  • In this paper, laser marking systems dedicated to cylinderical parts was developed. We first develop the marking device which consists of Nd-Yag laser, galvano scanner and additional rotational axis, then develop algorithm for supporting the digital image with bmp data format. Additional rotational axis is so attached as to rotate the cylinderical parts for marking its whole surface. The image is separated into line by line and the separated line image is sent to galvano scanner while rotating the additional axis simultaneously. CxImage library, famous open source code, is employed for the image processing. The developed method was tested with various images and shows that it reduces marking time significantly without reducing marking quality.

  • Objective: We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the agreement of cardiac computed tomography (CT) with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) in the assessment of right ventricle (RV) volume and functional parameters. Materials and Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane library were systematically searched for studies that compared CT with CMRI as the reference standard for measurement of the following RV parameters: end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), or ejection fraction (EF). Meta-analytic methods were utilized to determine the pooled weighted bias, limits of agreement (LOA), and correlation coefficient (r) between CT and CMRI. Heterogeneity was also assessed. Subgroup analyses were performed based on the probable factors affecting measurement of RV volume: CT contrast protocol, number of CT slices, CT reconstruction interval, CT volumetry, and segmentation methods. Results: A total of 766 patients from 20 studies were included. Pooled bias and LOA were 3.1 mL (-5.7 to 11.8 mL), 3.6 mL (-4.0 to 11.2 mL), -0.4 mL (5.7 to 5.0 mL), and -1.8% (-5.7 to 2.2%) for EDV, ESV, SV, and EF, respectively. Pooled correlation coefficients were very strong for the RV parameters (r = 0.87-0.93). Heterogeneity was observed in the studies (I2 > 50%, p < 0.1). In the subgroup analysis, an RV-dedicated contrast protocol, ≥ 64 CT slices, CT volumetry with the Simpson's method, and inclusion of the papillary muscle and trabeculation had a lower pooled bias and narrower LOA. Conclusion: Cardiac CT accurately measures RV volume and function, with an acceptable range of bias and LOA and strong correlation with CMRI findings. The RV-dedicated CT contrast protocol, ≥ 64 CT slices, and use of the same CT volumetry method as CMRI can improve agreement with CMRI.

  • Thanks to IEEE 802.11 technique, accessing Internet through a wireless LAN(Local Area Network) is possible in the most of the places including university campuses, shopping malls, offices, hospitals, stations, and so on. Most of the APs(access points) for wireless LAN are supporting 2.4 GHz band 802.11b and 802.11g protocols. This paper is introducing a C# library function which can be used to read RSSIs(Received Signal Strength Indicator) from APs. An LBS(Location Based Service) estimates the current location of the user and provides useful user's location-based services such as navigation, points of interest, and so on. Therefore, indoor, LBS is very desirable. However, an indoor LBS cannot be realized unless indoor position ing is possible. For indoor positioning, techniques of using infrared, ultrasound, signal strength of UDP packet have been proposed. One of the disadvantages of these techniques is that they require special equipments dedicated for positioning. On the other hand, wireless LAN-based indoor positioning does not require any special equipments and more economical. A wireless LAN-based positioning cannot be realized without reading RSSIs from APs. Therefore, our C# library function will be widely used in the field of indoor positioning. In addition to providing a C# library function of reading RSSI, this paper introduces implementation of indoor positioning modules making use of the library function. The methods used in the implementation are K-NN(K Nearest Neighbors), Bayesian and trilateration. K-NN and Bayesian are kind of fingerprinting method. A fingerprint method consists of off-line phase and realtime phase. The process time of realtime phase must be fast. This paper proposes a decision tree method in order to improve the process time of realtime phase. Experimental results of comparing performances of these methods are also discussed.

  • This study focused on the domestic hospital libraries, the policies and support projects for them, and the current operation status of them. To this end, a list of hospital libraries was established and the operation status was investigated by conducting telephone interviews with 73 libraries collected. As a result, it was found that hospital libraries were established through support projects of other institutions (foundations, enterprises, etc.) rather than by the parent institutions, most of which were barely maintained except for certain actively operated ones. In terms of space, hospital libraries equipped with independent space were mostly operated on a small scale, and bookshelves were deployed in space for other purposes such as lounge and hallway. In terms of operation, a dedicated department or personnel for the library operation hardly existed, and more than half of them did not purchase additional books, simply maintaining the donated books at the time of the establishment. It was also shown that for services and programs, only booklending services are provided, except for a few libraries. Therefore, national policies and support will be needed to revitalize hospital libraries in the future, and the government needs to seek ways to continuously operate them through links with local representative libraries and public libraries.

  • Many libraries have recently become enlarged and industrialized. Spaces dedicated to natural environments and climates in libraries have been isolated, and spaces that take natural environments into consideration have only recently started to receive attention. People all around the world enjoy reading books in nature. Reading is interpreted as the same context as the desire to go somewhere higher. Contemporary people have discovered ways to enjoy reading books along with nature by establishing bookshelves in mountains, forests, or green fields. These people have created libraries that place nature as the protagonist. In spatial terms, natural environments mainly encompass scientific and systemic concepts and embrace a sentimental approach to the natural environments of local areas not previously considered. The purpose of this research study is to present the direction for spatial planning that harmonizes nature with space, and to propose the spatial planning of a "small library" by applying natural environmental characteristics.

  • In this work, we present the theoretical formulation, operator split solution procedure and partitioned software development for the coupled thermomechanical systems. We consider the general case with nonlinear evolution for each sub-system (either mechanical or thermal) with dedicated time integration scheme for each sub-system. We provide the condition that guarantees the stability of such an operator split solution procedure for fully nonlinear evolution of coupled thermomechanical system. We show that the proposed solution procedure can accommodate different evolution time-scale for different sub-systems, and allow for different time steps for the corresponding integration scheme. We also show that such an approach is perfectly suitable for parallel computations. Several numerical simulations are presented in order to illustrate very satisfying performance of the proposed solution procedure and confirm the theoretical speed-up of parallel computations, which follow from the adequate choice of the time step for each sub-problem. This work confirms that one can make the most appropriate selection of the time step with respect to the characteristic time-scale, carry out the separate computations for each sub-system, and then enforce the coupling to preserve the stability of the operator split computations. The software development strategy of direct linking the (existing) codes for each sub-system via Component Template Library (CTL) is shown to be perfectly suitable for the proposed approach.

  • In the social information facilities with physical stacks, it is critical to arrange categories of knowledge since there should be conventional methods by which users and visitors can browse index of all sorts of media relating to their topics. The classical index system of knowledge has been developed with primitive libraries and museums and therefore the system can be addressed by analyzing typical cases of precedents. As the forth industrial revolution has emerged, there will be quite innovative approach to provide information to the public as well as the private. The coalition between knowledge and space has always been considered as essential characteristics that remind scholars of hierarchical layout of knowledge resources such as maps, books, documents and diverse specimens. This research assumes that the spatial layout of knowledge can be classified in terms of physical attributes, symbolic entities, and information media and it defines what coalition between knowledge and space is creative in order to enacting interactive dialogue among information navigators. The spaces in between the knowledges function as trasition areas where the index system informs and stimulates, where the interface between the different knowledges is optimized and therefore the library as the public facilities no longer dedicated to the text, but as an information space in which all sorts of media are distributed equally.

  • The im of the present study is to introduce and develop the concept and theory of conspectus for the first time in Korea, and to propose a new evaluation model for book collection by actually applying the developed methodology to the collection of a special library dedicated to Biblical Studies. Conspectus is a standardized and objective evaluation method that classifies the main collection according to the division, category, subject, and then gives each collection ots appropriate collection level code by analyzing the classified collection in terms of three different dimensions, which are Current Collection Level(CL), Acquisition Commitment Level(AC), and Collection Goal Level(GL). To evaluate the collection of the sample library, shelflist analysis, list checking, acquisition data in ordering process by their main subject, and survey of its users have been carried out, and all of their results ahve been indicated in terms of eleven collection level codes developed by WLN Conspectus. T e collection of sample library was evaluated as '3cW' for CL, '4W' for AC, and '4W' for GL when the Conspectus methodology was applied for evaluation. This study could be utilized as an collection evaluation model for theological libraries, and become a basis to bring about more active cooperative collection development among related libraries.

  • This study investigated librarians' awareness of and demand for the librarian learning community in order to successfully introduce and operate the librarian learning community. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted targeting current librarians and a total of 474 responses were collected. The main analysis results are as follows. Firstly, librarians showed a very low awareness of the librarian learning community, while they highly evaluated the purpose and significance of such a community. Secondly, the motivations for librarians to participate in the librarian learning community were primarily focused on professional growth, solidarity with colleagues, and satisfaction of intellectual curiosity, in that order. Thirdly, the ultimate values of the librarian learning community were identified as improving library services, enhancing professionalism, fostering collaborative group exploration, sharing values and visions. Fourthly, the success factors of the librarian-learning community were ranked as follows: member voluntarism, a culture of collaboration among members, dedicated time (once a week), and a supportive environment (budget, space, etc.). On the other hand, the failure factors were identified as a lack of time due to heavy workloads, lack of member voluntarism, indifference from superiors, and insufficient support environment (budget, space, etc.). Finally, the willingness to participate is also very high. Furthermore, it was observed that there is a wide range of interests in various topics among librarians. The results of this study are expected to be useful as basic data for determining practical operation methods or selecting topics when operating a librarian learning community in the future.
