  • In this paper, we propose a window warping method to solve stereo matching problems in projective distortion region. Because the projective distortion region cant t be estimated with fixed-size block matching algorithm, we use the window warping technique in block matching process. The position of a reference window to resample is obtained adaptively according to the degree of reliability in disparity estimated previously. The initial disparity and reliability are obtained by applying a well known hierarchical strategy. The experimental result shows that considerable improvement is obtained in the projective distortion region.

  • Speech synthesis can classify by synthesis way, that is waveform coding, source coding and mixture coding. Specially, waveform coding is suitable for high quality synthesis. However, it is not desirable by synthesis techniques of syllable or phoneme unit because it do not separate and handles excitation and formant part. Therefore, there is a need for pitch alteration method applied in synthesis by the rule in waveform coding. This study propose about pitch alteration method that use spectrum scaling after do to flatten spectra by subband linear approximation to minimize spectrum distortion. This paper show evaluation whether show excellency of some measure compared with LPC, Cepstrum, lifter function and method that propose. estimation method seeks distribution of each flattened signal and measured degree of flattened spectra Signal flattened is normalized, So that highest point amounts to zero, and distribution of signal ,whose average is zero, is calculated. this show result that measure the spectrum distortion rate to estimate performance of method that propose. The average spectrum distortion rate was kept below the average 2.12%, so the method that propose is superiors than existent method.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new shaft distortion correction system having an adaptive PID controller using displacement sensors, which is adaptively reflecting variations of shaft strength owing to irregular heat treatment during an annealing process and sensitivity to the seasonal temperature changes. Generally, the shafts are annealed by heat treatment in order to enlarge the strength of the shaft, which causes an distortion of a shaft such as irregular bending of the shaft. In order to correct such a distortion of the shaft, a mechanical pressure is properly impacted to the distorted shaft. However, the strength of every shaft is different from each other owing to irregular annealing and seasonal temperature changes. Especially, the strength of a thin shaft such as a car transmission shaft is much more sensitive than that of a thick shaft. Therefore, it is very important for considering the strength of each shaft during correction of the car transmission shaft distortion in order to generate proper mechanical pressure. The conventional PID controller for the shaft distortion correction system does not consider each different strength of each shaft, which causes low productivity. Therefore, we proposed a new PID controller considering variations of shaft strength caused by seasonal temperature changes as well as irregular heat treatment and different cooling time. Three displacement sensors are used to measure a degree of distortion of the shaft at three different location. The proposed PID controller generates adaptively different coefficients according to different strength of each shaft using appropriately obtained pressure times from long-term experiments. Consequently, the proposed shaft distortion correction system increases the productivity about 30 % more than the conventional correction system in the real factory.

  • Panoramic radiography is convenient in clinic and visualizes those areas which other technique do not give. But the technique has limitation of image distortion which results from the relationship of the ramus to the focal trough and from the direction of the central ray. This study is, using 7 dry skulls, to determine the effect of rotation of patient's head on reducing those distortion and determine the magnification ratio of images of mandibular condyle in rotated patient head position. The obtained results were as follows: 1. Generally, in panoramic radiography the anterolateral portion of the mandibular condyle was best to be visualized. 2. There are no significant difference between the image readability of anteromedial portion and that of anterocentral portion of the mandibular condyle. 3. Anterolateral portion of the mandibular condyle was better visualized in rotated head position by 20 degree or horizontal condylar inclination than in conventional position or in rotated head position by 10 degree. 4. The magnification ratio of the anteroposterior diameter in the image of mandibular condyle was least in the rotated head position by horizontal inclination of the mandibular condyle and was largest by 20 degree.

  • In this paper, we investigated the degree of compensation for distorted optical pulse of wavelength division multiplexed(WDM) channel with initial frequency chirp generated in optical transmitter. The WDM channel signal distortion is due to chromatic dispersion, self phase modulation(SPM) and cross phase modulation(XPM) in fiber. The considered system is 3 ${\times}$ 40 Gbps intensity modulation direct detection(IM/DD) WDM transmission systems, which adopted mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as compensation method. We confirmed that the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation for signal distortion due to a SPM is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually small. But, in the aspect of a compensation for signal distortion due to both SPM and XPM, the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually large.

  • The oil immersion method can be used to create objective lenses with long working distances without sacrificing the focusing resolution for laser processing. In this study, a space in which air or oil can be filled was formed in the middle of a lens for analyzing the optical properties of a liquid-oil immersion lens. As the refractive media, air and oils of different refractive index values (1.2 and 1.5, respectively) were used. A simulation was conducted in the ZEMAX software environment using the ray-tracing technique, and the performance of the oil immersion lens was verified by determining its image distortion and focal length (FL) in each medium. In the case of air, the calculated FL was 0.813 mm, whereas the imaged FLs were 1.594 mm and 8.126 mm when the refraction indices were 1.2 and 1.5, respectively. The FL of an oil immersion lens could be increased considerably. In terms of image distortion, the oil immersion lens exhibited little distortion at the center in all cases, but different degrees of image distortion were observed at different points away from the center depending on the refraction index degree.

  • Forged and flat-bar rolled STD11 tool steel shows anisotropic dimensional change during heat treatment. The dimensional change in the rolling direction is larger than that in the transverse direction. The cause of the anisotropic dimensional change is that the steel is anisotropic in composition, microstructure and other properties. The decrease of anisotropic distortion in tool steel is important for making better precision cold working dies. In this study, the effect of ingot weight and hot rolling reduction ratio on the anisotropic dimensional change of STD11 during heat treatment has been studied. Dimensional change was evaluated by simulating a real heat treatment process, including gas quenching and tempering. Experimental results showed that all the rolled flat-bar products had anisotropic distortion to some degree, but the anisotropic distortion was reduced as hot rolling ratio increased. Ingot weight had a little effect on anisotropic distortion. Microstructural observation showed that the anisotropic dimensional change of STD11 tool steel was closely related to the amount, shape and distribution of coarse carbides.
