According to the fast-paced environment of information technology and improving customer services, the design activities of logistics systems improve customer centric services and delivery performance implementing e-logistics system. The fundamental design issues that arise in the delivery system planning are optimizing the system with minimum cost and maximum throughput and service level. This study is concerned with the integrated model development of delivery system with customer responsive service level for DCM, Demand Chain Management. We used a two-step approach for this study. First, we formulated the supply. center facility planning using stochastic set-covering problem and assigned the customers to the supply center using clustering algorithm. Second, we developed vehicle delivery planning for a supply center based on GIS, GIS-VRP. Also we developed a GUI-type computer program for proposed method for supply center problem using GIS and Geo-DataBase of Busan area. The computational results showed that the proposed method was very effective on a set of test problems.

This paper considers a joint problem for blood inventory planning at hospitals and blood delivery planning from blood centers to hospitals, in order to alleviate the blood service imbalance between big and small hospitals being occurred in practice. The joint problem is to determine delivery timing, delivery quantity, delivery means such as medical drones and legacy blood vehicles, and inventory level to minimize inventory and delivery costs while satisfying hospitals' blood demand over a planning horizon. This problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming model by considering practical constraints such as blood lifespan and drone specification. To solve the problem, this paper employs a Lagrangian relaxation technique and suggests a time efficient Lagrangian heuristic algorithm. The performance of the suggested heuristic is evaluated by conducting computational experiments on randomly-generated problem instances, which are generated by mimicking the real data of Korean Red Cross in Seoul and other reliable sources. The results of computational experiments show that the suggested heuristic obtains near-optimal solutions in a shorter amount of time. In addition, we discuss the effect of changes in the length of blood lifespan, the number of planning periods, the number of hospitals, and drone specifications on the performance of the suggested Lagrangian heuristic.
Global e-commerce and delivery companies are actively pursuing last-mile delivery service using drones, and various delivery schedule planning studies have been conducted. In this study, separate individual route networks were constructed to reflect drone route constraints such as prohibited airspace and truck route constraints such as rivers, which previous studies did not incorporate. The A* algorithm was used to calculate the shortest path distance matrix between the starting point and destinations. In addition, we proposed an optimal delivery schedule plan using genetic algorithms and applied it to compare the efficiency with that of vehicle-only delivery.

The procedure and implementation of an simulation based production planning and scheduling system. Production planning and scheduling is important problem in manufacturing field. It is so important for delivery quality as well as productivity, too. In this paper, heuristic production planning and scheduling module for improving delivery quality and productivity will be discussed. Beginning with total demand and initial work in process, the algorithms for production scheduling and planning can efficiently generate a feasible production resources and capacity schedule results in high resource utilization, minimum number of the late orders and reduced labor variability. The algorithm is executed to achieve the best on time delivery performance. The developed heuristic algorithms in the module will be expected to provide the better delivery performance and productivity.

Recently, robots have been actively utilized for logistics and delivery services in various places such as restaurants, hotels, and hospitals. In addition, it provides a safer environment, convenience, and cost efficiency to the customers. However, when it comes to autonomous delivery in a multi-floor environment, the task is still challenging. Especially for wheeled mobile robots, it is necessary to deal with elevators to perform the last-mile delivery services. Therefore, we present a multi-floor route planning algorithm that enables a wheeled mobile robot to traverse an elevator for the delivery service. In addition, an elevator boarding mission algorithm was developed to perceive the drivable region within the elevator and generate a feasible path that is collision-free. The algorithm was tested with real-world experiments and was demonstrated to perform autonomous postal delivery service in a multi-floor building. We concluded that our study could contribute to building a stable autonomous driving robot system for a multi-floor environment.
In this paper, we describe an intelligent monitoring and control system for pick-up/delivery service. This system applies geographical information system(GIS), global positioning system(GPS) and wireless communication technologies for managing pick-up/delivery operations more effectively. It consists of three subsystems, pick-up/delivery sequence planning system, pick-up/delivery monitoring system, and PDA execution system. Pick-up/delivery sequence planning system generates routes and schedules for pick-up/delivery using GIS and optimization techniques. Pick-up/delivery monitoring system monitors current positions of vehicles and actual pick-up/delivery results as compared with planned routes and visit times, while PDA execution system transmits information for vehicles positions and actual pick-up/delivery results using GPS and wireless communication technologies. The intelligent monitoring and control system is currently being used for the pick-up parcel service in a local post office of Korea Post.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the results from statistical process control (SPC) to recommend upper and lower control limits for planning parameters based on delivery quality assurance (DQA) results and establish our institutional guidelines regarding planning parameters for helical tomotherapy (HT). A total of 53 brain, 41 head and neck (H & N), and 51 pelvis cases who had passing or failing DQA measurements were selected. The absolute point dose difference (DD) and the global gamma passing rate (GPR) for all patients were analyzed. Control charts were used to evaluate upper and lower control limits (UCL and LCL) for all assessed treatment planning parameters. Treatment planning parameters were analyzed to provide its range for DQA pass cases. We confirmed that the probability of DQA failure was higher when the proportion of leaf open time (LOT) below 100 ms was greater than 30%. LOT and gantry period (GP) were significant predictor for DQA failure using the SPC method. We investigated the availability of the SPC statistic method to establish the local planning guideline based on DQA results for HT system. The guideline of each planning parameter in HT may assist in the prediction of DQA failure using the SPC statistic method in the future.

The demands on hospital facilities are increasing because of the higher living standard and the advanced medical technology. The user-oriented concept of LDR/P(Labor, Delivery, Recovery/Postpartum), which reflects the current demand, were proposed in the delivery center and was recently introduced to Korea. This study aims to represent the data base for architectural planning and the design of the LDR/P in delivery center reflecting the domestic situation. The case study was performed to investigate the change of space and to consider the architectural characteristics of LDR system in delivery center.
This paper discussed plurality in urban governance in Nigeria and its implication on delivery of urban environmental services, with a focus on water supply, sanitation and solid waste disposal. Conceptually, it explained urban governance as the sum total of the ways of achieving an inclusive city and expressed the urban governance system of Nigeria based the legal framework set for them. The paper explored the environmental implications of urban governance in Nigeria. It concluded that urban governance has several implications on delivery of urban environmental services in Nigeria. The dualism in urban governance is a factor contributing towards inefficient delivery of environmental services such as water supply, sanitation and solid waste management in Nigeria. The paper recommended, among others, a constitutional reform that will guarantee efficient urban governance and delivery of environmental services in Nigeria.
In this paper, we develop a planning system for the routing and scheduling of vehicles in pickup and delivery service such as door-to-door parcel service. Efficient routing and scheduling of vehicles is very important in pickup and delivery service. The routing and scheduling problem is a variation of vehicle routing problem which has various realistic constraints. We develop a heuristic algorithm based on tabu search to solve the routing and scheduling problem. We develop a routing and scheduling system installed the algorithm as a planning engine. The system manage the basic data and uses GIS data to make a realistic route plan.
