suitable for nodes' restricted resource character in MANET. And we evaluate performance using NS2 and compare with other security method which is CGA using signature.

  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) is setting the standard for the management of networks due to its scalability, flexibility and functionality to program the network. The Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is most widely used to attack the SDN controller to bring down the network. Different methodologies have been utilized to detect DDoS attack previously. In this paper, first the dataset is obtained by Kaggle with 84 features, and then according to the rank, the 20 highest rank features are selected using Permutation Importance Algorithm. Then, the datasets are trained and tested with Convolution Neural Network (CNN) classifier model by utilizing deep learning techniques. Our proposed solution has achieved the best results, which will allow the critical systems which need more security to adopt and take full advantage of the SDN paradigm without compromising their security.

  • Recently, there is a drastic increase in users interested in real-time multimedia services in the WLAN environment, as the demand of IEEE 802.11 WLAN-based services increases. However, the handoff delay based on 802.11i security policy is not acceptable for the seamless real-time multimedia services provided to MS frequently moving in the WLAN environment, and there is a possibility of DoS attacks against session key derivation process and handoff mechanism. In this paper, a secure and efficient handoff mechanism in the centralized WLAN environment is introduced to solve the security problems. The 4-way Handshake for both mutual authentication and session key derivation is replaced by the 2-way Reassociation process.

  • Distributed Denial-of-Service(DDoS) attack prevent users from accessing services on the target network by spoofing its origin source address with a large volume of traffic. The objective of IP Traceback is to determine the real attack sources, as well as the full path taken by the attack packets. Existing IP Traceback methods can be categorized as proactive or reactive dating. Proactive tracing(such as packet marking and messaging) prepares information for tracing when packets are in transit. Reactive tracing starts tracing after an attack is detected. In this paper, we propose a 'advanced ICW Traceback' mechanism, which is based on the modified pushback system with secure router mechanism. Proposed mechanism can detect and control DDoS traffic on router and can generate ICMP Traceback message for reconstructing origin attack source, by which we can diminish network overload and enhance Traceback performance.

  • Recently many mutual authentication protocol for light-weight hash-based for RFID have been proposed. Most of them have assumed that communications between a backend server and reader are secure, and not considered threats for backend server and RFID reader impersonation. In the real world, however, attacks against database or reader are more effective rather than attacks against RFID tag, at least from attacker's perspective. In this paper, we assume that all communications are not secure to attackers except the physical attack, and considering realistic threats for designing a mutual authentication protocol based on hash function. And It supports a mutual authentication and can protect against the replay attack, impersonation attack, location tracking attack, and denial of service attack in the related work. We besides provide a secure and efficient RFID mutual authentication protocol which resists impersonation attacks on all of the entities and alow a backend server to search tag-related information efficiently. We conclude with analyzing the safety and efficiency among latest works.

  • The session initiation protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol, which is used to controlling communication session creation, manage and finish over Internet protocol. Based on it, we can implement various services like voice based electronic commerce or instant messaging. Recently, Qiu et al. proposed an enhanced password authentication scheme for SIP. However, this paper withdraws that Qiu et al.'s scheme is weak against the off-line password guessing attack and has denial of service problem. Addition to this, we propose an improved password authentication scheme as a remedy scheme of Qiu et al.'s scheme. For this, the proposed scheme does not use server's verifier and is based on elliptic curve cryptography. Security validation is provided based on a formal validation tool ProVerif. Security analysis shows that the improved authentication scheme is strong against various attacks over SIP.

  • Recently, Selim et al proposed public key cryptography based privacy preserving multi-context RFID authentication protocol. However Selim et al's proposed protocol not only doesn't fit into passive tag based RFID system because it uses public key based encryption algorithm to perform authentication between reader and tag, but also is insecure to an impersonation attack because it doesn't provide mutual authentication. In order to eliminate the above described efficiency problem and security vulnerabilities, this paper proposes a new multi-context RFID mutual authentication protocol that can prevent privacy invasion and tag impersonation attack through providing mutual authentication between single passive tag which is located different application space and readers which provide multi-context purposes and can secure against relay attack and denial-of-service attack. As a result, the proposed protocol performs secure mutual authentication based on the collected space and time information from the RFID reader and provides strong security and high computation efficiency because if performs secure one-way hash function and symmetric encryption operations suitable to the environments of passive RFID tags.

  • With the increasing popularity of the wireless network, the vulnerability issue on IEEE 802.1x Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) are more serious than we expected. Security issues range from mis-configured wireless Access Point(AP) such as session hijacking to Denial of Service(DoS) attack. We propose a new system based on intrusion detection or prevention mechanism to protect the wireless network against these attacks. The proposed system has a security solution on AP that includes an intrusion detection and protection system(IDS/IPS) as an embedded module. In this paper, we suggest integrated wireless IDS/IPS module on AP with wireless traffic monitoring, analysis and packet filtering module against malicious wireless attacks. We also present that the system provides both enhanced security and performance such as on the university wireless campus network.
