The performance of TCP depends on the degree of traffic congestion between the sender and the receiver. The traffic could increase, and this causes congestion which may cause trouble in data transfer. Then, TCP tries to eliminate the trouble by reducing the transfer speed with slowstart scheme. When a mobile node moves over heterogeneous wireless networks, TCP experiences dramatic change of the amount of traffic, and it performs slowstart. In this paper, we propose the efficient scheme of TCP slowstart that should performs after vertical handoff. In this scheme, TCP receiver forces slowstart, which is different form normal schemes. Its performance is better than the normal schemes in that TCP sender experiences traffic congestion and performs slowstart. We perform simulation to measure and to verify the improved performance.

Body sizing of has been recognized as an important element affecting the degree of customer satisfaction in the apparel industry. Recent developments in IT technologies have enabled more studies in custom-made apparel systems that comply with the diverse demands from customers in many countries. Diverse methods to obtain personal physical size are being studied. This study estimates the accuracy by developing the system in which the data of length and girth can be calculated through changing a modeling by comparing the data with circular 3-dimensional physical configuration data. This information was computed from the process (such as the conversion to a standardize image) which utilizes the image capture of 2-dimensional three sides (front, side, and rear), contour tracing, and key-node selection and by realizing it in the real world.

Since logical ground and method to deduct location to install Integrated Standard Controller under development to combine physically and functionally multiple enclosures of controllers for various ITS equipments on streets into one enclosure, there are much difficulty to apply it to site. Particularly we need to establish standardized methodology to deduct optimal location to integrate individual controllers installed dispersedly on streets such as node part and line part. Accordingly this study has the purpose of suggesting more reasonable and efficient methodology to determine location for Integrated Standard Controller to be developed newly. For this, new solution has been searched by using centroid which is utilized to decide facility location in urban planning. As the result of analysis, central point among centroid, in which equal connection to each equipment is possible is proved to be the most reasonable and correct coordinate and zone is proposed as installation location through designating coordinate system. The methodology suggested by this study seems to have high degree of utilization in site according to expansion of integrated standard controller market.

For improvement of wireless Internet service quality at vehicle's moving speed, it is advised to reduce the service disruption time by reducing the handover frequency on vehicle's moving path. Particularly, it is advantageous to avoid the handover to cell whose dwell time is short or can be ignored in terms of service continuity and average throughput. This paper proposes the handover scheme that is suitable for vehicle in order to improve the wireless Internet service quality. In the proposed scheme, the handover process continues to be learned before being modeled to Discrete-Time Markov Chain (DTMC). This modeling reduces the handover frequency by preventing the handover to cell that could provide service sufficiently to passenger even when vehicle passed through the cell but there was no need to perform handover. In order to verify the proposed scheme, we observed the average number of handovers, the average RSSI and the average throughput on various moving paths that vehicle moved in the given urban environment. The experiment results confirmed that the proposed scheme was able to provide the improved wireless Internet service to vehicle that moved to some degree of consistency.
Recently high utility pattern (HUP) mining is one of the most important research issuer in data mining since it can consider the different weight Haloes of items. However, existing mining algorithms suffer from the performance degradation because it cannot easily apply Apriori-principle for pattern mining. In this paper, we introduce new high utility pattern mining approach by using a prefix-tree as in FP-Growth algorithm. Our approach stores the weight value of each item into a node and utilizes them for pruning unnecessary patterns. We compare the performance characteristics of three different prefix-tree structures. By thorough experimentation, we also prove that our approach can give performance improvement to a degree.

The paper deals with a fully assumed strain soild element that can be used for modeling of thin sensors and actuators. To solve fully coupled field problems, the eledtric potential is regarded as a nodal degree of freedom in addition to three translations in an eighteen node assumed strain soild element. Therefore, the induced electric potential can be calculated for a prescribed load and the actuation displacement can be computed for an input voltage. Since the assumed strain solid element can alleviate locking. A finite element code is developed based on the formulation and typical numerical examples are solved for code validation. Using the code, we have conducted parametric study for THUNDER actuator. It is found that a particular combination of materials for layer curvature of THUNDER improves the actuation displacement.
Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between F-18 FDG uptake of tumor in PET/CT scan and pathological or immunohistochemial parameters of colorectal cancer. Materials and Methods: 147 colorectal cancer patients who underwent both pre-operative F-18 FDG PET/CT scan and surgery were included. In cases with perceptible FDG uptake in primary tumor, the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) was calculated. The pathologic results such as site, size, depth of invasion (T stage), growth pattern, differentiation of primary tumor, lymph node metastasis and Dukes-Astler & Coller stage and immunohistochemical markers such as expression of EGFR, MLH1, MSH2 and Ki-67 index were reviewed. Results: 146 out of 147 PET/CT scans with colorectal cancer showed perceptible focal FDG uptake. SUVmax showed mild positive linear correlation with size of primary tumor (r=0.277, p=0.001) and Ki-67 index (r=0.226, p=0.019). No significant difference in F-18 FDG uptake was found according to site, depth of invasion (T stage), growth pattern, differentiation of primary tumor, presence of lymph node metastasis, Dukes-Astler & Coller stage and expression of EGFR. Conclusion: The degree of F-18 FDG uptake in colorectal cancer was associated with the size and the degree of Ki-67 index of primary tumor. It could be thought that FDG uptake of primary tumor has a correlation with macroscopic and microscopic tumor growth.
Background : Histological analysis of tuberculosis shows a spectrum of findings, from well formed granulomatous inflammation with few bacilli in patient with normal immune response to M. tuberculosis to poorly formed granulomatous inflammation with many bacilli in patient with defective immune response. To evaluate the degree of immune response to M. tuberculosis, we studied the histologic features, including the presence of acid fast bacilli(AFB) in lymph node of patients with cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis, and compared them with clinical characteristics. Methods : We reviewed the histologic features of 33 cases of cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis and processed the excised nodes for auramine-rhodamine staining to detect AFB. The AFB positivity in tissue was compared with the histologic features(degree of granuloma formation, presence of caseation necrosis, presence of neutrophilic infiltration) and clinical characteristics(lymph node size, duration of symptom, presence of local symptom or radiologic evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis). Results : 1) The mean age at diagnosis was 42.4 years, and male to female ratio was 1:4.5. 2) Histologically, all cases showed well formed granuloma and variable degrees of caseation necrosis, and 39% of the cases showed neutrophilic infiltration in the granulomatous inflammation. 3) AFB were confirmed in 52% of the cases, and they were found extracellularly and at the periphery of caseation necrosis. 4) There was no association between AFB positivity and histological features or clinical characteristics. Conclusion : Cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis showed well formed granulomatous inflammation with caseation necrosis, and there was no association between AFB positivity in the tissue and histological or clinical characteristics.
Purpose: The surgical treatment of gastric cancer that invades adjacent organs is a radical gastrectomy with combined resection including the adjacent organs or a palliative operation by performing either a gastrojejunostomy or gastrectomy. However, since it is impossible to determine the exact stage of the cancer, either T or N, in the case of palliative surgery, it is inappropriate to predict patient prognosis. This study analyzes the prognoses for patients whose final TNM stages are determined by a combined resection performed due to macroscopical infiltration into the adjacent organs. Materials and Methods: Of 2,452 patients that underwent surgery for gastric cancer at our hospital from 1983 to 2002, we evaluated 102 patients where a combined resection was performed because direct infiltration into the adjacent organs was discovered. Results: Univariate analysis showed that the survival rate differed by the depth of invasion into the gastric walls, the degree of lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, pathological TNM stage, surgical curability, the location of tumor, and histological differentiation. By multivariate analysis, it was found that the surgical curability, the location of the tumor and the degree of lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors. Conclusion: It is suggested that even when infiltration into adjacent organs is suspected, radical surgery should be performed as to allow a prediction of prognosis through an exact determination of disease stage, and to improve the survival rate.
