This paper presents a novel switching voltage model and an offset-based pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme for multilevel inverters with unbalanced DC sources. The switching voltage model under a DC voltage imbalance will be formulated in general form for multilevel neutral-point-clamped topologies. Analysis of the reference switching voltages from active and non-active switching voltage components in abc coordinates can enable voltage implementation for an unbalanced DC-source condition. Offset voltage is introduced as an indispensable variable in the switching voltage model for multilevel voltage-source inverters. The PWM performance is controlled through the design of two offset components in a subsequence. One main offset may refer to the common mode voltage, and the other offset restricts its effect on the quality of PWM control in related DC levels. The PWM quality can be improved as the switching loss is reduced in a discontinuous PWM mode by setting the local offset, which is related to the load currents. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by experimental results.
A parallel control strategy in capacity proportion frequency allocation mode for shunt active power filters (APFs) is proposed to overcome some of the difficulties in high power applications. To improve the compensation accuracy and overall system stability, an improved selective harmonic current control based on multiple synchronous rotating reference coordinates is presented in a single APF unit, which approximately implements zero steady-state error compensation. The combined decoupling strategy is proposed and theoretically analyzed to simplify selective harmonic current control. Improved selective harmonic current control forms the basis for multi-APF parallel operation. Therefore, a parallel control strategy is proposed to realize a proper optimization so that the APFs with a larger capacity compensate more harmonic current and the ones with a smaller capacity compensate less harmonic current, which is very practical for accurate harmonic current compensation and stable grid operation in high power applications. This is verified by experimental results. The total harmonic distortion (THD) is reduced from 29% to 2.7% for a typical uncontrolled rectifier load with a resistor and an inductor in a laboratory platform.

TFLIM(Transverse Flux Linear Induction Motor), making its closed magnetic path with the direction of the traveling field orthogonal, had been developed to decrease an edge effect of the general induction motor. To control the levitation force and the thrust force on the secondary part of TFLIM independently, the various methodologies have been presented. When we try to achieve the independent control using only the multi-phase inputs assigned in the stator coils as an approach, in which condition we can minimize the coupling effect between two forces\ulcorner In this paper, we show the qualitative influence of a slip frequency, an ac magnitude, a dc offset superposed in the ac power, and a major parameter of TFLIM on the couple through the computer simulation. And to realize the independent motions between levitation and thrust motion without any auxiliary means fur isolation of the secondary part of TFLIM, the decouple compensator is suggested, including the experimental results.

Euclid is an optical/near-infrared survey mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) to investigate the nature of dark energy, dark matter and gravity by observing the geometry of the Universe and the formation of structures over cosmological timescales. The Euclid spacecraft mechanical architecture comprises the Payload Module (PLM) and the Service Module (SVM) connected by an interface structure designed to maximize thermal and mechanical decoupling. This paper shortly illustrates the mechanical system of the spacecraft and the mechanical verification philosophy which is based on the Structural and Thermal Model (STM), built at flight standard for structure and thermal qualification and the Proto Flight Model (PFM), used to complete the qualification programme. It will be submitted to a proto-flight test approach and it will be suitable for launch and flight operations. Within the overall verification approach crucial mechanical tests have been successfully performed (2018) on the SVM platform and on the sunshield (SSH) subsystem: the SVM platform static test, the SSH structure modal survey test and the SSH sine vibration qualification test. The paper reports the objectives and the main results of these tests.
Estimating the damage induced by an explosion around a blast hole has always been a challenging issue in geotechnical engineering. It is difficult to determine an exact dimension for damage zone since many parameters are involved in the formation of failures, and there are some uncertainties lying in these parameters. Thus, the present study adopted a probabilistic approach towards this problem. First, a reliability model of the problem was established and the failure probability of induced damage was calculated. Then, the corresponding exceedance risk curve was developed indicating the relation between the failure probability and the cracked zone radius. The obtained risk curve indicated that the failure probability drops dramatically by increasing the cracked zone radius so that the probability of exceedance for any crack length greater than 4.5 m is less than 5%. Moreover, the effect of each parameter involved in the probability of failure, including blast hole radius, explosive density, detonation velocity, and tensile strength of the rock, was evaluated by using a sensitivity analysis. Finally, the impact of the decoupling ratio on the reduction of failures was investigated and the location of its maximum influence was demonstrated around the blast point.

The direct torque control method of an inverter fed squirrel cage typed induction motor using fuzzy logic controller has been proposed. This method is suitable for the traction which requires a fast torque response during the star-up and step change. The fuzzy control algorithm based upon the control principles of conventional DSC(Direct Self Controller) is developed. The fuzzy algorithm is tarried out by defuzzification strategy of the fuzzy output extracted from the possibility distribution of an inferred fuzzy control rule. The flux and torque of an induction motor are estimated by the dynamic model of the rotor flux field-oriented scheme which has decoupling characteristics and excellent dynamic response over a wide speed range. The proposed controller shows a good dynamic response. Moreover, since the fuzzy controller possesses highly adaptive capability, the performance of fuzzy controller is quite robust and insensitive to the motor parameters and change of operation conditions.
This paper proposes a quantitative criterion for optimization of actuator placement for the Prestress-Accumulation Release (PAR) strategy of mitigation of vibrations. The PAR strategy is a recently developed semi-active control approach that relies on controlled redistribution of vibration energy into high-order modes, which are high-frequency and thus effectively dissipated by means of the natural mechanisms of material damping. The energy transfer is achieved by a controlled temporary removal of selected structural constraints. This paper considers a short-time decoupling of rotational degrees of freedom in a frame node so that the bending moments temporarily cease to be transferred between the involved beams. We propose and test a quantitative criterion for placement of such actuators. The criterion is based on local modal strain energy that can be released into high-order modes. The numerical time complexity is linear with respect to the number of actuators and potential placements, which facilitates quick analysis in case of large structures.

Controlling the blast-induced damage zone(BDZ) in mining excavation is a significant issue for the safety of employees and the maintenance of facilities. Numerous studies have been conducted to accurately predict the BDZ in underground mining. This study employed the dynamic fracture process analysis (DFPA) to estimate the BDZ from a single hole blasting. The estimated BDZ were compared with the results obtained by Swedish empirical equation. The DFPA was also used to investigate the control mechanism of BDZ and fracture plane formation around perimeter holes for underground mining blasting.
This paper proposes a grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system, consisting of Voltage-fed dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter with single phase inverter. The proposed converter allows a small dc-link capacitor, so that system reliability can be improved by replacing electrolytic capacitors with film capacitors. The double line frequency free maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is also realized in the proposed converter by using Ripple Correlation method. First of all, to eliminate the double line frequency ripple which influence the reduction of DC source capacitance, control is developed. Then, a designing of Current control in DQ frame is analyzed and to fulfill the international harmonics standards such as IEEE 519 and P1547, $3^{rd}$ harmonic in the grid is directly compensated by the feedforward terms generated by the PR controller with the grid current in stationary frame to achieve desire Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). 5-kW PV converter and inverter module with a small dc-link film capacitor was built in the laboratory with the proposed control and MPPT algorithm. Experimental results are given to validate the converter performance.
For a solid-state transformer (SST), some factors, such as signal delay, switching loss and differences in the system parameters, lead to unbalanced DC-link voltages among the cascaded H-bridges (CHB). With a control method implemented in the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ frame, the DC-link voltages are balanced, and the reactive power is equally distributed among all of the H-bridges. Based on the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ frame control, the system can achieve independent active current and reactive current control. In addition, the control method of the high-voltage stage is easy to implement without decoupling or a phase-locked loop. Furthermore, the method can eliminate additional current delays during transients and get the dynamic response rapidly without an imaginary current component. In order to carry out the controller design, the vector refactoring relations that are used to balance DC-link voltages are derived. Different strategies are discussed and simulated under the unbalanced load condition. Finally, a three-cell CHB rectifier is constructed to conduct further research, and the steady and transient experimental results verify the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed method.
