There are two ways to connect an LCL filter in a grid-connected VSI. A wye connected LCL filter is general way, and the other is a delta connected LCL filter. While a model of a system with a wye connected LCL filter is calculated, a model of a system with a delta connected LCL filter is not formulated. Thus, we propose a mathematical model of a system with a delta connected LCL filter. Also, a comparative study of capacitor current harmonics of a delta connected LCL filter and a wye connected LCL filter is included. Experimental results exhibit that it is advantageous to control grid currents for a system with a delta connected LCL filter.
The objective of this study was to examine the recovery of the power plant cooling tower blowdown water (CTBD) by membrane distillation. The experiments were carried out using a flat plate poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane with a pore diameter of $0.22{\mu}m$ by a direct contact membrane distillation unit (DCMD). The effects of operating parameters such as transmembrane temperature difference (${\Delta}T$), circulation rate and operating time on permeate flux and membrane fouling have been investigated. The results indicated that permeate flux increased with increasing ${\Delta}T$ and circulation rate. Whereas maximum permeate flux was determined as $47.4L/m^2{\cdot}h$ at ${\Delta}T$ of $50^{\circ}C$ for all short term experiments, minimum permeate flux was determined as $7.7L/m^2{\cdot}h$ at ${\Delta}T$ of $20^{\circ}C$. While $40^{\circ}C$ was determined as the optimum ${\Delta}T$ in long term experiments. Inorganic and non-volatile substances caused fouling in the membranes.
This paper presents a digital implementation of delta modulation Technique for Active Power Filters. Delta modulated scheme is to control the harmonic-compensating current indirectly by adjusting the capacitor voltage to be sinusoidal. The overall control system has two feedback loops. One is the outer propotional feedback for loop regulating the dc current of active filters and the other is the inner feedback loop for maintaining the ac current waveform to be sinusoidal, and have zero power factor angle(i.e. unity power factor). The characteristics of the proposed is investigated by digital simulation using ACSL and experimental results are obtained by TMS370C756 Single-Chip Microprocessor relative to analog delta modulation technique.

To enhance the conversion speed more fast, we separate the determination process of MSB and LSB with the two independent ADC circuits of the Incremental Sigma Delta ADC. After the 1st Incremental Sigma Delta ADC conversion finished, the 2nd Incremental Sigma Delta ADC conversion start while the 1st Incremental Sigma Delta ADC work on the next input. By determining the MSB and the LSB independently, the ADC conversion speed is improved by two times better than the conventional Extended Counting Incremental Sigma Delta ADC. In processing the 2nd Incremental Sigma Delta ADC, the inverting sample/hold circuit inverts the input the 2nd Incremental Sigma Delta ADC, which is the output of switched capacitor integrator within the 1st Incremental Sigma Delta ADC block. The increased active area is relatively small by the added analog circuit, because the digital circuit area is more large than analog. In this paper, a 14 bit Extended Counting Incremental Sigma-Delta ADC is implemented in $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS process with a single 2.5 V supply voltage. The conversion speed is about 150 Ksamples/sec at a clock rate of 25 MHz. The 1 MSB is 0.02 V. The active area is $0.50\;x\;0.35mm^{2}$. The averaged power consumption is 1.7 mW.

In DC tracking power supply system, ground faults are currently detected by the potential relay, 64P. Though 64P relay detects ground fault, it cannot identify the faulted region which causes long traffic delays and safety problem to passengers. A new ground fault protective relay scheme, ${\Delta}I$ ground fault protective relay, that can identify the faulted region is presented in this paper. In ${\Delta}I$ ground fault protective relaying scheme, ground fault is detected by 59, overvoltage relay, which operates ground switch installed between the negative bus and the ground. It preliminarily chooses the faulted feeder after comparing the current increases among feeders and trips the corresponding feeder breaker. After some time delay, it then recloses the breaker if it finds the preselected feeder is not the actual faulted feeder. Whether or not the preselected feeder is the actual faulted feeder is determined by checking the breaker trip status in the neighboring substation in the direction of the tripped breaker. If the corresponding breaker in the neighboring substation is also tripped, it finally judges the preselected feeder is actually a faulted feeder. Otherwise it recloses the tripped breaker. Its algorithms is presented and verified by EMTP simulation.

In this paper, we present a low-power delta-sigma based digital frequency synthesizer with high frequency resolution for bio sensor networks. Biomedical radio-frequency (RF) transceivers require miniaturized forms with a long battery life and low power consumption. For the technology scaling, digital circuits have become preferable compared to analog circuits because of the aggressive cost, size, flexibility, and repeatability. Therefore, the digital circuits based on standard-cell library are used to reduce a power consumption. Additionally, a delta-sigma is used for making fractional frequency tuning range. From the simulation, we confirmed that proposed scheme has good performance in accordance with power and frequency resolution.
In order to provide a source for nine phases suitable for 18-pulse ac to dc power, this paper proposes a new structure for a step-up asymmetrical delta-connected transformer for converting three-phase ac power to nine-phase ac power. The design allows for symmetry between the nine output voltages to improve the power quality of the supply current and to minimize the THD. The results show that this new structure proves the equality between the output voltages with $40^{\circ}-{\alpha}$ and $40^{\circ}+{\alpha}$ phase shifting and produces symmetrical output currents. This result in the elimination of harmonics in the network current and provides a simulated THD that is equal to 5.12 %. An experimental prototype of the step-up asymmetrical delta-autotransformer is developed in the laboratory and the obtained results give a network current with a THD that is equal to 5.35%. Furthermore, a finite element analysis with a 3D magnetic field model is made based on the dimensions of the 4kVA, 400 V laboratory prototype three-phase with three-limb delta-autotransformer with a six-stacked-core in each limb. The magnetic distribution flux, field intensity and magnetic energy are carried out under open-circuit operation or load-loss.
The open delta circuit of the power transformer is still often applied, in spite of its reduced utilization of the power. In this paper, a new approach to the calculation of the power and its distribution in each transformer component is presented. For the power evaluation, the method of the complex power analysis is applied.

This paper presents air-gap control according to Y and Delta connections of a double-sided air-gap permanent magnet synchronous motor (DA-PMSM) with independent three-phase structure. In particular, the DA-PMSM used in this study can be applied to low-speed and high-torque applications, such as wind turbines, tidal power generations, and electric propulsion ships, because of its modular stators and a rotor with numerous permanent magnets. Unlike conventional three-phase machines, the DA-PMSM has a symmetrical configuration with double-sided air-gap. Therefore, Y/Delta winding connections and serial/parallel configurations between stator modules are possible. To identify the DA-PMSM operating characteristics, mathematical modeling is analyzed according to the Y/Delta connections. Moreover, air-gap control performances by applying the winding connection methods are verified through experimental results.
As the energy consumption increases rapidly, power generation needs the high energy efficiency continuously. To achieve the high efficiency of power generation, the materials used have to endure the higher temperature and pressure. The 9-12%Cr steels possess good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and creep strength in high temperature due to high Cr contents. Therefore, the 9-12%Cr steels are widely used for the high-temperature components in power plants. Even though the steels usually have a fully martensitic microstructure, they are susceptible to the formation of ${\delta}$-ferrite specifically during the welding process. The formation of ${\delta}$-ferrite has several detrimental effects on creep, ductility and toughness. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid its formation. As the volume fraction of ${\delta}$-ferrite is less than 2% in microstructure, it has the isolated island morphology and causes no significant degradation on mechanical properties. For ${\delta}$-ferrite above 2%, it has a polygonal shape affecting the detrimental influence on the mechanical properties. The formation of ${\delta}$-ferrite is affected by two factors: a chemical composition and a welding heat input. The most effective ways to get a fully martensite microstructure are to reduce the chromium equivalent less than 13.5, to keep the difference between the chromium and nickel equivalent less than 8, and to reduce the welding heat input.
