  • In the previous study, temperature monitoring of case about shrinkage fit process was performed and heat transfer model was developed in detail by feedback and tuning among monitoring result, process investigation, and analysis result. The gap element in contact between case and core was effectively used in analysis model. In present study, following things are performed to solve deformation of case due to shrinkage fit process on the basis of previous result. Above all, mechanical material properties of case are measured by case specimen for deformation analysis considering weldment of case. Deformation of case before and after shrinkage fit process is measured, too. Three dimensional deformation model is developed by the comparison and inspection between these experimental data and analysis results. Deformation analysis is simulated with the result of heat transfer analysis, in other words, non-coupled analysis is used. Finally the countermeasure for deformation is brought up through those.

  • Connectors are very important components that transmit electric signals to different parts. It must maintain intensity of the connector to prevent defects from impact and maintain contact to transmit electric signals. Most of the external parts of the connector, which act as the main framework, are formed by injection molding. However, bend deformation occurs for injection molded products due to the residual stress left inside the product after product molding. When the bend deformation is large, it does not come into complete contact when being assembled with other parts, which leads to connector contact intensity not being properly maintained. In result, the main role of the connector, which is to transmit electric signals, cannot be performed. In order to address this problem, this study conducted bend deformation cause analysis through bend deformation analysis to predict and prevent bend deformation of housings and wafers, which are injection molded products of pressure welded connectors that are normally applied in compact mobile and display products. Bend deformation analysis was carried out by checking the charging time, pressure distribution and temperature distribution through wire to board connector wafer and housing injection molding analysis. Based on the results of the bend deformation analysis results, the cause of the bend deformation was analyzed through deformation resulting from disproportional cooling, deformation resulting from disproportional contraction, and deformation resulting from ingredient orientation. In result, it was judged that the effects for bend deformation were biggest due to disproportional contraction for both the pressure welded connector wafer and housing.

  • Arc-spot welding is generally used in joining of precise parts such as case and core in electric compressor. It is important to control joining deformation in electric compressor because clearance control of micrometer order is needed for excellent airtightness and anti-nose. The countermeasures for this deformation in field have mainly been dependent on rule of try and error by operator's experience because of productivities. For control this deformation problem without influence on productivities, development of exact simulation model should be needed. In this study, on the basis of previous study, the analysis model io predict deformation of precise order in arc-spot welded structure with non-uniform stiffness is brought up through feedback and tuning between monitoring data and analysis results. For this, deformation monitoring system was built and boundary condition considering mechanical melting temperature was applied.

  • In the previous study, the countermeasure for welding deformation of bracket tilt is through up through experimental inspection for total process including welding process. For completeness of systematic examination of parts having sensitivity on welding deformation, the comparison and feedback between the result through simulation of welding process and experimental data is needed. In other words, it is necessary to control welding deformation that construct the prediction system for welding deformation through comparison and tuning with experimental data. In the present study, the application of FEA on welding process of bracket tilt with susceptibility to deformation is made and deformation behavior through change of welding sequence is focused on. It is used to improve the exactness of deformation analysis that three dimensional analysis for moving heat source, activated and deactivated bead element, and volume heat flux etc.

  • In this study, we conducted a study on the optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize deformation of plastic product. The charging management system housing of the vehicle was selected as the research subject. Melting temperature, cooling temperature, packing time, and packing pressure were selected as the main factors expected to affect the deformation of molded products. Each main factor was divided into 5 levels. Optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize deformation was performed using the Taguchi Method. We performed an analysis of variance (ANOVA) to identify significant factors affecting the deformation of plastic product. In order to select injection molding conditions that minimize deformation of plastic products, injection molding analysis was additionally performed for insignificant factors. We then compared the deformation of the molded part before and after optimization. As a result of comparing the injection analysis results of the basic conditions and the injection analysis results of the optimal conditions, it was confirmed that the amount of deformation after optimization was improved by about 10.9%.

  • Thermal deformation of cast iron exhaust manifold for turbo diesel engine is investigated by finite element analysis (FEA). The FE model included the temperature dependent material properties as well as the interactions between exhaust manifold, cylinder head and fasteners. It also considers the sliding behavior of the flanges of exhaust manifold on cylinder head when either expansion or contraction of the exhaust manifold exceeds the fastener pretension. The result of analysis revealed that remarkable thermal deformation along the longitudinal direction. Compressive plastic deformation at high temperature remained tensile stress in manifold and resulted in longitudinal contraction at ambient temperature. The amount of contraction at each fastener position was predicted and compared with experimental results. Analysis results revealed that the model predicted deformation qualitatively, but more elaborated cyclic hardening behavior would be necessary to predict the deformation quantitatively.

  • Bearings are mechanical components that support loads and transmit rotation. The inner and outer rings come into contact with the rotating mechanism, requiring a very high level of hardness. To meet this requirement, heat treatment is commonly performed. The heat treatment process inherently involves thermal deformation. Particularly in the case of large bearings, significant deformation relative to the bearing's shape can occur, making accurate deformation prediction during heat treatment essential. However, predicting deformation in heat treatment is challenging due to the simultaneous consideration of phase transformation, heat transfer, and bearing deformation. In this study, an analysis of heat treatment-induced deformation in bearings was conducted, taking phase transformation into account. The thermal and mechanical properties were calculated based on the chemical composition of the bearing material. This information was then used to perform a deformation-heat transfer-phase transformation analysis. To validate the reliability of the analysis, experiments were conducted under the same conditions. When comparing the analysis and experimental results, differences in deformation were observed. These differences were attributed to variations in phase transformation conditions between the analysis and experiments. Consequently, it is anticipated that supplementing these results will enable the prediction of deformation while considering phase transformation conditions in bearings.

  • Residual stresses and thermal deformation of a structure due to welding are very imfortant factors for a weld design. It has been carried therretical analysis to invesitigate influence of heat flux to residual stresses and thermal deformation producted by curcumferential welding. Temperature, stresses and deformationn are obtain as a function of circumferentisl drgree and distance from welding center line. These result can applicate to predict and remove the deformation or residual stresses built up by welding.

  • As shear localization is observed in different deformation modes, an attempt is made to understand the conditions for shear localization in general deformation modes. Most emphasis in put upon the effects of pre-localization deformation mode on the onset of shear localization and all the other well-recognized effects of subtle constitutive features and imperfection sensitivity studied elsewhere are not investigated here. Rather, an approximate perturbation stability analysis is performed for simplified isotropic rigid-plastic solids subjected to general mode of homogeneous deformation. Shear localization is possible in any deformation mode if the material has strain softening. The incipient rate of shear localization and shear plane orientations are strongly dependent upon the pre-localization deformation mode. Significant strain softening is necessary for shear localization in homogeneous axisymmetric deformation modes while infinitesimal strain softening is necessary for shear localization in plane strain deformation mode. In any deformation mode, there are more than one shear plane orientation. Except for homogeneous axisymmetric deformation modes, there are two possible shear plane orientations with respect to the principal directions of stretching. Some well-known examples are discussed in the light of the current analysis.

  • In th is paper, to predicting the large deformation and cyclic plastic behavior of steel members under loading, 3-Dimensional elastic-plastic FE analysis method is developed by using finite deformation theory and proposed cyclic plasticity model. finite deformation theory, described the large deformation, is formulated by using Updated-lagrangian formulation and Green's strain tensor, Jaumann's derivative of Kirchoff stress. Also, cyclic plasticity model proposed by author is applied to developed analysis method. To verification of developed analysis method, analysis result of steel plate specimen compare to the analysis result using infinitesimal deformation theory and test result. Also, load-displacement and deflection shape, analysis result of pipe-section steel column, compare to test result. The good agreement between analysis result and experiment result shown that developed 3-dimensional finite element analysis can be predict the large deformation and cyclic plastic behavior of steel members.
