  • The role of software process is getting more important to make good quality softwares. One of the measures to improve the software process is Defect Removal Efficiency(DRE). DRE gives a measure of the development team ability to remove defects prior to release. It is calculated as a ratio of defects resolved to total number of defects found. Software Engineering Levels are usually decided by CMMI Model. The model is designed to help organizations improve their software product and service development, acquisition, and maintenance processes. The score of software engineering levels can be calculated by CMMI model. The levels are composed of the three groups(absent, average, and advanced). This study is to find if there is any difference among the three categories in term of the result of software engineering levels on DRE. We propose One way ANOVA to analyze influence of software engineering levels on DRE. Bootstrap method is also used to estimate the sampling distribution of the original sample because the data are not sampled randomly. The method is a statistical method for estimating the sampling distribution of an estimator by sampling with replacement from the original sample. The data were collected in 106 software development projects by the survey. The result of this study tells that there is some difference of DRE among the groups. The higher the software engineering level of a specific company becomes, the better its DRE gets, which means that the companies trying to improve software process can increase their good management performance.

  • Recently, defects that occurred during the construction of apartment houses have become a social issue. Defects in apartment houses lead to waste of resources and economic loss, causing psychological and physical damage to customers, and a decrease in reliability and financial loss to construction companies. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of defect occurrence according to the difference in project management level in the apartment housing construction stage, and to investigate the extent to which the project manager's experience affects the defect occurrence rate. For the empirical analysis of the study, statistical analysis was conducted using data collected from 130 actual projects. The results of the analysis showed that schedule management, cost management, and quality management had a positive effect on reducing the defect occurrence rate in the execution stage of apartment housing construction, while human resource management productivity had a negative effect. This study theoretically demonstrated the importance of project management, and in practice, showed that schedule management, cost management, and quality management should be faithfully performed in the execution stage to reduce the rate of defects after project completion. It was also suggested that hiring an experienced project manager would help reduce project defects.

  • Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is attractive because it produces consistent, complex-geometry components for high-volume, high-strength, and high-performance applications. Also MIM using in optical communication field, display field, and semi-conductor field is a cost-effective alternative to metal machining or investment casting parts. It offers tremendous single-step parts consolidation potential and design flexibility. The objective of this paper is to study the suitability of design, flow analysis, debinding and sinterin processes, and capability analysis. The suitable injection conditions were 0.5~1.5 second filling time, 11.0~12.5 MPa injection pressure derived from flow analysis. The gravity of the product is measured after debinding an sintering. The maximum and minimum gravity levels are 7.5939 and 7.5097. the average and standard deviation are 7.5579 and 0.0122; when converted into density, the figure stands at 98.154%. According to an analysis of overall capacity, PPM total, which refers to defect per million opportunities(DPMO), stands at 166,066.3 Z.Bench-the sum of defect rates exceeding the actual lowest and highest limits-is 0.97, which translates into the good quality rate of around 88.4% and the sigma level of 2.47.

  • Shake and gnarl in the timber market are considered as a defect of reducing the quality of timber. However, this study expects that shake and gnarl are the optimum design tools to improve aesthetics of furniture if their unique form is properly used as formative expression factors of wooden furniture. This study is conducted to suggest methods in order for consumers and designers to consider shake and gnarl as new formative factors and apply them to wooden furniture designs. The study conducts a preference survey of general people by manufacturing furniture that has or doesn't have shake and gnarl, and measures the level of aesthetics after providing furniture design majors with furniture image that reprocesses shake and gnarl in a new way. According to the findings, shake and gnarl have latent aesthetic values, which verifies that various methods can be used to improve aesthetics of wooden furniture by means of a case study. By applying hidden authentic value of the verified shake and gnarl to furniture design, various improvement methods of aesthetics will have to be actively studied.

  • Thirty four patients with a ventricular septal defect, aged 2 months to 24 years [median 2.33 years], had lung biopsies during open heart procedures to assess the degree of pulmonary vascular disease. The patients were divided into two groups according to their age; group 1 - under 2 years of age [15 patients], and group 2- over 2 years of age [19 patients]. The, pathologic change of the pulmonary arterioles was correlated with pre-operative hemodynamic data in 34 patients. There was no significant correlation between the severity of pulmonary vascular disease according to Heath-Edwards classification and the patients age [X2=1.8381, P=0.1751 ]. There was a significant correlation between degree of medial wall thickness and arteriolar diameter and the level of preoperative peak pulmonary artery pressure and peak systemic artery pressure [Pp/Ps]. Also, there was a good correlation between the preoperative pulmonary vascular resistance and systemic vascular resistance [Rp/Rs]. There was no significant correlation between wall thickness and Pp/Ps, and Rp/Rs below the age of 2 years. We conclude that, in patients over 2 years of age, there was a significant correlation between the medial wall thickness of the pulmonary arteriole and elevation of Pp/Ps and Rp/Rs. This is not true in patients under 2 years of age.

  • If any of the set parameters such as the environment temperature, mold temperature are not maintained at a consistent level, the fail rate of injection molding products is increased. The price of the injection molding machine is very high, so in order to maximize the utilization of the machine that is required the production of a number of different products with minimum fail rate using a single machine. To prevent the defect products by an inspection process with perfect quality is very important to minimizing production of defect products in the molding process. Vision inspection systems are widely utilized in various manufacturing industries for quality assurance purposes. The vision inspection system consists of CCD camera and lighting system to capture the image of the subject of inspection, an image comparison algorithm using to determine the pass/fail of the products, and mechanical devices for the operation of the whole system. This research focuses on the development of the vision inspection system to process the inspection of an automobile parts. We developed a mechanical devices for the inspection of the injection molding products and an image comparison algorithm to determine the pass/fail result of the inspection based on the molding image and the accepted product image.

  • We have investigated the sputtering and secondary electron emission characteristics of MgO protective layer according to the $O_2$ partial pressure. The MgO layer have been deposited by electron beam evaporation method and have varied the $O_2$ partial pressure as 0, $5.2{\times}10^{-5}$, $1.0{\times}10^{-4}$, and $4.1{\times}10^{-4}$ Torr. It has been known that the secondary electron emission coefficient and the number of defect energy levels increased as the $O_2$ partial pressure increases. So we have investigated the property of sputtering yield according to the $O_2$ partial pressure. We have known that the sputtering yield deceases as the $O_2$ partial pressure increases by using the FIB system.

  • When testing products before shipment to the customer, quality characteristics are measured to decide whether or not their values are between the specification limits. Unfortunately, this testing procedure can lead to incorrect decisions because of gauge error. That is, good products can erroneously be qualified as bad, and bad products as good, and this has consequences for producer's and consumer's risk. In cases of such as this, the compressed gauge limit can be used to achieve the desired product quality level dictated by the manufacturer or the customer. A compressed gauge limit is a limit set by the manufacturer on a test gauge that is tighter than the specification limit established by the customer. The compressed gauge limits should be set at levels to achieve the defect levels desired by the customer and simultaneously minimize the loss of good product that is rejected due to errors in the gauges. In this article, the models for determining the defect levels and the losses obtained by adding compressed gauge limits will be developed. A response surface model approach is utilized which allows an optimal operating condition to be generated relatively easily.

  • Structural and electronic properties of bulk GaN with nitrogen vacancy($V_N$), oxygen substitution on nitrogen site($O_N$), and complex of nitrogen vacancy and oxygen substitution on nitrogen site($V_N-O_N$) were investigated using the first principle calculations. It was found that stability of defect formation is dependent on the epilayer growth conditions. The complex of $V_N-O_N$ is energetically the most favorable state in a condition of Ga-rich, however, oxygen substitution in nitrogen site is the most favorable state in N-rich condition. The electronic property of complex with negative charge states at $\Gamma$ point was changed from semiconductor to metal. On the contrary, the properties of nitrogen vacancy except for neutral charge state have shown the semiconductor characteristics at $\Gamma$ point. In the oxygen substitution on nitrogen site, the energy differences between conduction band minimum and Fermi level were smaller than that of defect-free GaN.

  • A high-resolution transmission electron microscopy study on the lattice defects formed in the high energy P ion implanted silicon was carried out on an atomic level. Results show that Lomer dislocations, 60$^{\circ}$perfect dislocations, 60$^{\circ}$ dislocation dipole and extrinsic stacking fault formed in the near Rp of as-implanted specimen. In the annelaed specimens, interstitial Frank loops, 60$^{\circ}$perfect disolations, 60$^{\circ}$dislocation dipoles, stacking faults, precipitates, perfect dislocation loops and <112> rodlike defects existed exclusively near in the Rp with various annealing temperature and time. From these results, it is concluded that extended secondary defects as well as the point defect clusters could be formed without annealing. Even at low temperature annealing such as 55$0^{\circ}C$, small interstitial Frank loops could be formed and precipitates were also formed by $700^{\circ}C$ annealing. The defect band annealed at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr could be divided into two regions depending on the distribution of the secondary defects.
