A FPGA based delta modulated single phase matrix converter has been developed that may be used in both cyclo-converters and cyclo-inverters. This converter is ideal for variable speed electrical drives, induction heating, fluorescent lighting, ballasts and high frequency power supplies. The peripheral input-output and FPGA interfacing have been developed through Xilinx 9.2i, to generate delta modulated trigger pulses for the converter. The controller has been relieved of the time consuming computational task of PWM signal generation by implementing the method of trigger pulse generation in a FPGA by using Hardware Description Language VHDL in Xilinx. The trigger circuit has been tested qualitatively by observing various waveforms on an oscilloscope. The operation of the proposed system has been found to be satisfactory.

A design of a 32-bit fourth-stage decimation filter decimation filter used in sigma-delta analog-to-digital (A/D) converter is proposed in this work. A four-stage decimation filter with down-sampling factor of 512 and 32-bit output is developed. A multi-stage cascaded integrator-comb (CIC) filter, which reduces the sampling rate by 64, is used in the first stage. Three half-band FIR filters are used after the CIC filter, each of which reduces the sampling rate by two. The pipeline structure is applied in the CIC filter to reduce the power consumption of the CIC. The Canonic Signed Digit (CSD) arithmetic is used to optimize the multiplier structure of the FIR filter. This filter is implemented based on a semi-custom design flow and a 130nm CMOS standard cell library. This decimation filter operates at 98.304 MHz and provides 32-bit output data at an audio frequency of 192 kHz with power consumption of $697{\mu}W$. In comparison to the previous work, this design shows a higher performance in resolution, operation frequency and decimation factor with lower power consumption and small logic utilization.

In this paper, we researched the dielectric properties and voltage dependence on slice XLPE sheet from 22[kV] and 154[kV] power cable. studied effect for impurities and water for semiconductive shied through a dielectric properties experiment to estimate performance of insulating material in power cable. Capacitance and $tan{\delta}$ of 22[kV], 154[kV] were 52/42 pF and $7.4{\times}10^{-4}$, $2.1510^{-4}$, respectively. In these results, the trend was increased with the increase of temperature. The $tan{\delta}$ of XLPE/semiconductive layer and XLPE/water/semiconductive layer were increased as compared with that of XLPE. dielectric properties reliability of $tan{\delta}$ was small.

The modular multilevel converter (MMC) has been widely applied to various industrial areas because of its various advantages and structural characteristics. Therefore, many methods for synthesizing the output voltage of MMC have been studied. Among these methods, phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PSPWM) is frequently used in MMC systems because it has diverse merits, such as excellent output qualities even with a small number of cells and uniform power distribution among cells. In this study, the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output voltage is analyzed in accordance with the number of cells in one arm of a single-delta bridge cell MMC in order to compare PSPWM methods in terms of the THD of the output voltage. The physical characteristics of the triangle and sawtooth carrier waves used for the PSPWM and the mathematical modeling of output voltage are introduced. Then, the obtained results are verified through real-time simulation of a 1 MW single-delta bridge cell MMC system.
Purpose: The algorithm described in Lim(1998) is available to determine the sample size directly given specified significance level, power and signal-to-noise ratio. We research on the efficient determination of the sample size by visual methods. Methods: We propose three graphs for investigating the mutual relationship between the sample size r, power $1-{\beta}$ and the detectable signal-to-noise ratio ${\Delta}$. First graph shows the relationship between ${\Delta}$ and $1-{\beta}$ for the given r and it can be checked whether the power is sufficient enough. Second graph shows the relationship between r and ${\Delta}$ for the given power $1-{\beta}$. Third graph shows the relationship between r and $1-{\beta}$ for the given ${\Delta}$. It can be checked that which effects are sensitive to the efficient sample size by investigating those graphs. Results: In factorial design, randomized block design and the split plot design how to determine the sample size directly given specified significance level, power and signal-to-noise ratio is programmed by using R. A experiment to study the split plot design in Hicks(1982) is used as an example. We compare the sample sizes calculated by randomized block design with those by split plot design. By using graphs, we can check the possibility of reducing the sample size efficiently. Conclusion: The proposed visual methods can help an engineer to make a proper plan to reduce the sample size.
In order to evaluate the insulation deterioration in the stator windings of air-cooled gas turbine generators(119.2 MVA, 13.8 kV) which has been operating for more than 15 years, diagnostic test and AC dielectric breakdown test were performed on phases A, B and C. Diagnostic test included measurements of AC current, dissipation factor, partial discharge (PD) magnitude and capacitance. ${\Delta}I$ and ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ in all three phases (A, B, and C) of generator stator windings showed that they were in good condition but PD magnitude indicated marginally serviceable condition. After the diagnostic test, an AC overvoltage test was performed by gradually increasing the voltage applied to the generator stator windings until electrical insulation failure occurred, in order to determine the breakdown voltage. Although phase A of generator stator windings failed at breakdown voltage of 29.0 kV, phases B and C endured the 29.0 kV. The breakdown voltage in all three phases was higher than that expected for good-quality windings (28.6 kV) in a 13.8 kV class generator.

A sigma-delta modulator based class-D audio amplifier is presented. Parallel digital input is serialized to two-bit output by a fourth-order digital sigma-delta noise shaper. The output of the digital sigma-delta noise shaper is applied to a fourth-order analog sigma-delta modulator whose three-level output drives power switches. The pulse density modulated (PDM) output of the power switches is low-pass filtered by an LC-filter. The PDM output of the power switches is fed back to the input of the analog sigma-delta modulator. The first integrator of the analog sigma-delta modulator is a hybrid of continuous-time (CT) and switched-capacitor (SC) integrator. While the sampled input is applied to SC path, the continuous-time feedback signal is applied to CT path to suppress the noise of the PDM output. The class-D audio amplifier is fabricated in a standard $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS process and operates for the signal bandwidth from 100-Hz to 20-kHz. With 4-${\Omega}$ load, the maximum output power is 18.3-mW. The total harmonic distortion plus noise and dynamic range are 0.035-% and 80-dB, respectively. The modulator consumes 457-uW from 1.2-V power supply.
The photovoltaic generators have a nonlinear V-I characteristics and maximum power points which vary with the illumination levels and temperatures. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV systems to the load. A novel MPPT control for photovoltaic system is proposed. The system input parameters are (dP, dI, and last incremental of duty ratio $L\deltaD$)and the output is the new incremental value (new ${\deltaD}$) according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels. Using fuzzy logic controller allows extracting the maximum power rapidly and without significant oscillations. Also FLC provides excellent features such as fast response, good performance and the ability to change the fuzzy parameters to improve control system.

This study was performed to obtain fundamental data on temperature increases in the dental tissues irradiated by IO.opm laser radiation. For this purpose a experimental facility was established. which was composed of a CO2 laser. a shutter unit and a temperature sensing device. The temperature changes in the pulp chamber of extracted molars. during and after the laser irradiation. were measured as function of laser power. the time of irradration and the thickness of the sample. An empirical formula for the maximum temperature increases, $\DeltaT_m$ was derived from the measured data as follows; $\DeltaT_m=\alphaP\Delta\tauexp(-\betad)$$ where P. $\Delta\tau$ and d are the laser power(W). irradiation time{sec) and the thickness(mm) between pulp chamber and occlusal surface. respectively. Also a theoretical calculation model based on simplified assumptions were established and the results from the calculation were compared with the measured temperature data. A fairly good agreement was obtained.obtained.

The paper presents implementation of a PV fuzzy logic power tracking controller. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV system to the load. A new fuzzy MPPT is proposed, where fuzzy inputs parameters are dp/dI and the last incremental of duty of duty ratio $L{\delta}D$, and the output is the new incremental value $(new{\delta}D)$ according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels.
