A prescaler is an essential building block for PLL-based frequency synthesizers and must satisfy high-speed and low-power characteristics. The design of D-flip flips used in the prescaler implementation is thus critical. Conventional TSPC D-flip flops suffer from glitches, unbalanced propagation delay, and unnecessary charge/discharge at internal nodes in precharge phase, which results in increased power consumption. In this paper a new dynamic D-flip flop is proposed to overcome these problems. Glitches are minimized using discharge suppression scheme, speed is improved by making balanced propagation delay, and low power consumption is achieved by removing unnecessary discharge. The proposed D-flip flop is employed in designing a 128/129 dual-modulus prescaler using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process parameters. The designed prescaler operates up to 5GHz while conventional one can operate up to 4.5GHz under same conditions. It consumes 0.394mW at 4GHz that is a 34% improved result compared with conventional one.

Road tunnel lengths are increasing. Some 1,300 tunnels with 1,102 km in length had been increased till 2019 from 2010. There are 64 tunnels over 3,000 m in length, with their total length adding up to 276.7 km. Safety facilities in the event of a tunnel fire are critical so as to prevent large-scale casualties. Standards for installing disaster prevention facilities are being proposed based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, but they may be limited to deep underground tunnels. This study was undertaken to provide guidelines for the spacing of evacuation connection passages and the widths of evacuation connection doors. Evacuation with various spacing and widths was simulated in regards to evacuation time, which is the measure of safety, using the evacuation analysis simulation software EXODUS Ver.6.3 and the fire/smoke analysis software SMARTFIRE Ver.4.1. Evacuation connection gates with widths of 0.9 m and 1.2 m, and spacings of 150 m to 250 m, were set to every 20 m. In addition, longitudinal slopes of 6 % and 0 % were considered. It was determined to be safe when the evacuation completion time was shorter than the delay diffusion time. According to the simulation results, all occupants could complete evacuation before smoke spread regardless of the width of the evacuation connection door when the longitudinal slope was 6 % and the interval of evacuation connection passage was 150 m. When the evacuation connection passage spacing was 200 m and the evacuation connection gate width was 1.2 m, all occupants could evacuate when the longitudinal slope was 0 %. Due to difference in evacuation speed according to the longitudinal slope, the evacuation time with a 6 % slope was 114 seconds shorter (with the 190 m connection passage) than with a 0 % slope. A shorter spacing of evacuation connection passages may reduce the evacuation time, but this is difficult to implement in practice because of economic and structural limitations. If the width of the evacuation junction is 1.2 m, occupants could evacuate faster than with a 0.9 m width. When the width of a connection door is 1.2 m with appropriate connection passage spacing, it might provide a means to increase economic efficiency and resolve structural limitations while securing evacuation safety.
Background: There is no standard treatment for patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) progressing after irinotecan and oxaliplatin treatment. Here we aimed to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of raltitrexed in combination with oral 5-fluoropyrimidine (uracil tegafur-UFT) or mitomycin C as salvage therapy in mCRC patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 62 patients who had received raltitrexed combined with UFT or mitomycin C were identified between December 2008 and June 2013. They were given raltitrexed 2.6 $mg/m^2$ (max 5 mg) i.v. on day 1 in combination with either oral UFT 500 mg/day on days 1-14 every 3 weeks (group A) or mitomycin C 6 $mg/m^2$ i.v. on day every 3 weeks (group B). Results: Forty-two patients (67.7%) were in group A and 20 (32.2%) in group B. In 15 patients (24%) grade 3/4 toxicity was observed, resulting in dose reduction, and in 13 patients (20.9%) dose delay was necessary. The median progression free survival (PFS) was 3 months (95%CI 2.65-3.34) and median overall survival (OS) was 6 months (95%CI 2.09-9.90) in the whole group. Median PFS was 3 months (95%CI 2.60-3.39) in group A vs 3 months (95%CI 1.64-4.35) in group B (p=0.90). Median OS was 6 months (95%CI 2.47-9.53) in group A vs 12 months (95%CI 2.83-21.1) in group B (p=0.46). Conclusions: The combination of raltitrexed with UFT or mitomycin C seem to be a salvage therapy option due to safety profile and moderate clinical activity in heavily-pretreated mCRC patients.
A new fiber optical sensor was developed for the determination of 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP). The sensor was based on DCP oxidation by oxygen with the catalysis of iron(III) tetrasulfophthalocyanine (Fe(III)PcTs). The optical oxygen sensing film with $Ru(bpy)_3Cl_2$ as the fluorescence indicator was used to determine the consumption of oxygen in solution. A lock-in amplifier was used for detecting the lifetime of the oxygen sensing film by measuring the phase delay change of the sensor head. The different variables affecting the sensor performance were evaluated and optimized. Under the optimal conditions (i.e. pH 6.0, $25^{\circ}C$, Fe(III)PcTs concentration of 0.62 mg/mL), the linear detection range and response time of the sensor are $1.0{\times}10^{-6}-9.0{\times}10^{-6}$ mol/L and 250 s, respectively. The sensor displays high selectivity, good repeatability and stability, and can be used as an effective tool in analyzing DCP concentration in practical samples.

In this paper, a precise relative positioning with TD(time differenced) carrier phase measurements from a low-cost GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver is proposed and analysed. The proposed method is using carrier phase measurement from a single GNSS receiver that reference receiver is not required and stand alone positioning is possible. TD operation removes the troublesome integer ambiguity resolution problem, and if the time interval is short, other error, such as, ionospheric, tropospheric delay and ephemeris error are effectively eliminated. The error analysis of the proposed method shows that a precise and positioning with carrier phase is possible. The implemented system is evaluated using a real car experiments. The results show that the horizontal positioning error was less than 3m during 10 minutes experiments, which is 4 times more precise than the results of normal code based absolute positioning.
Purpose: We used technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) scintigraphy to identify factors predictive of renal cortical defects in infants <3 months of age with urinary tract infections (UTIs). Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data on infants <3 months of age with culture-proven UTIs treated at a single center from March 2010 to February 2016. Blood samples were obtained for laboratory evaluation prior to commencement of antibiotic therapy. The therapeutic delay time (TDT) and therapeutic response time (TRT) were recorded. All patients were divided into two groups depending on features of their DMSA scans. We compared the demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of the two groups. Results: A total of 119 infants (94 males and 25 females; mean age, $56.9{\pm}21.3days$) were included. Cortical defects were evident in the DMSA scans of 47 cases (39.5%). In infants with such defects, the peak temperatures ($38.9{\pm}0.57^{\circ}C$ vs. $38.4{\pm}0.81^{\circ}C$, P=0.001), the absolute neutrophil counts ($8,920{\pm}4,460/mm$ vs. $7,290{\pm}4,090/mm$, P=0.043), and the C-reactive protein (CRP) levels ($6.49{\pm}4.33mg/dL$ vs. $3.21{\pm}2.81mg/dL$, P=0.001) were significantly higher than those in infants without cortical defects. The TDT was also longer in those with cortical defects (P=0.037). Conclusion: We found that a TDT ${\geq}8.5hr$ (odds ratio [OR] 5.81), a peak temperature ${\geq}38.3^{\circ}C$ (OR 6.19), and a CRP level ${\geq}4.96mg/dL$ (OR 7.26) predicted abnormal DMSA scan results in infants <3 months of age with UTIs.

In the paper, we propose a new method for power optimization that uses path balancing based on stochastic estimation of glitch in Statistical Static Timing Analysis (SSTA). The proposed method estimates the probability of glitch occurrence using tightness probability of each node in timing graph. In addition, we propose efficient gate sizing technique for glitch reduction using accurate calculation of sizing effect in delay considering probability of glitch occurrence. The efficiency of proposed method has been verified on ISCAS85 benchmark circuits with $0.16{\mu}m$ model parameters. Experimental results show up to 8.6% of accuracy improvement in glitch estimation and 9.5% of optimization improvement.
A 3-GSymbol/s/lane transceiver, which supports the mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) C-physical layer (PHY) specification version 1.1, is proposed. It performs channel mismatch correction to improve the signal integrity that is deteriorated by using three-level signals over three channels. The proposed channel mismatch correction is performed by detecting channel mismatches in the receiver and adjusting the delay times of the transmission data in the transmitter according to the detection result. The channel mismatch detection in the receiver is performed by comparing the phases of the received signals with respect to the pre-determined data pattern transmitted from the transmitter. The proposed MIPI C-PHY receiver is designed using a 65 nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process with 1.2 V supply voltage. The area and power consumption of each transceiver lane are 0.136 ㎟ and 17.4 mW/GSymbol/s, respectively. The proposed channel mismatch correction reduces the time jitter of 88.6 ps caused by the channel mismatch to 34.9 ps.

In this paper, we design a entorpy encoder of HDTV/DTV encoder blocks on the basis of MPEG-II. The designed entropy encoder outputs its bit stream at 9Mbps bit rate inserting zero-stepping block to protect the depletion of buffer in case that the generated bit stream is stored in buffer and uses not only PROM bit combinational circuit to solve the problem of critical path, and packer block, one of submerge, is designed to packing into 24 bit unit using barrel shifter, and it is constructed to blocks of header information encoder, input information delay, submerge, and buffer control. Designed circuits is verified by VHDL function simulation, as a result of performing P&R with Gate compiler that apply $0.8{\mu}m$ Gate Array specification, pin and gate number of total circuits has been tested to each 235 and about 120,000.

D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is a secondary messenger in insulin signal transduction. It is produced in vivo from myo-inositol via action of epimerase. In this study, we evaluated antitumor activity of DCI against human breast cancer both in vitro and in vivo. In order to determine the inhibitory effects of DCI on growth of human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231), two different assessment methods were implemented: MTT assay and mouse xenograft assay. MTT assay demonstrated downturn in cell proliferation by DCI treatment (1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mM) groups by 18.3% (p < 0.05), 17.2% (p < 0.05), 17.5% (p < 0.05), 18.4% (p < 0.05), and 24.9% (p < 0.01), respectively. Also, inhibition of tumor growth was investigated in mouse xenograft model. DCI was administered orally at the dose of 500 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg body weight to treat nude mouse for 45 consecutive days. On the 45th day, tumor growth of DCI (500 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg) groups was suppressed by 22.1% and 67.6% as mean tumor volumes were $9313.8{\pm}474.1mm^3$ and $3879.1{\pm}1044.1mm^3$, respectively. Furthermore, breast cancer stem cell (CSC) phenotype ($CD44^+/C24^-$) was measured using flow cytometry. On the 46th day, CSC ratios of DCI (500 mg/kg) and co-treatment with doxorubicin (4 mg/kg) and DCI (500 mg/kg) group decreased by 24.7% and 53.9% (p < 0.01), respectively. Finally, from tumor recurrence assay, delay of 5 days in the co-treatment group compared to doxorubicin (4 mg/kg) alone group was observed. Based on these findings, we propose that DCI holds potential as an anti-cancer drug for treatment of breast cancer.
