SOME MODELS FOR PROGRESSIVE TAXATION

  • We define progressive tax rate functions, study their properties, and describe some smooth models. The key requirement, defining the progressive nature of the taxation model, is that the progressive tax rate functions should have infinite contact with the zero function at the origin, in order to care the poor. In constructing a wide array of such functions, assisting functions are introduced.

  • The robot soccer simulation game is a dynamic multi-agent environment. In this paper we suggest a new reinforcement learning approach to each agent´s dynamic positioning in such dynamic environment. Reinforcement learning is the machine learning in which an agent learns from indirect, delayed reward an optimal policy to choose sequences of actions that produce the greatest cumulative reward. Therefore the reinforcement learning is different from supervised learning in the sense that there is no presentation of input-output pairs as training examples.   • This paper treats the modelling and the control of the burnthrough point control system for an industrial sintering process. First, a state-space model is derived by defining new unconventional variables. A simple control law is proposed, which consists of the modified receding horizon control law and the least-squares prediction algorithm. The stability and the tracking properties of this control law are proved. The real-time experiments are carried out in a POSCO sintering plant and satisfactory results are presented in this paper. Before the real-time experiments, computer simulations are done and their results are also given for the comparison with the real-time experiments.

  • Sung [1990] presented an analogue of the classical Cramer-Rao inequality for median-unbiased estimators with continuous multivariate densities depending upon a vector parameter. In the process, diffusivity, a new dispersion measure relevant to median-unbiased estimators, was defined to be a function of median-unbiased estimator's density height. In this paper we shall elaborate these ideas by defining a second kind of diffusivity and discuss the role of model-unbiasedness in median-unbiased estimation in connection with this seconde kind of diffusivity. In addition, median-unbiased estimation will be compared to mean-unbiased estimation.

  • Pattern recognition techniques have been applied for the extraction of some regularities of water samples under a wide variety of locations related to Han-River. For that purpose, an eigenvector analysis has been applied for defining each class so as to use the class as a training set for class analogy model of SIMCA. The models thus obtained have been used for the allocation of test samples between groups.

  • Knowledge management (KM) continues to receive mounting interest within the construction industry due to its potential to offer solutions for organisations seeking competitive advantage. This paper presents a KM input-process-output conceptual model comprising unique and well-defined theoretical constructs representing KM practices and their internal and external determinants in the context of construction. The paper also presents the underlying principles used in operationally defining each construct using extant KM literature, and offers a number of testable hypotheses that capture the inter-relationships between the identified constructs.

  • 본 논문에서는 제어기 기능이 표현 된 변경된 MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow(SL/SF) 모델의 재사용 가능한 테스트 케이스 도출 기법을 제안한다. 자동차의 ECU(Electrical Control Unit)와 같이 복잡한 SL/SF 모델의 테스트 케이스를 작성하는데 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하다. 모델이 수정 될 때마다 새로 만들어낼 테스트 케이스를 줄이기 위한 직관적인 방법은 수정 전 모델에서 생성한 테스트 케이스 중 일부를 재사용하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 모델 행동을 정의하고 테스트 케이스 별 모델 동등성을 판단하여 수정 후 SL/SF에 재사용 가능한 테스트 케이스를 도출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 테스트 케이스 재사용 기법은 상용 자동차 제어기 모델을 이용하여 성능을 평가한다.

  • This paper describes a reinforced concrete crack model, which utilizes a strain decomposition technique. The strain decomposition technique enables the explicit inclusion of physical behavior across the cracked concrete surface such as aggregate interlock and dowel action rather than intuitively defining the shear retention factor. The proposed concrete crack model is integrated into the commercial finite element software ABAQUS shell elements through a user-supplied material subroutine. The FE results have been compared to experimental results reported by other researchers. The proposed bridge FE model is capable of predicting the initial cracking load level, the ultimate load capacity, and the crack pattern with good accuracy.
