  • Mobile communication technology after 5th generation requires high speed, hyper-connection, and low latency communication. In order to meet technical requirements for secure hyper-connectivity, low-spec IoT devices that are considered the end of IoT services must also be able to provide the same level of security as high-spec servers. For the purpose of performing these security functions, it is required for cryptographic keys to have the necessary degree of stability in cryptographic algorithms. Cryptographic keys are usually generated from cryptographic random number generators. At this time, good noise sources are needed to generate random numbers, and hardware random number generators such as TRNG are used because it is difficult for the low-spec device environment to obtain sufficient noise sources. In this paper we used the chip which is based on quantum characteristics where the decay of radioactive isotopes is unpredictable, and we presented a variety of methods (TRNG) obtaining an entropy source in the form of binary-bit series. In addition, we conducted the NIST SP 800-90B test for the entropy of output values generated by each TRNG to compare the amount of entropy with each method.

  • The NISS (Near-infrared Imaging Spectrometer for Star formation history) is the near-infrared spectro-photometric instrument optimized to the Next Generation of small satellite series (NEXTSat). To achieve the major scientific objectives for the study of the cosmic star formation in local and distant universe, the spectro-photometric survey covering more than 100 square degree will be performed. The main observational targets will be nearby galaxies, galaxy clusters, star-forming regions and low background regions. The off-axis optics was developed to cover a wide field of view ($2deg.{\times}2deg.$) as well as the wide wavelength range from 0.95 to $2.5{\mu}m$, which were revised based upon the recent test and evaluation of the NISS instrument. The mechanical structure were tested under the launching condition as well as the space environment. The signal processing from infrared sensor and the communication with the satellite were evaluated after the integration into the satellite. The flight model of the NSS was assembled and integrated into the satellite. To verify operations of the satellite in space, the space environment tests such as the vibration, shock and thermal-vacuum test were performed. The accurate calibration data were obtained in our test facilities. Here, we report the test results of the flight model of the NISS.

Promotion Strategies for Daegu-Kyungbuk Mobile Cluster: Searching for Alternative Regional Innovation Governance (대구.경북 모바일 클러스터 육성전략: 지역혁신 거버넌스의 대안 모색)

  • This research aims to examine Korean regional innovation governance, find structural problems, and explore alternative strategies of regional innovation governance. Especially the alternative governance was searched through the case study of Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster, of which formulation Samsung is the anchor institution. Regional innovation governance in this research is defined as a policy system to link knowledge generation & diffusion subsystem and knowledge application & exploitation subsystem, and institutional conditions to steer the system. "Social Capital Assessment Tool (SOCAT)" of the World Bank was utilized for the appreciation of cluster governance. The regional innovation governance of Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster is characterized as production networks dominated by one-to-one relationship between Samsung and hardware/software developers, decentralized R&D networks and policy networks with multiple hubs. Major policy agents have not developed networks with local companies, and rare are interactions between the policy agents. Local companies, especially software developers, responded they have had experiences to cooperate for local problem solving and shared their community goal, however, the degree of trust in major local project leaders is not high. Local hardware/software developers with core technologies need to be cooperative to develop similar technologies or products in Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster. Regional administrative actors, such as the City of Daegu and Kyungsangbuk-do, and diverse innovation-related institutes should build cooperative environment where diverse project-based cooperation units are incessantly created, taken apart, and recreated.

  • This paper introduces a high-speed Reed-Solomon(RS) decoder, which reduces the hardware complexity, and presents an RS decoder based FEC architecture which is used for 40Gb/s optical communication systems. We introduce new pipelined degree computationless modified Euclidean(pDCME) algorithm architecture, which has high throughput and low hardware complexity. The proposed 16 channel RS FEC architecture has two 8 channel RS FEC architectures, which has 8 syndrome computation block and shared single KES block. It can reduce the hardware complexity about 30% compared to the conventional 16 channel 3-parallel FEC architecture, which is 4 syndrome computation block and shared single KES block. The proposed RS FEC architecture has been designed and implemented with the $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology in a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The result show that total number of gate is 250K and it has a data processing rate of 5.1Gb/s at a clock frequency of 400MHz. The proposed area-efficient architecture can be readily applied to the next generation FEC devices for high-speed optical communications as well as wireless communications.

A Comparison on the Positioning Accuracy from Different Filtering Strategies in IMU/Ranging System (IMU/Range 시스템의 필터링기법별 위치정확도 비교 연구)

  • The precision of sensors' position is particularly important in the application of road extraction or digital map generation. In general, the various ranging solution systems such as GPS, Total Station, and Laser Ranger have been employed for the position of the sensor. Basically, the ranging solution system has problems that the signal may be blocked or degraded by various environmental circumstances and has low temporal resolution. To overcome those limitations a IMU/range integrated system could be introduced. In this paper, after pointing out the limitation of extended Kalman filter which has been used for workhorse in navigation and geodetic community, the two sampling based nonlinear filters which are sigma point Kalman filter using nonlinear transformation and carefully chosen sigma points and particle filter using the non-gaussian assumption are implemented and compared with extended Kalman filter in a simulation test. For the ranging solution system, the GPS and Total station was selected and the three levels of IMUs(IMU400C, HG1700, LN100) are chosen for the simulation. For all ranging solution system and IMUs the sampling based nonlinear filter yield improved position result and it is more noticeable that the superiority of nonlinear filter in low temporal resolution such as 5 sec. Therefore, it is recommended to apply non-linear filter to determine the sensor's position with low degree position sensors.

Utilization of similarity measures by PIM with AMP as association rule thresholds (모든 주변 비율을 고려한 확률적 흥미도 측도 기반 유사성 측도의 연관성 평가 기준 활용 방안)

  • Association rule of data mining techniques is the method to quantify the relationship between a set of items in a huge database, andhas been applied in various fields like internet shopping mall, healthcare, insurance, and education. There are three primary interestingness measures for association rule, support and confidence and lift. Confidence is the most important measure of these measures, and we generate some association rules using confidence. But it is an asymmetric measure and has only positive value. So we can face with difficult problems in generation of association rules. In this paper we apply the similarity measures by probabilistic interestingness measure (PIM) with all marginal proportions (AMP) to solve this problem. The comparative studies with support, confidences, lift, chi-square statistics, and some similarity measures by PIM with AMPare shown by numerical example. As the result, we knew that the similarity measures by PIM with AMP could be seen the degree of association same as confidence. And we could confirm the direction of association because they had the sign of their values, and select the best similarity measure by PIM with AMP.

  • Case-based reasoning is an efficient method to find solutions for new problems by using past cases after appropriate changes. It is widely used in everyday life because it resembles the way human acts. In this paper, we propose a military system that generates the most appropriate tactics for CGF (Computer Generated Forces) by utilizing past practices. It indeed applies case-based reasoning at the process of armed conflict. When the CGF squad on a mission, they will be given an action plan to reach the final goal. In the process of executing, tactics for specific action should be organized such as attacks, ambushes, and tactical moves. By using the proposed method, tactics were generated by case-based reasoning. The proposed system successfully receives input through each command and control agent, measures the degree of similarity with the case in case DB, selects the most similar case, modifies, uses, and then stores it for next time.

  • Web-mail system is worthy of note as a next generation e-mail system for its mobility and easiness. But many web-mail system does not have any kind of security mechanism. Even if web-mail system provides security services, its degree of strength is too low. Using these web-mail systems, the e-mail is tabbed, modified or forged by attacker easily. To solve these problems, we design and implement secure web-mail system based on the international e-mail security standard S/MIME in this thesis. This secure web-mail system is composed of server system and client system The server system performs basic mail functions - sending/receiving the mails, storing the mails, and management of user information, etc. And the client system performs cryptographic functions - encryption/decryption of the mails, digital signing and validation, etc. Because client system performs cryptographic functions this secure web-mail system gives its reliability and safety, and provides end-to-end security between mail users. Also, this secure web-mail system increase system efficiency by minimize server load.

Studies on Rice Varietal Resistance to Rice Stem Maggot, Chlorops oryzae Matsumura (벼줄기굴파리에 대한 수도(水稻)의 품종저항성(品種抵抗性))

  • To establish a method for measuring varietal resistance against rice stem maggot in field and pot, 20 varieties were used in $1981{\sim}1983$. The degree of injured stems by the 1st generation larvae was significantly correlated with that of injured panicles by the 2nd ($r=0.864^{**}$). There was no ovipositional preference in rice stem maggot. The larval mortality after artificial infestation varied widly from 5.6 to 100% in varieties and that of the resistant varieties was high after boring. There was a negative correlation between number of injured leaves and larval mortality after artificial infestation ($'81:r=-0.833^{**},\;'82:r=-0.918^{**}$). It is considered that larval mortality mainly caused by antibiosis and larval mortality 20 days after infestation on rice seedlings is ideal for evaluating the varietal resistance to rice stem maggot. Resistant varieties are Nagdongbyeo, Jinjubyeo and Chucheongbyeo susceptible varieties, Keumgangbyeo, Milyang 23, Baigyangbyeo and Milyang 30.
