In this paper, to examine the difference between the linear and non-linear static, dynamic analysis for a structure, a cantilevered beam was used. Then, an external transverse static and dynamic loads were applied at the free end of the beam. Classical theories were used for the linear analysis and the EDISON CSD solver, co-rotational dynamic FEM program, was used for nonlinear analysis. In the static analysis, effects of the load for the beam deflection were observed in the linear and nonlinear analysis. Then, normalized displacement of tip of the beam was predicted for different frequency ration and a significant difference was obtained in the vicinity of the resonant frequency. In addition, effects of frequency and time for the beam deflection were investigated to find the frequency delay.

High-level design aids are mandatory for design of a continuous-time delta-sigma modulator (CTDSM). This paper proposes a top-down methodology design to generate a noise transfer function (NTF) which is compensated for excess loop delay (ELD). This method is applicable to low pass loop-filter topologies. Non-ideal effects including ELD, integrator scaling issue, finite op-amp performance, clock jitter and DAC inaccuracies are explicitly represented in a behavioral simulation of a CTDSM. Mathematical modeling using MATLAB is supplemented with circuit-level simulation using Verilog-A blocks. Behavioral simulation and circuit-level simulation using Verilog-A blocks are used to validate our approach.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of aromatics and T90 temperature for high cetane number (CN) of diesel fuels on combustion and exhaust emissions in low-temperature diesel combustion in a 1.9 L common rail direct injection diesel engine at 1500 rpm and 2.6 bar BMEP. Four sets of fuels with CN 55, aromatic content of 20% or 45% (vol. %), and T90 temperature of $270^{\circ}C$ or $340^{\circ}C$ were tested. Given engine operating conditions, all the fuels showed the same tendency of decrease of PM with an increase of an ignition delay time. At the same ignition delay time, the fuels with high T90 produced higher PM. At the same MFB50% location the amount of NOx was similar for all the fuels. Furthermore, at the same ignition delay time the amounts of THC and CO were similar as well for all the fuels. The amount of THC and CO increased with an extension of the ignition delay time mainly because of the increase of fuel-air over-mixing.

Background and Objectives: The integration of auditory-visual speech information improves speech perception; however, if the auditory system input is disrupted due to hearing loss, auditory and visual inputs cannot be fully integrated. Additionally, temporal coincidence of auditory and visual input is a significantly important factor in integrating the input of these two senses. Time delayed acoustic pathway caused by the signal passing through digital signal processing. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of hearing loss and hearing aid digital delay circuit on sound-induced flash illusion. Subjects and Methods: A total of 13 adults with normal hearing, 13 with mild to moderate hearing loss, and 13 with moderate to severe hearing loss were enrolled in this study. Subsequently, the sound-induced flash illusion test was conducted, and the results were analyzed. Results: The results showed that hearing aid digital delay and hearing loss had no detrimental effect on sound-induced flash illusion. Conclusions: Transmission velocity and neural transduction rate of the auditory inputs decreased in patients with hearing loss. Hence, the integrating auditory and visual sensory cannot be combined completely. Although the transmission rate of the auditory sense input was approximately normal when the hearing aid was prescribed. Thus, it can be concluded that the processing delay in the hearing aid circuit is insufficient to disrupt the integration of auditory and visual information.
In control of time delay systems, if the informations about the system model and the disturbance can be estimated exactly, the ideal response can be achieved by using Smith predictor controller. Therefore, in this paper, an adaptive algorithm is proposed to control time delay systems existing modelling errors and disturbance. An adaptive observer to estimate disturbance and system model is designed and adaptive laws adjusting the observer are proposed. The new Smith predictor controller is designed using the proposed adaptive observer. As a result, the proposed controller can eliminate the effects of the disturbance and the modelling error. The effectiveness and the improved performance of the proposed system are verified by computer simulation.

In this paper, we propose a synchronization protocol for underwater acoustic networks which aims to minimize the effects of long propagation delay and uncertain delay variations and employs packet train scheme with considering low data rate. The proposed protocol uses an one-way delay measurement method by transmitting consecutive packets and acquires synchronization only considering propagation delay variations by calculating packet arrival time differences. We perform simulations under various network conditions, such as node mobility, time interval for packet transmission, network range, and elapsed time after synchronizing. The simulation results shows the superiority of our protocol, compared with a previously proposed protocol.

A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of the flow in an inducer is carried out under flow rate oscillations. The present study focuses on the dynamic response of the backflow and the unsteady pressure performance to the flow rate fluctuations under non-cavitation conditions. The amplitude of angular momentum fluctuation evaluated by LES is larger than that evaluated by RANS. However, the phase delay of backflow is nearly the same as RANS calculation. The pressure performance curve exhibits a closed curve caused by the inertia effect associated with the flow rate fluctuations. Compared with simplified one dimensional evaluation of the inertia component, the component obtained by LES is smaller. The negative slope of averaged performance curve becomes larger under unsteady conditions. From the conservations of angular momentum and energy, an expression useful for the evaluation of unsteady pressure rise was obtained. The examination of each term of this expression show that the apparent decrease of inertia effects is caused by the response delay of Euler's head and that the increase of negative slope is caused by the delay of inertial term associated with the delay of backflow response. These results are qualitatively confirmed by experiments.

One-sided and two-sided ATF for GNSS receiver are deigned, implemented and evaluated in this paper. The difference f filter characteristics such as the location of zeros and the frequency response is reviewed and examined with experiments. NLMS adaptation algorithm is adopted for updating the weighting coefficients of the 12-tap FIR filter. he performance of ATF is evaluated using real signals consisting of the signals from GPS simulator and the signal generator. The output of ATF is fed into the SDR to evaluate SNR and the position accuracy. The complexity of implementation is also compared and the effects of the time delay and the phase delay are examined. The experimental results show that one-sided and two-sided ATF give similar performance against single tone CWI.
Many methods and techniques to reduce ground vibrations are well known. Some of them are to adopt electric milisecond detonators with a sequential blasting machine or an initiating system with an adequate number of delay intervals. The types of electric detonators munufactured in Korea include instantaneous, decisecond and milisecond delays byt numbers of delay intervals are only limite from No.1 to No.20 respectively. It is not sufficient to control accurately milisecond time with these detonators in tunnel excavation. Sequential fire time refers to adding an external time delay to a detonators norminal firing time to obtain sequential initiation and it is determined by sequential timer setting. To reduce the vibration level, sequential blasting machine with decisecond detonatore was adopted. A total of 134 blasting was recorded at various sites. Blast-to-structure distances ranged from 20.3 to 42.0 meter, where charge weight varied from 0.25 to 0.75 kg per delay. The results can be summarized as follow : 1. The effects of sequential blasting machine on the vibration level are discussed. The vibration level by S.B.M. are decreased approximately 14.38~18.05 to compare to level of conventional blasting and cycle time per round can be saved. 2. The empirical equations of particle velocity were obtained in S,B.M. and conventional blastin. $V=K(D/W^{1/3})-n$. where the values for n and k are estimated to be 1.665 to 1.710 and 93.59 to 137 respectively. 3. The growth of cracks due to vibrations are found but the level fall to within allowable value.
Ignition delay time of methane/oxygen mixture is measured experimentally with the shock tube in order to obtain the data for high pressure conditions where gas turbines and internal combustion engines are operating. The shock tube experiment is validated first over the temperature range of 1400-2000 K at 10 bar and with the various equivalence ratios of 0.5, 1 and 2. The measured ignition delays are compared with the data from the literatures. And then, experiments are conducted for non-explored conditions, i.e., at 40 bar and with the equivalence ratio of 1.5. The present experimental data show a good agreement with the available ones from the literatures and reasonable dependence on pressure and equivalence ratio. In addition, the effects of the temperature and equivalence ratio on ignition delay time are analyzed.
