Ubiquitous computing is a vogue word, and its service is very popular in Korea. However, present ubiquitous service(u-Service) is thought to be more oriented to the provider's point of view, not the consumer's. To complement this problem, an online survey was performed for internet users, which consists of 24 single choice questions on six fields such as transportation, healthcare, environment/city-management, culture/education, administration, and industry. 2463 people joined the survey, who were grouped according to their age, resident region, level of education, and sex. Each group's demand for specific field of u-Service was examined. General level of demand was higher in case of the elderly and male than the younger and female for overall u-Service.

Specialty contractors are in charge of the actual construction work and managing many work force in construction sites. The effective educational program for specialty contractors' employees is essential to improve the competitiveness of construction industry. However, there is no in-depth research on training programs for their management or technical staff. Therefore, this study proposes a framework of educational program for the specialty contractors' employees in order to enhance their competence. An extended review of literature related the educational program was carried out to understand the concept, structure, and element of the education system. A questionnaire survey for specialty contractors' employees was performed to investigate the status and problems of educational programs as well as the their educational needs. Based on the survey, the demand-oriented education programs is required to meet the needs of specialty contractors' employees. The framework of demand-oriented education programs for specialty contractors' employees consists of training contents, training type and method, training hour.

The purpose of this study is to view the current status of the smart manufacturing ecosystem and to use it as an objective basis for establishing a sustainable manpower training policy support plans for smart manufacturing suppliers. Therefore, questionnaires were constructed and distributed to 2,200 domestic smart manufacturing supply firms and 6,000 demand firms, which received responses from 259 supply firms and 155 demand firms. The results showed that both supply and demand firms needed digital converged workforce with comprehensive expertise and field-oriented digital transformation workforce. In the method of securing professional manpower, the demand for in-service training and post-management training was high. Based on the results of this study, this study suggests the manpower training policy support plans for smart manufacturing supply firms and contributes to strengthening the global market competitiveness of smart manufacturing supply firms in Korea.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of demographic data, academic demand, perfectionism, and academic failure tolerance on academic burnout of medical and graduate students at Yeungnam University. A mixed method study was conducted. Fourteen students participated in a focus group interview and 302 students, including 151 medical students and 151 graduate students, completed a survey, which addressed the factors of academic burnout, academic demand, perfectionism, and academic failure tolerance. There were significant differences in the academic burnout by age and year in school. The 2nd year medical & graduate students experienced significantly higher academic burnout than the other students. Multiple regression analysis revealed that academic burnout of medical and graduate students was significantly affected by academic demand (p<0.001), self-oriented and socially-prescribed perfectionism (p<0.001, p<0.01), and feeling and behavior, which were sub-factors of academic failure tolerance (p<0.05, p<0.01). It is suggested that comparative studies with other student groups, a longitudinal study of medical and graduate students, and a prospective study of coping styles and methods of preventing academic burnout need to be conducted.

Securing a well-trained workforce with skills and expertise is a prerequisite for the successful fostering of IT industry. Investment into human resources in a knowledge-based economy is more effective than material resources since a high quality IT workforce is recognized around the world as the key resource that decides the national competitiveness. This study examines the environments of IT industry that are ever-changing depending on technology trends such as new bases for IT technology and convergence, the concept of IT convergence. The concept and necessity of ideal talents of convergence are also addressed as the paradigm of IT industry is changing. Chapter 3 analyzes the governmental demand-oriented IT workforce training programs and supports for convergence IT workforce training centers conducted by the government as well as convergence workforce training programs. Chapter 4 analyzes, based on the survey, major factors that may affect the attempt to secure an efficient education system for convergence-oriented IT workforce training in reflection of corporate demands. Lastly, chapter 5 states the major findings and limitations of this study.

The purpose of this study is to identify demand of fusion education in the field of architecture and urban, according to architecture and urban market changing, product changing, increasing fusion education demand. We conducted online surveys targeting construction and non construction field practitioners so that we want to identify consumer's needs about fusion education in the field of architecture and urban. Research findings can be summarized in three parts. First, practitioners need to fuse business-related majors (Frequency changing ratio : financing(716.7%), management(633.3%), planning(454.5%) etc.) and traditional majors. Second, the survey results show that 79 percent of those questioned were in favor of switching the cyber and off-line operation methods for fusion education. They require the complementary education system between off-line and cyber education based on education accessability. Third, the survey results show that 70.9 percent of those questioned were in favor of limited freestyle(Freedom of choices without required subjects). The curriculum should be arranged according to the flow of construction business process including fusion subjects.

Still there is a quality mismatch between required manpower of game companies and supplied one from universities in Korean game industry. The demand-oriented workforce training project is being implemented by KOCCA(Korea Creative Content Agency) for reducing the gap. This paper is focused on the development of training course for students of the game programming department in K University. This paper derived a education training course customized to online game industry by surveying 35 companies to find their needs for recruiting. Additionally some advice is suggested for successful education training. This paper not only will contribute to verify the required competence of people force in game industry but also offer a guideline for designing curriculum for game programmer.

In its seventh revision to start in 2001, mathematics will have a new emphasis in the middle school curriculum. Mathematics subject is now composed of practical things in the use of mathematics. Also, the future of new generation, which has been known as the information age, places much focus on problem-solving in order to collect, analyze, synthesize, and judge various kinds informations. This demand of problem-solving ability is not only related with mathematical education but, along the entire educational process, its related to actual life. With this change of social structure, the importance of school education is increasing rapidly. Therefore, in order to grow abilities and create new knowledge, adapted this new method of self-oriented learning in groups to middle school 2nd graders for one year, the results were as follows : 1. Students developed their ability of the use of mathematical terms and signs correctly. 2. Students' mathematical knowledge and problem-solving ability improved as they had increased interest in mathematics. 3. Students' peership was enhanced through their communication and cooperative activities in groups during the class. 4. Students themselves were more willing to volunteer and participate during the class.

This study aims to review the present condition of human resources development in environment technology area and to explore the direction of human resources development plans, based on the results of a survey targeting experts in this area. Related papers & literatures are referred and a survey for experts' opinions are carried out. The survey was oriented to the importance and effectiveness of policies designed by Korea Ministry of environment. The main findings of this study are as follows; firstly, an emphasis should be put on generating professionals in charge of creating domestic demand for environmental purposes for promotion to make excellent environmental techniques being of practical use and help them go into businesses was turned out crucial; secondly, it is advised to upgrade the level of qualifications of environmental technicians by reforming into a graduate schoolcentered educational system on a human resource-rearing phase; thirdly, retraining should be provided by law to ensure the enhancement of re-educating the existing environmental technicians; fourth, efforts should be made to promptly develope new techniques and unify declining traditional items, deterring national technical qualification system oriented toward cultivating superintendents in the environment field.

Confronted with serious problems in nurturing IT engineers such as a mismatch in supply and demand of IT workers, shortage of globally competitive IT professionals, and insufficient education and training of university graduates, the Ministry of Information and Communication has decided to adopt a new approach in national IT engineering education, based on supply chain management (SCM) in manufacturing. SCM weighs improving competitiveness of the supply chain as a whole via a long-term commitment to supply chain relationships and a cooperative, integrated approach to business processes. These benefits of SCM are believed to provide useful insight into a more effective IT education and industry orientation. On the basis of the SCM literature, a framework for industry-oriented practical IT higher education is designed, and then applied in the field of computer-software engineering in Korea.
