An Experimental Study on the Dehumidification Characteristics and the Effectiveness for Operating Conditions of a Desiccant Rotor (운전조건에 따른 제습로터의 제습특성과 유용도에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the dehumidification characteristics for several operating conditions of a compact desiccant rotor. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a desiccant type of dehumidifier. Room temperature, room humidity, regeneration temperature, revolution speed and frontal air velocity of desiccant rotor are varied as operating conditions. The results obtained indicate that dehumidification rate is increased with an increase in the room humidity while dehumidification effectiveness is not changed much. It is also found that the optimal rotor speed and optimal regeneration temperature exist for maximum dehumidification rate and dehumidification effectiveness.

An Experimental Study on the Discharge Coefficients of Small Sonic Nozzles (소형 소닉 노즐의 유출계수에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Small sonic nozzles (throat diameter $0.28{\~}4.48mm$) were tested in the gas flow standard system. This standard system is composed of two bell provers and 5 column piston provers, compressor, filters, and dehumidifier. The discharge coefficients of small some nozzles are obtained and correlated as a function of throat Reynolds numbers with $0.316\%$ uncertainty at a confidence level $95\%$. The tested high Reynolds number was the lower limit of ISO 9300 specifications. The data are useful as data base for revision of ISO 9300.

  • Desiccant systems have been proposed as energy saving alternatives to vapor compression air conditioning for handling the latent load. Use of liquid desiccants offers several design and performance advantages over solid desiccants, especially when solar energy is used for regeneration. The liquid desiccants contact the gas inside the packed column and the heat transfer and mass transfer will occur. This proposal is try study the mass transfer and heat transfer inside the packed column of dehumidifier and regenerator systems. And later on, the rates of dehumidification and regeneration that were affected by desiccant flow rates, air temperature and humidity, and desiccant temperature and all that variation will influence the performance of the systems.

  • An air handling unit(AHU) has been usually designed by manual calculations. Drawing works together with design calculations should be redone far every designing work, and also be needed to make some corrections of them. In order to design the AHU more efficiently, an AHU program has been developed. The developed program on the Windows environment is operated by the graphic user interface(GUI) realized using the Visual Basic Interpreter. The program provides calculation sheet of coils, weights and pressures in a MS-Excel file format as well as design drawing of the AHU in a Auto CAD file format idealized by AutoLISP. Those files of the commercial softwares make easier for a designer to transfer design results to the another company for bid via e-mail.

  • 연전식 제습기는 제습판과 발열판, 열전식 열펌프, 팬과 모타, 직류 전원공급 장치로구성되어 있으며, 열전식 열펌프에 직류전원을 공급하면 고온면과 저온면이 발생하는 데 저온면의 온도룰 로점온도 이하로 냉각하여 공기중에 있는 수분을 제거하는 원리를 이용한 것이다. 초기 단계로 개발된 열전식 열펌프를 이용한 열전식 제습기(TED-92)는 기계식 제습기에 비하 여 제습효율이 너무 낮기 때문에, 본 연구에서는 여러 문제점을 개선하는 방법으로 열전식 열펌 프의 선정, 핀 설계, 제습기의 설계 등을 중점적으로 개선하여열전식 제습기 (TED-95)를 개발하 였다. 여러가지 방법으로 실험한 결과, 열전식 열펌프 CP1.4-127-045L 2개를 사용하여 발열판의 크기를 300 mm로 하여 단열재를 사용하지 않고 입력 전류를 4A를 입력하였을 때 단위전력당 제 습량이 가장 많았다. 열전식 제습기와 기계식 제습기를 비교실험 해본 결과, 열전식 제습기가 기 계식 제습기에 비해 약 21%의 제습효율을 나타 내었다. 그러므로 초기의 열전식 제습기 (TED-92) 보다 약 2배의 제습효율을 높였다.

  • Desiccant based air conditioning system offers a promising alternative to conventional one using vapour compression refrigeration for energy saving and greenhouse gas reduction. It is a heat driven cycle which has high potential for the use of low grade heat source such as the waste heat from the cogeneration plant or the solar thermal energy. In this study, the cooling performance of a desiccant cooling system incorporating a regenerative evaporative cooler was characterized in various operation conditions through numerical simulation. The cooling capacity and COP were evaluated at various outdoor conditions, regeneration temperatures, and supply flow rates. Based on the performance characteristics, the optimal control scheme was discussed to minimize the cooling cost at part load condition.

  • The Desiccant air conditioning system has been designed as the industrial dehumidifier under the leadership of developed countries, considering CFC problems in 1990, indoor air quality(IAQ) and outdoor air intake rates. This could make the technical differences between them and us. Nowadays, domestic technology has been developed in some parts but there still remain many challenges to be managed. In this study, these tasks would be handled according to the desiccant air conditioning system market and prospects.

  • This paper presents an effective cooling dehumidification method to remove odorous gas from food-wastes. The odorous gases, such as Styrene, Ammonia, Hydrogen sulfide and Acetaldehyde, are produced in environments where temperature is $50\sim80^{\circ}C$ and humidity is $40\sim70%$. Under such conditions, experiments are performed reiteratively using experiment equipments. The effect of the cooling dehumidification is measured via measuring instrument, and this research is focused on improving efficiency. The effect of cooling dehumidification using measuring instrument is validated. At $80^{\circ}C$, four type of gases that was mentioned previously showed generally better cooling efficiency with a good result for a component concentration. Among them, hydrogen sulfide gas demonstrated the highest reduction of 50%.

  • An experimental external external collector type, solar dehumidification dryer was retrofitted with a simple computer-based control system. Solar, solar-dehumidification, and air-drying of 3cm-thick douglas-fir were carried out to investigate the drying-conditions and characteristics of this system, and to analyze the energy efficiencies of each drying met hods in summer. The drying rate of solar-dehumidification was 12%/day, which was about 2 times and 3 times faster than that of solar-and air-drying, respectively. The amount of diurnal temperature fluctuation inside the solar-dryer was greatly reduced and the energy efficiency was enhanced from 25% to 60% by the dehumidifier.
