  • The defects of partial denture frameworks are mainly shrinkage porosity, inclusions, micro-crack, particles from investment, and dendritic structure. In order to investigate a good casting condition of partial denture frameworks, the three casting alloys and casting methods were used and detected casting defects were analyzed by using electrochemical methods. Three casting alloys (63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo, 63Ni-16Cr, 63Co-30Cr-5Mo) were prepared for fabricating partial denture frameworks with various casting methods; centrifugal casting (Kerr, USA), high frequency induction casting (Jelenko Eagle, USA), vacuum pressure casting (Bego, Germany). The casting temperature was $1,380^{\circ}C$ (63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo and 63Ni-16Cr) and $1,420^{\circ}C$ (63Co-30Cr-5Mo). The casting morphologies were analyzed using FE-SEM and EDX. The corrosion test of the dendritic structure was performed through potentiodynamic method in 0.9% NaCl solutions at $36.5^{\circ}C$ and corrosion surface was observed using SEM. The defects of partial denture frameworks improved in the order of centrifugal casting, high frequency induction casting, and vacuum pressure casting method, especially, pore defects were found at part of clasp in the case of centrifugal casting method. The structure of casting showed dendritic structure for three casting alloys. In the 63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo and 63Co-30Cr-5Mo, $\alpha$-Co and $\varepsilon$-Co phases were identified at matrix and $${\gamma}$-Ni_2$Cr second phase were shown in 63Ni-16Cr. Also, the corrosion resistance of cast structure increased in the order of vacuum pressure casting, high frequency induction casting, and centrifugal casting method.

  • A hybrid dust-collector combining electrostatic charging with fabric filtration method was developed, and its performance characteristics were evaluated in this study. Charged particles build porous dendritic structure on the surfaces of filter by electrostatic attraction, increasing the collection efficiency of dust particles and reducing the pressure drop through the deposited dust layer and filter media. The cleaning performance of the dust layer is improved because the dendritic structured dust layer can be removed more easily by pulse jet cleaning flow. The results of the experiment showed a reduction of fine particle emission of 37% and the energy saving of 13% by precharging dust particles before filtration.

  • Models based on diffusion-limited aggregation (DLA) have been extensively used to explore the mechanisms of dendritic particle aggregation phenomena. The physical and chemical properties of systems in which DLA aggregates emerge are given in their fractal. In this paper, we present a comprehensive study of the growth of electrodeposited copper dendrites in flat plate electrochemical cells from a fractal perspective. The effects of growth time, applied voltage, copper ion concentration, and electrolyte acidity on the morphology and fractal dimension of deposited copper were examined. 'Phase diagram' set out the variety of electrodeposited copper fractal morphology analysed by metallographic microscopy. The box counting method confirms that the electrodeposited dendritic structures manifestly exhibit fractal character. It was found that with the increase of the voltage and copper ion concentration. The fractal copper size becomes larger and its morphology shifts towards a dendritic structure, with the fractal dimension fluctuating around 1.60-1.70. In addition, the morphology of the deposited copper is significantly affected by the acidity of the electrolyte. The increase in acidity from 0.01 to 1.00 mol/L intensifies the hydrogen precipitation side reactions and the overflow path of hydrogen bubbles affects the fractal growth of copper dendrites.

  • A novel class of conjugated dendritic molecules bearing N-hexyl-substituted carbazoles as peripheral groups and various conjugative aromatic cores was synthesized through Heck coupling and the Horner-Emmons reaction. A multilayered structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS (30 nm)/emitting material (50 nm)/BCP (10 nm)/$Alq_3$ (10 nm)/LiF (1 nm)/Al (100 nm) was employed to evaluate the synthesized dendritic materials. The electroluminescence spectrum of the multilayered device made of 3Cz predominantly exhibited blue emissions. Similar emissions were observed in the PL spectra of it's the device's thin film. The multilayered devices made of 3Cz, 3BCz, and 4BCz showed luminance values of 6,250 cd $m^{-2}$ at 24 V, 3,000 cd $m^{-2}$ at 25 V, and 1,970 cd $m^{-2}$ at 36 V, respectively. The smallest molecule, 3Cz, which bore three carbazole peripheral groups, exhibited a blue-like emission with CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinates of x = 0.17 and y = 0.21.

  • Oxidation-reduction cycling (ORC) procedures are widely used for cleaning nanoparticle surfaces when investigating their electrocatalytic activities. In this work, the effect of ORC on the surface structures and electrocatalytic oxygen reduction activity of Au electrodes is analyzed. Different structural changes and variations in electrocatalysis are observed depending on the initial structure of the Au electrodes, such as flat bulk, nanoporous, nanoplate, or dendritic Au. In particular, dendritic Au structures lost their sharp-edge morphology during the ORC process, resulting in a significant decrease in its electrocatalytic oxygen reduction activity. The results shown in this paper provide an insight into the pretreatment of nanoparticle-based electrodes during investigation of their electrocatalytic activities.

  • Dendrimers represent a new class of synthetic macromolecules characterized by a regularly branched treelike structure. Peculiar features of the dendritic geometry are the large number of end groups as well as the shape persistence in higher generations, approaching spherical geometry. And one of the most peculiar characteristics of dendritic macromolecules is their controlled molecular structure and orientation, which means that they have a practical application in achieving a highly organized molecular arrangement. We attempted to fabricate a G4-48PyA dendrimer LB films containing 48 pyridinealdoxime functional end group that could form a complex structure with metal ions. Also, we investigated the surface activity of dendrimer films at air-water interface. And we have studied the electrical properties of the ultra-thin dendrimer LB films. The electrical properties of the ultra-thin dendrimer LB films were investigated by studying the current-voltage characteristics of metal/dendrimer LB films/metal (MIM) structure. And rectifying behavior of the devices was occurred in applied field.

  • The effect of carbon content on hot cracking of welded carbon steel was investigated Eight steel plates whose carbon content range from 0.02 to 0.23 percent were welded by autogeous gas tungsten are process. Constant strain was applied to the hot crack test specimen under the strain rate of 0.15 mm per second during welding. The hot cracking susceptibility ws high in the rnage of 0.02-0.05 and 0.12-0.23 percent carbon contents. The critical carbon content immune to hot cracking is in the range from 0.07 to 0.12 percent carbon. By electron probe microanalyser, amanganese segregation was not seen significantly in the whole carbon range. But segregation of silicon was higher in the region of low carbon contents. However, sulphur was segregated remarkably in the region betwen 0.18 and 0.23 percent carbon by peritectic reaction. Very smal lamount of dnedritic structure was observed in the region from 0.02 to 0.05 percent carbon by peritectic reaction. Very small amount of dendritic structure was observed in the region from 0.02 to 0.05 percent carbon but the predominant solidification structure was smooth by cellular growth. The higher the carbon content is, the more the columnar dendritic structure was observed.

  • Dendrimers are well-defined macromolecules exhibiting a tree-like structure, first derived by the cascade molecule approach. We attempted to fabricate a dendrimer LB films containing 48 pyridinepropanol functional end group. As the pyridinepropanol functional group could form a complex structure with metal ions. We investigated the surface activity of dendrimer films at air-water interface compared with pure dendrimer and its complex with $Fe^{2+}$ ions into subphase. We though that metal ions are contributed to networking or branching reaction between dendrimers. And we expected that it can result in the differences on the electrical properties. We have studied the electrical properties of the ultra thin dendrimer LB films investigated by the current-voltage characteristics of metal dendrimer LB films/metal (MIM) structure.

  • Star-shaped, nonlinear optical (NLO) material was synthesized and its optical, thermal, and electro-optic properties were investigated. Three NLO-active dipolar chromophores containing a phenylene ring substituted with a bulky alkyl chain as a conjugation bridge were chemically bonded to the core of 1,1,1-tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane to form a dendritic architecture. The chemical structure and purity of the chromophore were verified by NMR spectroscopy. The chromophore exhibited a broad absorption band centered at around 608 nm tailing up to 760 nm in toluene solution and also showed a discernible solvatochromic shift in more polar solvent. The chloroform solution of the dendrimer produced an absorption band with a red-shifted maximum as large as 28 nm when compared to that of the toluene solution. It was thermally stable up to $275^{\circ}C$ in a nitrogen atmosphere and had a glass transition temperature of $76^{\circ}C$. In a preliminary result, the polymer film containing the dendritic compound exhibited a shift of 19 pm/V taken at $1.55{\mu}$.

  • The microtstructures and properties of alloys in the pseudo-binary $Bi_2Te_3-PbTe$ system were investigated as a first step towards the design of nanostructured materials with enhanced thermoelectric properties. The liquid alloys were cooled by water quenching method. Dendritic and lamellar structures were observed clearly by using environmental scanning electron microscope(eSEM) and electron probe micro analyzer(EPMA) take into account composition ratio between $Bi_2Te_3$ and PbTe. The compound $Pb_2Bi_6Te_{11}$ precipitated as a metastable phase under all conditions. The structure of those samples changed from dendritic to lamellar by increasing $Bi_2Te_3$ ratio of composition.
