낯설게 하기(Defamiliarization)를 통해 본 Münn의 패션 디자인 고찰 (A Study on the Fahion Design of MÜNN from the Perspective of Defamiliarization)

  • In the fashion industry, the demand for new perspectives to express creativity has always been high. Expression of new perspectives allows creative ideas to emerge, thereby breaking away from habitual and familiar perceptions. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze how the theory of defamiliarization is being applied in fashion design by the brand Münn, which claims defamiliarization as a design philosophy. The study examined the concepts and the characteristics of Viktor Shklovsky by literature review and derived the main characteristics of the defamiliarization theory for fashion design analysis based on studies that used defamiliarization in other fields. Furthermore, after analyzing Münn's collection, we found how the main characteristics of defamiliarization derived from reviews were expressed in Münn's designs. The defamiliarization in Münn's collection was first, 'breakaway from stereotype' appeared through re-recognition of perception and unexpected use of heterogeneous materials. Second, 'distortion and analogy through image' was revealed through the East and West clothing-making methods, which broke away from the stereotype of image and the juxtaposition and cultural reconstruction of details. Third, 'transition of viewpoint' was shown as an avant-garde sense through the conversion of usage purpose of design, material, or items in which subjects and objects were converted with conceptual design and material or silhouette.

  • 중국 청년 영화는 2013-2017년의 빠른 발전을 거친 후 지속적인 발전에 일정한 난관에 부딪히게 되었다. 따라서 영화의 창작 이념과 방법의 혁신을 통한 관객들의 감상 취미에 대한 소환과 새로운 심미 체험의 촉발은 중국 영화 시장에 관심을 가진 창작자들이 직면한 문제가 되었다. 영화 <먼 훗날 우리>는 2018년 큰 성공을 거둔 청년 영화이며, 그 창작 실천의 낯설게 하기는 중국 청년 영화의 창작에 새로운 이론과 방법 근거를 제공할 수 있다는 사실을 증명하였다. 따라서 중국 청년 영화 발전 상황을 토대로 영화 <먼 훗날 우리>를 연구 대상으로 삼아 서사담론 와 서사내용 등 두 가지 측면에서 영화의 낯설게 하기 표현 방법에 대해 분석하였다. 먼저 화면, 인물, 플롯은 서사담론의 낯설게 하기를 구성해 영화가 현실 세계를 "돋보이게"하고, 그 다음 도시 콤플렉스, 정체성, 고향 정서 등이 서사내용의 낯설게 하기를 구성해 기존 패턴에서 영화를 "돋보이게"한다. 이러한 창작 방법은 당대의 수요를 만족시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 기타 청년 영화 창작에 효과적인 참고를 제공할 수 있다. 비록 시대가 변화되고 있지만 성공 사례에 대한 분석을 통해 낯설게 하기 요소를 어떻게 이용할 것인지에 대한 연구는 여전히 매우 필요한 부분이다.

몸틀의 확장을 통한 디지털 예술의 무(巫)적 체험 (A Shamanic Experience in Digital Art by Expansion of Body Schema)

  • 본 연구는 디지털 기술을 통한 관객과 예술작품의 관계의 확장을 메를로-퐁티(Maurice Merleau Ponty)의 몸틀(Body Schema)의 확장이라는 관점으로 보고 이를 통해 획득되는 예술적 가치를 하이데거의 낯섦(Defamiliarization)으로 설명한다. 이에 본 연구는 디지털 예술과 관객의 관계에서 비롯되는 낯선 경험이 디지털 예술에서 담당하는 역할에 대해 논의한다. 또한 본 연구는 관객이 사이-존재, 혹은 시인으로서 하이데거의 사방(四方 : The fourfold)즉 세계와 대지, 신적인 것과 죽을 자 사이에서의 역할에 대해 논의한다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 기존 예술작품과 비교하여 디지털 예술작품에서의 독특한 예술적 체험을 무(巫)적 체험으로 부르고, 이를 관객과의 상호작용을 요구하는 디지털 예술의 예술적 가치로 설명하는데 그 의의가 있다.

청소년의 방과후학교 그림책 창작 프로그램을 매개로 한 그림책 치료에 대한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on Reading Therapy through After-school Picturebook Making Activity Program for Adolescents)

  • 본 논문은 중학생들을 대상으로 한 방과후학교 그림책 창작 프로그램에 관한 현상학적 연구이다. 본 연구는 그림책 창작활동을 통한 자기내면 발견과 치유의 과정을 분석함으로써 그림책 창작활동의 이론적 체계를 확립하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구참여자는 6명의 중학생이며 그림책 창작 프로그램을 5단계 설계로 구성 적용하였고 연구참여자들의 심층 인터뷰와 자기 그림책 해석에 대한 내용을 서술하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 첫째, 그림책 창작은 자기의 원본보다 더 초과적인 하이퍼 리얼리티(hyper-reality)를 통한 자기 세계를 구성할 수 있다. 둘째, 괴물이라는 두려운 존재는 낯설게 하기(defamiliarization)를 통해 자신의 문제를 다양한 각도에서 견지할 수 있으며 의식의 고양과 통찰력을 키웠다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 그림책 창작이 자신의 존재를 이 세상에 드러내는 하나의 방식이고 이를 통해 자기와 일상생활의 의미를 탐구하고 구성하는 과정이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구 결과의 근거로 그림책 창작 활동이 원본과는 다른 또 다른 세계의 창조, 낯설게 하기 장치를 통한 잠재적 의식의 자극효과와 그림책 창작의 자기존재 정립에 대해 논의하였다.

일.가정양립태도와 환경이 취업모가 지각한 모자간 자원제공에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Work-Family Related Environment and Attitude on Resource Exchange between Working Mothers and Their Child)

  • This research tried to identify how different types of environments related with work-family reconciliation effects the amount of resource exchange between working mothers and their child. In this study, we applied theoretical concepts such as 'Defamiliarization'(rights of mothers to access the work force without any environmental obstacles) and 'Familiarization'(a movement trying to balance work with family and child). This study is an analysis of valid questionnaires filled out by 220 female respondent's who was holding a job and also had children attending elementary, middle, or high school at the time answering the survey questionnaire. Results of this survey are as follows. Mother's attitudes toward familiarization and child's school environments related with defamiliarization had critical effects on mother's perceived resource exchange. And in a further analysis, among the clustered groups of mothers the group which consists of mothers who try to work hardly on both work and family had the highest degree of the resource supplies to their child.

현대 실내디자인의 하이브리드 미학적 표현기법과 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expression Techniques and Characteristic of Hybrid Aesthetics in Contemporary Interior Design)

  • In comtemporary interior design, hybrid form causes cognitive turnovers of aesthetics. Especially it offers much possibility to expression techniques in interior design and works as compound system, symbolic aggregate that makes and expands various meanings. The aesthetic ideology of hybrid design can be interpreted through the philosphic concept of art, sublime, reception, representation and explains expression techniques and characteristic in interior design through various transformation and meaning conversion. The expression techinique that is a form of openness, transcendental interpretation that exceed a dupilicate of meaning. can be classified as oxymoron, defamiliarization and interface. The characteristic that is based on those expressions appears as use of complex codes of visual images, decoding strategy, intertextuality of meaning. This research attitude can explain the thinking method of interior design by defining the epistemological scheme that is basically involved in expressional styles with characteristics of hybrid aesthetics. In order to be recognized as the object of aesthetics, hybrid has to be approached by interpretational methods of expression techniques. Consequently the characters of expression techniques in hybrid design can be investigated as one of the methodology in interior design plan.

디스토피아 관념의 영향을 받은 패션 연구 (A Study of Fashion Influenced by Dystopian Ideas)

  • This study investigates the relationship between dystopian ideas and fashion since the $20^{th}$ century and examines the social meaning of fashion influenced by dystopian ideas. From the 1900s to the 1950s, the idea of dehumanization by authoritarian governments and technology gave rise to fashion for freedom and self-introspection, which includes surrealistic fashion and beat style. In the 1980s and 1990s, a society marked by monopolistic power and the hi-tech control of humans was regarded as dystopia. It influenced a fashion that expressed dehumanization by hi-tech means such as cyberpunk style and designs that depicted or used electronic elements. The ongoing fear of ecological disaster since the late $20^{th}$ century also influenced designers to present collections concerned with environmental problems. Designers have created designs with printed messages on environmental issues or designs that express environmental devastation, and protective designs that use hi-tech fabrics or mechanical devices. Fashion influenced by dystopian ideas expressed contemporary fears, provided a critical view of society through defamiliarization, and sought problem-solving actions and alternatives to change or cope with the dystopian situation. Dystopian fashion gave society a chance to face contemporary problems and pursue a better society.

디지털 게임의 반몰입적 특성과 전략에 관한 연구 (A Study on Anti-immersive Strategy and Characteristics of Digital Games)

  • 디지털 게임 경험에 있어 몰입은 가장 중요한 요인이다. 그러나 일부 게임은 다양한 방법으로 플레이어의 몰입을 흩트리고 이로 인한 심리적 거리감을 말미암아 성찰의 기회를 부여한다. 이러한 전략은 '낯설게 하기' 기법과 유사한 측면이 있다. 이에 본고는 디지털 게임의 반몰입 전략의 특성과 유형을 검토하고, 이를 '감각정보의 교란', '서사의 반전 및 장르의 전복', '경험의 제한' 세 가지로 제시하였다. 분석 결과, 시청각적 정보의 과잉, 축적된 정보나 장르 문법을 낯설게 하기, 특정한 선택과 경험의 강요는 반몰입 유발에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 해당 연구는 대안적 게임의 반몰입 전략을 정리하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

  • The recent works of architecture and interior design take on too various aspects to be classified as a trend or tendency. Many subjects, seeking the superiority between form and function in space which was the issue of Modernism, got to face the works which transcend the limitation of architecture due to the development of a variety of media and technology these days. In result, we could see the works which are to be Included into the category of art rather than architecture. This study starts from the thought that the common aspects of these works are based on the strangeness to pursue uniqueness, peculiarities or novelty. 'The subject of this study, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$, creates a new relation, disconnected from customs, to an architecture which became familiar through defragment, fixation and abstraction by the habitual relation and makes it reborn as an architecture which gives us a fantasy and a pleasure, by converting into the shape and image which are different from its original shape when a stimulus is given to an architecture. This study starts from the artistic aspect which has a close correlation with the architecture. The subject, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$ could be historically considered in two aspects - $D\acute{e}paysement$ of Surrealism which developed in paintings and Defamiliarization of Russian Formalism in the area of literature. This study is carried in a category of $D\acute{e}paysement$, focusing on the visual aspect of the architecture. This study is composed as follows: In chapter 2, a theoretical research is performed according to the definition and meaning of the $D\acute{e}paysement$ expression techniques, its origination and evolution, and type classification by the features of expression techniques in the era of Surrealism when $D\acute{e}paysement$ developed most vigorously in the area of art. In chapter 3, the system which formalizes the expression method of the techniques is presented, focusing on the case analysis of the artistic works according to the types of $D\acute{e}paysement$. In chapter 4, the application of the expression techniques of $D\acute{e}paysement$ is discussed by conducting cases analysis of the modern interior design.

Surrealistic Characteristics Expressed in Fashion Ads

  • In contemporary advertising market, one of main trends is to speak surrealistic visual language which provides 'enjoyable spectacles'. Specially, in the beginning of 21st century, there discovered more and more exhibitions and discourses about surrealism reinterpreted from the viewpoint of postmodernism. Surrealism as a creative style of expression based upon free association, has been a great inspiration for fashion ads for commercial communication as well as fashion design since its origin. However, there has been ignored the idea of analyzing surrealistic image expressed in fashion ads in spite of their flood. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to grasp its cultural meaning through analyzing aesthetic characteristics of surrealistic image expressed in fashion ads. It will provide a better understanding of surrealistic image in fashion ads reflecting popular taste and preference directly as popular visual culture, focusing on post modern context. A case study of surrealistic fashion ads limits to TV or print commercials and digital ads as image ads stimulating visual expressions. The Results can be summarized as follows. Surrealism is an avant garde style which deconstructs the established meaning system as well as the existing formalistic order and then put them together in the frame of 'dream' and 'unconsciousness'. Defamiliarization questioning the whole edifice of representation can be adapted to. By means of paradox and metaphor, unfamiliar new visual world can be represented. The plastic characteristics of surrealistic image in fashion ads are founded as surrealistic styling of time and space, distortion of object by methods of automatism, depaysement, parody and trompe-l'oeil which bring about the deconstruction of gestalt. Aesthetic values of surrealistic fashion ads appear as dualistic representation, allegoric symbolism, fantastic romanticism. Ultimately they lead to marvelous. mysterious, humorous visual effects. Foster reinterpreted these effects of surrealism from Freud's 'Uncanny Concept'. 'Uncanny' means the phenomenon recurring to familiar being defamiliarized by repression. Surrealistic fashion ads strengthen this shocking effect more and more dramatically in company with our post modern needs for fantastic adventure and thrilling spectacle. It can be thought that surrealistic fashion ads reflects uncanny as an alternative which can relieve us of our stress and anxiety and which realize our potential desire in contemporary post industrial stage.
