다중선형회귀법을 활용한 예민화와 환경변수에 따른 AL-6XN강의 공식특성 예측 (Prediction of Pitting Corrosion Characteristics of AL-6XN Steel with Sensitization and Environmental Variables Using Multiple Linear Regression Method)

  • This study aimed to predict the pitting corrosion characteristics of AL-6XN super-austenitic steel using multiple linear regression. The variables used in the model are degree of sensitization, temperature, and pH. Experiments were designed and cyclic polarization curve tests were conducted accordingly. The data obtained from the cyclic polarization curve tests were used as training data for the multiple linear regression model. The significance of each factor in the response (critical pitting potential, repassivation potential) was analyzed. The multiple linear regression model was validated using experimental conditions that were not included in the training data. As a result, the degree of sensitization showed a greater effect than the other variables. Multiple linear regression showed poor performance for prediction of repassivation potential. On the other hand, the model showed a considerable degree of predictive performance for critical pitting potential. The coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.7745. The possibility for pitting potential prediction was confirmed using multiple linear regression.

  • In this study, some considerations have been suggested in developing on-site techniques to evaluate the sensitization of stainless steels. Electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (EPR) technique is known to be a candidate tool for field applications since it enables quantitative assessment in reasonable test time, compared to oxalic etching (ditch) technique. The on-site application of the test method imposes additional restrictions on the selection of the test method (for example, minimum surface preparation requirement, insensitivity to testing temperature, etc.). The EPR and etching techniques have been compared in order to sensitization of stainless steel structures. It has been widely reported that the maximum sensitivity in the welded structure of stainless steel is shown at heat-affected zone (HAZ) than weldments with cast structure. In this work, sectioned weldments and external surfaces were investigated to reveal the degree of sensitization by the etching and the results were compared with those of EPR test. The EPR test showed little sensitivity to surface roughness and test temperature.

  • Austenitic stainless steel has been widely used because of its good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, intergranular corrosion can occur if the alloy is welded or aged. The objective of this study was to determine intergranular corrosion behaviors of austenitic medium carbon (0.05 wt%) and low carbon (0.02 wt%) stainless steel aged at several conditions. Alloys were evaluated according to ASTM A262 Practice A, ISO 12732 DL-EPR (double loop-electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation) test, and ASTM A262 Practice C. The degree of sensitization and intergranular corrosion rate were obtained. The relationship between the degree of sensitization and the intergranular corrosion rate showed a very large fluctuation. Such behavior might be related to whether two-dimension tests or three-dimension tests were performed. On the other hand, regardless of carbon content of alloys, when the intergranular corrosion rate increased, the degree of sensitization also increased. However, the DL-EPR test showed a higher sensitivity than the Huey test for differentiating the intergranular corrosion property at a low intergranular corrosion rate, while the Huey test had a higher sensitivity than the DL-EPR test for distinguishing the intergranular corrosion property at a high intergranular corrosion rate.

316 스테인리스강의 입계부식에 미치는 열사이클과 응력의 영향 (Effect of Thermal Cycle and Stress on the Intergranular Corrosion in 316 Stainless Steel)

  • The effects of thermal cycle condition and applied stress on the intergranular corrosion in austenitic 316 type stainless steels were investigated. Specimens were solution-treated at 1100$^{\circ}C$ for one hour and then sensitized in the temperature range of $500{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ by holding $2{\sim}300s$ with a various applied stresses of $0{\sim}8kg/mm^2$. Degree of sensitization. DOS %, was measured through polarization curve by electrochemical DL-EPR test. Microstructural observations were also conducted DOS % increased with an increase of sensitization temperature and/or holding time. Increase of applied stress resulted in increase of DOS % and more corroded surface because of acceleration of intergranular corrosion and fine grain size due to the stress. Cr depleted zone near grain boundary was observed. The amount of depletion was profounded with an increase of sensitization temperature, holding time and applied stress. $M_{23}C_6$ carbides were precipitated discontinuously at grain boundary. However, its amount was relatively small in the thermal cycle condition of 800$^{\circ}C$, 300sec and 4kg/mm$^2$.

폐암환자의 Dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) 접촉성 감작에 대한 고찰 (The Evaluation of Dinitrochlorobenzene Contact Sensitization in Patients with Bronchogenic Carcinoma)

  • Clinical evaluation of contact sensitization to 2, 4-dinitro-chlorobenzene [DNCB] was performed in 2 groups: group A [30 patients with non-malignant disease] and group B [30 patients with bronchogenic carcinoma]. Initial sensitization was elicited out by applying 2, 000 ug of DNCB to skin surface of the both group A and B. Subsequently a relatively weak challenge dose, 200 ug of DNCB, was applied 14 days later, showing the satisfactory results of sensitization with minimizing non-specific irritative inflammatory skin response. Delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions shown by spontaneous flare phenomena appeared at the challenge site, and they were assessed 48 hours later. The reaction were graded from +1 to +4 according to the degree of flare or vesicular reaction. The results were as follows: 1. 28 cases [93%] of group A, however, only 18 cases [67%] of group B exhibited delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction to DNCB contact sensitization [P<0.02]. 2. Of group A, the delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions above +2 of DNCB score were 25 cases [83%], meanwhile 11 cases [37%] in group B [P<0.001]. 3. Undifferentiated carcinomas showed highest incidence of anergy to DNCB contact sensitization in the all histologic types of group B. 4. In group B, 8 [42%] of 19 cases who react to DNCB were resectable, whereas only 2 [18 %] of 11 cases who failed to react to DNCB were resectable for curative cancer surgery. These study suggests that cellular immune reaction of group B was depressed remarkably comparing with that of group A.

  • We have investigated traits of clad metals in hot-rolled clad steel plates, sensitization and mechanical properties of STS 316 steel plate and carbon steel(A516). Clad steel plates were butt-weld by SAW+SMAW, and with the time of heat treatment as the variable, heat treatment was conducted at $625^{\circ}C$, for 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280 minutes. As a way to evaluate it, sectioned weldments and external surfaces were investigated to reveal the degree of sensitization by mechanical property, etching and those of EPR test, results were compared with it. In short, the purpose of this study is suggesting some considerations in developing on-site techniques to evaluate the sensitization of stainless steels.

  • Even though 304 low-carbon (304L) stainless steel was developed to enhance the resistance to intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, it is occasionally subject to degradation in harsh environments. The degree of sensitization (DOS) of 304L stainless steel was studied as a function of sensitization using a double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (DL-EPR) method. Sensitizing heat treatment was performed in an Ar atmosphere at 500℃, 600℃, and 700℃, with heat treatment times varying from 0 to 96 h. DOS was measured by the ratio of the peak current density value of the forward scan to that of the reverse scan. After the EPR experiment, the specimen surface was observed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The DOS of the specimens heat-treated at 600℃ increased with heat treatment times up to 48 h and then decreased due to a self healing effect. The DOS was higher in specimens heat-treated at 600℃ than those at 500℃ or 700℃. Corrosion of the sensitized specimens occurred mainly at the δ-γ phase boundary. The corrosion morphology at the δ-γ phase boundary changed with sensitizing heat-treatment conditions due to differences in chromium activity in γ austenite and δ ferrite.

  • Roentgenographic film has to be handled with greatest care during removal from the packing, loading of the cassettes and loading of the hanger. In the case of prior to or after exposed film is handled with mechanical pressure in darkroom, the most common phenomena are desensitization or sensitization on roentgenographic film. In order to observe these defect occurring on, it, the author studied on change of the densities where the mechanical pressure reached to the roentgenographic film. 1. The optimal minimum and maximum densities in routine chest x-ray film are from 0.25 to 1.47 2. The dependence of the desensitization occurring on film upon the bent degree of film is in the portion to bent degree over $10^{\circ}$ 3. Appearances of the desensitization on film by the curved degree of film is inverse proportion to it's degree below intervals of 3cm. 4. The more unexposed film is bent with nail tip and is pressured with palm, the more desensitization it was appeared upon film size and pressure weight. 5. The most serious area of desensitization produced by many types of mechanical pressure is in the portion of lung apex and outside lung fields. 6. The tendency of desensitization due to mechanical pressure on unexposed film is more serious than sensitization on exposed film in the view of radiologic diagnosis.

STS304 열화재의 부식및 부 식피로특성 (Corrosion and Corrosion Fatigue Characteristics of Artificially Sensitized STS 304)

  • Stainless steel is useful material for various industrial facilities such as the nuclear and steam power plant and the heavy chemical industry due to its good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, it has also a large problem that is sensitized in the welding process and its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties decreases by sensitization. Thus, corrosion and corrosion fatigue characteristics of artificially sensitized austenitic STS304 were investigated through the EPR test and corrosion fatigue test. Obtained results are as follows: 1) According to the sensitizing period increase, Cr deficiency layer is linearly expanded. 2) Degree of sensitization(Ia/Ir) proportionally increased with sensitizing period. However, after 4hrs, it showed constant value. 3) Cr-carbide($Cr_{23}C_6$) in the grain boundary increased as sensitizing period increases until six hours. 4) corrosion fatigue strength of sensitized STS304 were remarkably reduced compare to non-sensitized ones.

440A 강의 입계부식에 미치는 합금원소와 열처리의 영향(II) (The Effect of Alloying Elements and Heat Treatment on the Intergranular Corrosion of 440A Martensitic Stainless Steel(II))

  • 440A martensitic stainless steels which were modified with reduced carbon content(~0.5wt.%) and addition of small amount of vanadium, tungsten and molybdenum 0.4wt.%, 0.4wt.% and 0.68wt.% respectively were manufactured. Effects of alloying elements and tempering temperatures on the intergranular corrosion were investigated through the method of DL-EPR(Double-electrochemical potentiodynamic reactivation). It was thought that the highest DOS(Degree of sensitization) of specimens was obtained at the tempering temperature of $450^{\circ}C$ regardless of types of alloy because of the precipitation of Cr7C3. Addition of vanadium lowered DOS a little above the tempering temperature of $550^{\circ}C$. It was considered to be effected by precipitation of VC carbides. Intergranular corrosion was influenced more by tempering temperature than by alloying elements of V, W and Mo.
