Forecast and Demand Analysis of Oyster as Kimchi's Ingredients (김장굴의 수요 분석 및 예측)

  • This paper estimates demand functions of oyster as Kimchi's ingredients of capital area, other areas excluding a capital area, and a whole area in Korea to forecast its demand quantities in 2011~2015. To estimate oyster demand function, this paper uses pooled data produced from Korean housewives over 30 years old in 2009 and 2010. Also, this paper adopts several econometrics methods such as Ordinary Least Squares and Feasible Generalized Least Squares. First of all, to choose appropriate variables of oyster demand functions by area, this paper carries out model's specification with joint significance test. Secondly, to remedy heteroscedasticity with pooled data, this paper attempts residual plotting between estimated squared residuals and estimated dependent variable and then, if it happens, undertakes White test to care the problem. Thirdly, to test multicollinearity between variables with pooled data, this paper checks correlations between variables by area. In this analysis, oyster demand functions of a capital area and a whole area need price of the oyster, price of the cabbage for Gimjang, and income as independent variables. The function on other areas excluding a capital area only needs price of the oyster and income as ones. In addition, the oyster demand function of a whole area needed White test to care a heteroscedasticity problem and demand functions of the other two regions did not have the problem. Thus, first model was estimated by FGLS and second two models were carried out by OLS. The results suggest that oyster demand quantities per a household as Kimchi's ingredients are going to slightly increase in a capital area and a whole area, but slightly decrease in other areas excluding a capital area in 2011~2015. Also, the results show that oyster demand quantities as kimchi's ingredients for total household targeting housewives over 30 years old are going to slightly increase in three areas in 2011~2015.

A Study on the Demand Zone of Housing for New Town: Focused on Seoul Metropolitan Area (택지개발지구의 주택 수요권역 실증 연구: 수도권을 중심으로)

  • Recently one of interest concern in domestic housing market is to reduce the difference of supply and demand. Exact demand estimation by accurate demand region is a essential cue to reduce the gap. This empirical study compared the data of housing subscriber's real address with estimated demand area on household movement, which are applied by advanced studies. This empirical case data is related to 3 housing development districts in metropolitan area. As a result, This study found that the real demand area has a more widened coverage compared with those of household movement one. For to establish exact demand area, we found, more complementary considerations should be taken. Especially some factors such as distance between a project site and downtown of Seoul Metropolitan City, locational competitiveness on main demand and behind demand, and development scale are more considerable variables. In additionally, we found the demand areas are influenced by housing rental types, sizes and the real estate business trends. And also, this study found those factors should be considered with housing price and locational competitiveness.

The Variation of Industrial Location Demand by Changing Policy of Seoul Metropolitan Area (수도권 정책변화에 따른 산업입지 수요의 변동)

  • Based on the announcement by the National Competitiveness Council in 2008, this study analyzed the direction of the changing policy in Seoul Metropolitan Area promoted by the current government and to inquire into such the effect, research was done to study the changes in space demand by companies which respond sensitively to changes in regulation in Seoul Metropolitan Area. In addition, the effect of Seoul Metropolitan Area policy on company location is explored while company location changes and changes in direction of space demand due to easing of regulation in Seoul Metropolitan Area by the current government are examined. Research methods utilized empirical analysis and survey analysis. Empirical analysis utilized statistical data since 1980's. For survey analysis, the effect of changing policy in Seoul Metropolitan Area, which is an exogenous shock, on decision making of the enterprise is considered to derive the direction of demand for company manufacturing lots. The results of the study showed that decision for company location or factory size has been affected greatly by Seoul Metropolitan Area policy and domain regulation and institution to restrict permission area of a manufacturing building from the law of improvement plan of the Metropolitan area were the biggest regulatory policies. Due to easing of regulation in Seoul Metropolitan Area by the current government, the demand for manufacturing lot is expected to increase. In particular, the demand for manufacturing lot is expected to increase centered around Seoul Metropolitan Area and Chungcheong province while demand is expected to decrease in Gangwon province. The reason is because company preference is high for the Seoul Metropolitan Area which has the best transportation/logistics and market conditions in Korea. But in the case of Southeast region and Daegyung region that form exclusive economic zones, changing policy in Seoul Metropolitan Area has little impact. In the case of Seoul Metropolitan Area, demand increase does not occur in the entire area but instead, demand is expected to increase in growth management zones.

  • It is to show the problems of the existing techniques to estimate agricultural water demand and to suggest the new methods considering the water demand for non-irrigated area and decrease of water loss in canal. It is to suggest the methods to improve the techniques for estimating agricultural water demand and to analyze the water demand and supply according to the facilities capacity. Until now, the concept of per the unit used to estimate agriculture water demand is useful to estimate demand, but is insufficient to cope with the variations of conditions in future. And the paddy area of government is not realistic against a trend of decrease. Water demand decrease is caused by constructions of irrigation facilities as constructing of irrigation canal, but application loss ratio is fixed. Increase of the water demand owing to the increase of the yield per the unit area is also the actual condition which is not considered. The guide-line must contain these contents for a demand estimate.

  • Recently, according to business conditions ;in domestic are beginning to liven up, there is a lively discussion about new housing construction around the center of the Metropolitan area. It is considerable difficult for estimation of power demand exactly to expand power facilities in these area. However. criterion thesis for estimation of power demand which has been applied in present condition is already passed through the 10 years, the reliability to calculate power demand in these area go down far away. Accordingly, it is raised for methodology to evaluate new type of power demand in new housing development in domestic. This paper presents new criterion thesis for estimation of power demand in new housing development through survey and analysis in example area.

  • To overcome the mismatch of heat demand and heat supply is important as considering point on heat utilizing aspects in Urban area. At this point, It need to know the plan of heat networks on the heat balance aspects. The purpose of this study is to know the method of heat evaluation on heat network around costal area. It is need to building uses to calculate the amounts of heat demand. 25 different types of building uses were supplied, but it was reclassified 10 types and calculated the amounts of heat demand in the costal area. The results was described on the area with GIS mapping.

  • Because the structure of the economy is being changed from product-oriented and company-centered economy to service-oriented and customer-centered economy, and the market competition is varying with the competition of non-price factors, the importance for customer service of logistics system is being increased. Thus, the level of customer service should be represented as an element of the logistics decision and the facility location decision. The level of customer service provided by logistics system has an effect on customers\` purchase decisions, hence on the market demand. That is, the market demand is elastic for customer service as it is influenced by product price. Considering the effect of customer service on demand, this study develops the market area which each facility will serve. That area is circular, and distance norm is considered Euclidean and Rectilinear (or Manhattan) distance norm. The market demand for product at a particular area is affected by the level of customer service that facility provides, and the relationship between the market demand and the level of customer service is represented with a mathematical function.

  • Since the 90's, Korean Air transport market has been more expanded because of economic growth, the construction of airport infrastructure, and the advent of low cost carrier. Especially, the air traffic demand in Busan metropolitan area has been increasing steadily. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a new forecasting model which could expect the future air traffic demand in Busan area. This model is developed by regression analysis using social-economic variables such as GRDP, income, and the number of people, and dummy variables, for instance, KTX opening, Japan economic depression, SARS and so on. Result from demand forecasting by this new model suggests that the new airport system is needed in order to sustain the increasing air traffic demand in Busan area.

An Appropriate Utilization of Agricultural Water Resources of Jeju Island with Climate Change (I) (기후변화와 관련한 제주지역 농업용수의 효율적 활용 방안(I))

  • Rainfall, on Jeju Island varies regionally in relation to Mt. Halla with higher rainfall within southern area and lower in western area, and its variability is expected to expand according to the climate change scenario. Non-parametric trend analysis for rainfall, using both historic (1971-2010) and simulated (2011-2100) data assuming the A1B emissions scenario, shows regionally increasing trends with time. In perspective of agricultural land use, area for market garden including various crop types with high water demand is increasing over the Island, especially in the western area with lower rainfall compared to southern area. On the other hand, area for fruit including mandarin and kiwi with low water demand is widely distributed over southern and northern part having higher rainfall. These regional disparity of water demand/supply may be more affected by extreme events such as drought and heavy rainfall that has not yet been considered. Therefore, it is necessary to make policies for water resource management considering both demand and supply in different regions with climate change impacts over Jeju Island.

A Study on the Cremation Status of Public Cremation Facilities By Jurisdiction Area and Outside of the Jurisdiction Area Targeting Users of E-Haneul Funeral Information System in Jeollabuk-do

  • We present following research summary and implications through the analysis of the research. First, the before the opening of public cremation facilities compared to new opening of those, the number of the corpse cremation increases to annual average of 5.5% of the rate, and it has a positive effect on increasing rate of the cremation. Therefore, a policy of expanding the supply of public cremation facilities should be pursued to improve cremation rate in the area of uninstalled public cremation facilities. Second, the before the opening of public cremation facilities compared to new opening of those, the number of the corpse cremation has increased to the annual average 3,623 people(56.9%) at jurisdiction area, while it has decreased to 949 people (28.3%) at the out of the jurisdiction area. The active efforts and building the funding expansion should be made to establish public cremation facilities of the central and local governments to improve convenience of the use of public cremation facilities. Third, since the before and after opening of public cremation facilities at Jeongeup City lead to great effect on demand of jurisdiction area and out of the jurisdiction area, the cremation demand should be reduced through the supply expansion of public cremation facilities and differentiation strategy to control cremation demand at the out of the jurisdiction area, focusing on metropolitan areas with high cremation demand, such as metropolitan areas or metropolitan cities.
