$Si_{1-y}Ge_y$ 위에 성장시킨 $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ 에서 성장방향과 응력변형 조건에 따른 정공의 이동도 연구 (Dependence of Hole Mobilities on the Growth Direction and Strain Condition in $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ Layers Grown on $Si_{1-y}Ge_y$ Substrate)

  • The band structures of $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ layers grown on $Si_{1-y}Ge_y$ substrate are calculated using k$\cdot$p and strain Hamiltonians. The hole drift mobilities in the plane direction are then calculated by taking into account the screening effect and the density-of-states of the impurity band. When $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ is grown on Si substrate, the mobilities of (110) and (111) $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ layers are larger than that of (001) $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$. However, due to the large defect and surface scattering, (110) and (111) $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ layers may not be useful for the development of the fast device. Meanwhile, when Si is grown on $Si_{1-y}Ge_y$ substrate, the mobilities of (001) and (110) Si layers are greatly enhanced. Based on the amount of defect and the surface scattering, it is expected that Si grown on (001) $Si_{1-y}Ge_y$ substrate, where the Ge contents is larger than 10%(y>0.1), has the highest mobility.

3D 유한요소법을 이용한 원전 매설배관 부식결함 탐상기술 개발 (Technology for the Detection of Corrosion Defects in Buried Pipes of Nuclear Power Plants with 3D FEM)

  • The modeling of 3D finite elements based on CAD data has been used to detect sites of corrosion defects in buried pipes. The results generated sophisticated profiles of electrolytic potential and vectors of current distributions on the earth surface. To identify the location of defects in buried pipes, the current distribution on the earth surface was projected to a plane of incidence that was identical to the pipe locations. The locations of minimum electrolytic potential value were found. The results show adequate match between the locations of real and expected defects based on modeling. In addition, the defect size can be calculated by integrating the current density curve. The results show that the defect sizes were $0.74m^2$ and $0.69m^2$, respectively. This technology may represent a breakthrough in the detection of indirect damage in various cases involving multiple defects in size and shape, complex/cross pipe systems, multiple anodes and stray current.

PEMFC 금속분리판의 내식성에 미치는 DLC 코팅층의 두께 및 결함의 영향 (Effects of Thickness and Defects of DLC Coating Layer on Corrosion Resistance of Metallic Bipolar Plates of PEMFCs)

  • DLC coatings have been widely applied in industrial fields that require high corrosion resistance due to their excellent mechanical characteristics and chemical stability. In this research, effects of DLC coating thickness and defects on corrosion resistance were investigated for application of metallic bipolar plates in polymer membrane electrolyte fuel cells (PEMFCs). Results revealed that a DLC coating thickness of 0.7 ㎛ could lead to a defect size reduction of about 75.9% compared to that of 0.3 ㎛.As a result of potentiodynamic polarization experiments, the current density under a potential of 0.6 V was measured to be less than 1 ㎂/cm2,which was an excellent value. Inparticular, the delamination ratio and the decrease rate of maximum pitting depth were up to 84.8% and 63.3%, respectively, with an increase in the DLC coating thickness. These results demonstrate that DLC coating thickness and defects are factors that can affect corrosion resistance of DLC coating and its substrate.

  • 비아 필링에 있어서 void나 seam 생성이 없이 비아를 채우는 것은 매우 중요한 사항으로 전류밀도, 전류모드, 첨가제 등을 변화시켜 결함없는 비아를 얻어왔다. 그러나 다양한 첨가제의 부산물이 오염의 원인이 되며 도금액의 수명을 줄이는 문제점이 있었다. 본 연구에서는 오염을 최소화하기 위하여 다른 첨가제가 없이 JGB만을 사용하여 JGB 농도와 전류밀도 변화에 따른 비아 필링 현상을 연구하였다. 지름이 $15{\mu}m$이며 종횡비 4인 비아가 사용되었으며 펄스전류를 이용하여 도금을 하였다. 전류밀도는 $10{\sim}20mA/cm^2$, JGB 농도는 0~25 ppm까지 변화시키면서 JGB 농도와 전류밀도와 의 상관관계를 mapping 하였다. 그로부터 지름이 $15{\mu}m$이며 종횡비 4인 비아 필링의 최적 조건을 확립하였다.

Chitin-fibroin-hydroxyapatite membrane for guided bone regeneration: micro-computed tomography evaluation in a rat model

  • Background: In guided bone regeneration (GBR) technique, many materials have been used for improving biological effectiveness by adding on membranes. The new membrane which was constructed with chitin-fibroin-hydroxyapatite (CNF/HAP) was compared with a collagen membrane (Bio-$Gide^{(R)}$) by means of micro-computed tomography. Methods: Fifty-four rats were used in this study. A critical-sized (8 mm) bony defect was created in the calvaria with a trephine bur. The CNF/HAP membrane was prepared by thermally induced phase separation. In the experimental group (n = 18), the CNF/HAP membrane was used to cover the bony defect, and in the control group (n = 18), a resorbable collagen membrane (Bio-$Gide^{(R)}$) was used. In the negative control group (n = 18), no membrane was used. In each group, six animals were euthanized at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after surgery. The specimens were analyzed using micro-CT. Results: Bone volume (BV) and bone mineral density (BMD) of the new bone showed significant difference between the negative control group and membrane groups (P < 0.05). However, between two membranes, the difference was not significant. Conclusions: The CNF/HAP membrane has significant effect on the new bone formation and has the potential to be applied for guided bone regeneration.

Stafne Bone Cavity of the Mandible

  • Stafne bone cavity is a rare mandibular defect that was first reported by Edward C. Stafne in 1942. It commonly presents with a well-demarcated, asymptomatic, unilateral radiolucency that indicates lingual invagination of the cortical bone. A 52-year-old female patient who with nasal bone fracture, visited the hospital. During facial bone computed tomography (CT) for facial area evaluation, a well-shaped cystic lesion was accidentally detected on the right side of the mandible. Compared to the left side, no swelling or deformity was observed in the right side of the oral lesion, and no signs of deformity caused by mucosal inflammation. 3D CT scans, and mandible series x-rays were performed, which showed a well-ossified radiolucent oval lesion. Axial CT image revealed a cortical defect containing soft tissue lesion, which has similar density as the submandibular gland on the lingual surface of the mandible. The fact that Stafne cavity is completely surrounded by the bone is the evidence to support the hypothesis that embryonic salivary gland is entrapped by the bone. In most cases, Stafne bone cavity does not require surgical treatment. We believe that the mechanical pressure from the salivary gland could have caused the defect.

열처리된 AgInS$_2$ 박막의 defect 연구 (Defect studies of annealed AgInS$_2$ epilayer)

  • A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, AgInS$_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy(HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were 680 $^{\circ}C$ and 410 $^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction(DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect by van der Pauw method are 9.35${\times}$10$\^$16/ cm$\^$-3/ and 294 $\textrm{cm}^2$/V$.$s at 293 K, respectively. From the optical absorption measurement, the temperature dependence of the energy band gap on AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films was found to be E$\_$g/(T) : 2.1365 eV - (9.89 ${\times}$ 10$\^$-3/ eV) T$^2$/(2930 + T). After the as-grown AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Ag-, S-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by using the photoluminescence(PL) at 10 K. The native defects of V$\_$AG/, V$\_$S/, Ag$\_$int/, and S$\_$int/ obtained from PL measurements were classified as a donors or acceptors type. And we concluded that the heat-treatment in the S-atmosphere converted AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films to an optical p-type. Also, we confirmed that In in AgInS$_2$/GaAs did not form the native defects because In in AgInS$_2$ single crystal thin films did exist in the form of stable bonds.

가토의 두개 결손부에서의 실크 단백질과 platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)의 골형성 효과 (The bone regenerative effect of silk fibroin mixed with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in the calvaria defect of rabbit)

  • Introduction: This study evaluated the bone regenerative effect of silk fibroin mixed with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) of a bone defect in rabbits. Materials and Methods: Ten New Zealand white rabbits were used for this study and bilateral round shaped defects were formed in the parietal bone (diameter: 8.0 mm). The silk fibroin mixed with PRF was grafted into the right parietal bone (experimental group). The left side (control group) was grafted only PRF. The animals were sacrificed at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. A micro-computerized tomography (${\mu}$CT) of each specimen was taken. Subsequently, the specimens were decalcified and stained for histological analysis. Results: The average value of plane film analysis was higher in the experimental group than in the control group at 4 weeks and 8weeks after surgery. However, the difference was not statistically significant.(P>0.05) The tissue mineral density (TMD) in the experimental group at 4 weeks after surgery was significantly higher than the control group.(P<0.05) Conclusion: Silk fibroin can be used as a scaffold of PRF for rabbit calvarial defect repair.

와이블 분포함수를 이용한 하수관로 노후도 추정 (Estimation of sewer deterioration by Weibull distribution function)

  • Sewer deterioration models are needed to forecast the remaining life expectancy of sewer networks by assessing their conditions. In this study, the serious defect (or condition state 3) occurrence probability, at which sewer rehabilitation program should be implemented, was evaluated using four probability distribution functions such as normal, lognormal, exponential, and Weibull distribution. A sample of 252 km of CCTV-inspected sewer pipe data in city Z was collected in the first place. Then the effective data (284 sewer sections of 8.15 km) with reliable information were extracted and classified into 3 groups considering the sub-catchment area, sewer material, and sewer pipe size. Anderson-Darling test was conducted to select the most fitted probability distribution of sewer defect occurrence as Weibull distribution. The shape parameters (β) and scale parameters (η) of Weibull distribution were estimated from the data set of 3 classified groups, including standard errors, 95% confidence intervals, and log-likelihood values. The plot of probability density function and cumulative distribution function were obtained using the estimated parameter values, which could be used to indicate the quantitative level of risk on occurrence of CS3. It was estimated that sewer data group 1, group 2, and group 3 has CS3 occurrence probability exceeding 50% at 13th-year, 11th-year, and 16th-year after the installation, respectively. For every data groups, the time exceeding the CS3 occurrence probability of 90% was also predicted to be 27th- to 30th-year after the installation.

광화학적 방법을 통한 InP계 양자점 표면결함 부동태화 연구 (Study on Surface-defect Passivation of InP System Quantum Dots by Photochemical Method)

  • In this study, the surface passivation process for InP-based quantum dots (QDs) is investigated. Surface coating is performed with poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and thioglycolic acid. The quantum yield (QY) of a PMMA-coated sample slightly increases by approximately 1.3% relative to that of the as-synthesized InP/ZnS QDs. The QYs of the uncoated and PMMA-coated samples drastically decrease after 16 days because of the high defect state density of the InP-based QDs. PMMA does not have a significant effect on the defect passivation. Thioglycolic acid is investigated in this study for the effective surface passivation of InP-based QDs. Surface passivation with thioglycolic acid is more effective than that with the PMMA coating, and the QY increases from 1.7% to 11.3%. ZnS formed on the surface of the InP QDs and S in thioglycolic acid show strong bonding property. Additionally, the QY is further increased up to 21.0% by the photochemical reaction. Electron-hole pairs are formed by light irradiation and lead to strong bonding between the inorganic and thioglycolic acid sulfur. The surface of the InP core QDs, which does not emit light, is passivated by the irradiated light and emits green light after the photochemical reaction.
