An Exploratory Study on the New Product Demand Curve Estimation Using Online Auction Data

  • As the importance of time-based competition is increasing, information systems for supporting the immediate decision making is strongly required. Especially high -tech product firms are under extreme pressure of rapid response to the demand side due to relatively short life cycle of the product. Therefore, the objective of our research is proposing a framework of estimating demand curve based on e-auction data, which is extremely easy to access and well reflect the limited demand curve in that channel. Firstly, we identify the advantages of using e-auction data for full demand curve estimation and then verify it using Agent-Eased-Modeling and Tobin's censored regression model.

  • 본 논문은 건물군을 위한 개선된 수요 관리 방안을 연구하였다. 수요 반응 체계하에서 제어가능한 다양한 수요 사이드 자원을 집단화하는 것이 중요하다. 기존의 수요관리 알고리즘은 주로 단일 건물로 제한된데 반하여 본 논문은 많은 수의 건물을 위한 수요관리 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 또한, 제시된 수요관리 알고리즘을 적용하기 위한 절차를 제시하였다.

  • Demand side management can be defined as series of planning and programs to change the electric usage pattern of customers from their normal ones with a least cost while meeting customers electric demand. In general, conventional demand side management programs can be classified into two groups, one of which is a load management and the other is energy efficiency. In this paper, the load management tariff programs in Korea are explored in terms of their effect on the peak demand reduction.

두 대체품에 대한 수익관리 모형 연구 (Yield Management Models for Two Substitutable Products)

  • Yield management, which originated from the U.S. service industry, uses pricing techniques and information systems to make demand management decisions. Demand uncertainty is an important factor in the area of demand management. A key strategy to reduce the effects of demand uncertainty is substitution. The most generally known type of substitution is inventory-driven substitution, in which consumers substitute an out-of-stock product by buying a similar or other type of product. Another type of substitution is the price-driven substitution, which occurs as a result of price changes. In this research, we consider two market segments that have unique perishable products. We develop yield management optimization models with stochastic demand based on the newsvendor model where inventory-driven and price-driven substitutions are allowed between products in the two market segments. The most significant contribution of this research is that it develops analytical procedures to determine optimal solutions and considers both types of substitution. We also provide detailed theoretical analysis and numerical examples.

오픈소스를 활용한 지능형 수요반응 플랫폼 개발 (Development of Automated Demand Response Platform Using Open Source Code)

  • With the shift of the energy paradigm from supply side management to demand side management, demand resource management and demand response plays an important role in the energy industry. As a consequency, a lot of researches have been done to provide a suitable demand response system. However, most of the demand response systems are based on the propriety products that cannot be modified. In this paper, we are proposing an automated demand response system using an EnerNOC provided open source code. We implemented the demand response server (VTN) and demand response client (VEN), and validated the OpenADR2.0 compliances using the open source code. We also used an Arduino microcontoller to demonstrate the communication schemes to control various devices.

  • In this study, demand side management for efficiency enhancement of district heating has been investigated. Objectives of demand side management of district heating are classified and analyzed. Foreign and domestic examples are studied. Evaluation methods of demand side management of district heating are studied. Applications and expected effect of the results are presented. Finally directions for demand side management of district heating efficiency enhancement are suggested.

종속적 수요를 반영하는 좌석재고 할당 모형 (A Seat Inventory Management Model in the Presence of Dependent Demands)

  • When airlines sell the same seats on an air flight at different fares, demand for a fare class depends on demand for other fare classes due to demand dependency. Demand dependencies occur when customers will buy other fare class tickets if the originally requested fare were unavailable, or when customers postpone their purchase decisions in anticipation of reopening of the lower fare in the next period. Demand dependency as a result customer buying behavior has a considerable profit implication, which was ignored in many earlier studies. We investigate the impact of demand dependency on the optimal booking limits and the expected revenues under a single-period and a two-period setting. We show how to find optimal booking limits of the problem and provide numerical examples to illustrate the impact.

  • This study is focused on the problem of seat allocation for group travel demand in airlines. We first explain the characteristic of group demand and its seat allocation process. The group demand in air travel markets can be classified into two types : incentive and package groups. Allocating seats for group demand depends on the types of group demand and the relationship between airlines and travel agents. In this paper we concentrate on the package group demand and develop an optimization model for seat allocation on the demand to maximize the total revenue. With some assumptions on the demand distribution and the linear approximation technique, we develop a mixed IP model for solving our problem optimally. From the computational experiments, we can find our optimization model can be applied well for real-world application.

  • Efficient load management on natural gas is strongly required to allow stable and reasonable energy use. The present study investigated domestic and international cases for demand management of natural gas. The directions of load management were discussed. The reasonable evaluation methods of demand management were analyzed and specific evaluation items were suggested.

  • The maximum demand power management system(the demand controller) is an equipment for demand management. If the pre-estimated load is over the preset power, the demand controller make warnings and break the load circuit according to predefined priority. Then consumption power is maintained below the maximum demand power level. The DTU receives the control commands from demand controller, and then controls loads. In this paper, the power line cables are used for communication between the demand controller and DTUs and monitoring PC. The experiments show that the proposed system is compatible with the conventional system, and feasible for new or remodeling plant.
