This paper presents a new method to obtain parameters of end-mill cutting system. For high speed milling and precision surface finish, we have to predict the deflection of tool and the critical depth of cut. The cutting system can be modeled to a vibratory system to obtain the deflection of tooll and the critical depth of cut. A new method of the modeling of one degree of freedom system was developed using bisection method, ARMA(Autoregressive Moving average) and impact test.
The article presents a theoretical-experimental approach developed for modeling the coefficient of sliding friction in the dynamic system tool-workpiece in slide diamond burnishing of low-alloy unhardened steels. The experimental setup, implemented on conventional lathe, includes a specially designed device, with a straight cantilever beam as body. The beam is simultaneously loaded by bending (from transverse slide friction force) and compression (from longitudinal burnishing force), which is a reason for geometrical nonlinearity. A method, based on the idea of separation of the variables (time and metric) before establishing the differential equation of motion, has been applied for dynamic modeling of the beam elastic curve. Between the longitudinal (burnishing force) and transverse (slide friction force) forces exists a correlation defined by Coulomb's law of sliding friction. On this basis, an analytical relationship between the beam deflection and the sought friction coefficient has been obtained. In order to measure the deflection of the beam, strain gauges connected in a "full bridge" type of circuit are used. A flexible adhesive is selected, which provides an opportunity for dynamic measurements through the constructed measuring system. The signal is proportional to the beam deflection and is fed to the analog input of USB DAQ board, from where the signal enters in a purposely created virtual instrument which is developed by means of Labview. The basic characteristic of the virtual instrument is the ability to record and visualize in a real time the measured deflection. The signal sampling frequency is chosen in accordance with Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem. In order to obtain a regression model of the friction coefficient with the participation of the diamond burnishing process parameters, an experimental design with 55 experimental points is synthesized. A regression analysis and analysis of variance have been carried out. The influence of the factors on the friction coefficient is established using sections of the hyper-surface of the friction coefficient model with the hyper-planes.

This paper presents the study on the magnetic field analysis of magnetid deflection yoke using integral equation method. An integral equation method is developed for the computer modeling of the magnetic fields produced by color CRT and T.V. deflection yoke. Deflection of electron beams using magnetic fields is applied in a variety of display instruments such as te.evision receivers, electron probe instruments, etc. The magnetic field is solved by dividing these into the finite elements in the whole domain : the saddle coil which deflects the electron heam horizontally, the toroidal coil which deflects it vertically, magnetic core which enhances the magnetid fields genterated by the both coils. Using oblate spheroidal coordinates, this paper has had an easier access to the shape of magnetic deflection yoke chasing the boundaries than other coordinates.
Rodents, specially rats, can recognize distance and shape of an object and also pattern of the textures by using their whiskers. Mechanoreceptors surrounding the root of whisker in their follicle measure deflection of the whisker. Rats can move their whisker back and forth freely. This ability, called active whisking or active sensing, is one of characteristics of rat behaviours. Many researches based on the mechanism have been progressed. In this paper, we test a simple and accurate method based on deflection of the whisker: we designed biomimetic whiskers modeling after a structure of follicle using the microphone. The microphone sensor measures a mechanical vibration. Attaching an artificial whisker beam to the microphone membrane, we can detect a vibration of whisker and this can show the deflection amount of whisker indirectly.

This paper presents a static study of a rectangular functional graded material (FGM) plate, simply supported on its four edges, adopting a refined higher order theory that looks for, only, four unknowns, without taking into account any corrective factor of the deformation energy with the satisfaction of the zero shear stress conditions on the upper and lower faces of the plate. We will have determined the contribution of these stresses in the transverse deflection of the plate, as well as their effects on the axial stress within the interfaces between the layers(to avoid any problem of imperfections such as delamination) and on the top and bottom edges of the plate in order to take into account the fatigue phenomenon when choosing the distribution law of the properties used during the design of the plate. A numerical statement, in percentage, of the contribution of the shear effect is made in order to show the reliability of the adopted theory. We will also have demonstrated the need to add the shear effect when the aspect ratio is small or large. Code routines are programmed to obtain numerical results illustrating the validity of the model proposed in the theory compared to those available in the literature.
Deflection of the vertical is used in geodetic surveying associated with geoid network construction for geoid modeling and ellipsoid decision and obtained by gravity survey, astronomic survey etc. Technique of astronomic survey and gravity survey is very complex and requires a significant amount of time until gathering data. So this study is to determined a various method which evaluates deflection of the vertical and components about deflection of the vertical using GPS results and orthometric height value decided by leveling. Results of components about deflection of the vertical using GPS/leveling is that ${\xi}$ conponent is distributed $-2.11^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\pm}0.62$, ${\eta}$ component is distributed $1.75^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\pm}0.71$. Decision of component about deflection of the vertical using GPS is less complex than existing astronomic survey. Decision of component about deflection of vertical line using GPS is not complicated than astronomic surveying and can determine in a very short time. So it will be important means to determine the exact orthometric height, topographic study and diastrophism if can periodically calculate.
Since thickness deformation and lateral deflection often occurs during the collision of flexible bodies, they should be considered simultaneously in the impact analysis. The thickness deformation, however, cannot be considered in beam/shell theory since the thickness is assumed to be constant in the theory. So, solid elements are employed to estimate the thickness deformation. However, the CPU time increases significantly if solid elements are employed. In the present study, a modeling method for the impact analysis of a flexible body employing Hertzian contact theory is presented. The efficiency and the accuracy of the modeling method are discussed with some numerical examples.
In this study the finite element method is utilized to predict the deflection and vibration characteristics of rectangular plates made of saturated porous functionally graded materials (PFGM) within the framework of the third order shear deformation plate theory. Material properties of PFGM plate are supposed to vary continuously along the thickness direction according to the power-law form and the porous plate is assumed of the form where pores are saturated with fluid. Various edge conditions of the plate are analyzed. The governing equations of motion are derived through energy method, using calculus of variations while the finite element model is derived based on the constitutive equation of the porous material. According to the numerical results, it is revealed that the proposed modeling and finite element approach can provide accurate deflection and frequency results of the PFGM plates as compared to the previously published results in literature. The detailed mathematical derivations are presented and numerical investigations are performed while the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of the several parameters such as porosity volume fraction, material distribution profile, mode number and boundary conditions on the natural frequencies and deflection of the PFGM plates in detail. It is explicitly shown that the deflection and vibration behaviour of porous FGM plates are significantly influenced by these effects. Numerical results are presented to serve as benchmarks for future analyses of FGM plates with porosity phases.

Geometry based CAD/CAM system is hard to achieve "net shape machining" For a net shape machining, the machining errors should be compensated by off-line CAD/CAM system followed by on-line control system. In this paper, we investigate an off-line compensation scheme for the machining errors due to tool deflection in contouring operation. The significance of the deflection errors is first shown, and a compensation is sought via modifying the nominal tool path. In modification, tool deflection amount is iteratively compensated until the deflection amount is iteratively compensated until the deflected path results in the desired contour within a tolerance. The path modification algorithm has been tested via computer simulation. The developed algorithm can be used as a postprocessor for the current CAD/CAM system based on geometric modeling as a means for enhancing the machining accuracy.
This paper presents an integrated machining error compensation method based on captured images of tool deflection shapes in flat end-milling processes. This approach allows us to avoid modeling machining characteristics (cutting forces, tool deflections and machining errors etc.) and accumulating calculation errors induced by several simulations. For this, a high-speed camera captured images of real deformed tool shapes which were cutting under given machining conditions. Using image processes and a machining error model, it is possible to estimate tool deflection in cutting conditions modeled and to compensate for machining errors using an iterative algorithm correcting tool paths. This corrected tool path can effectively reduce machining errors in the flat end-milling process. Experiments are carried out to validate the approaches proposed in this paper. The proposed error compensation method can be effectively implemented in a real machining situation, producing much smaller errors.
