  • A three-level decoupled sliding mode controller is developed to achieve asymptotic stability for a class of sixth-order nonlinear systems. The sixth-order system is decoupled into three subsystems according to the structure of the whole system. Each subsystem has a separate control target in the form of a sliding surface. The information of the third sliding surface is transferred to the second one through an intermediate variable and the information of the second sliding surface is transferred to the first one through another intermediate variable. Consequently, the controller designed on the basis of the first sliding surface can make three subsystems move toward their sliding surfaces, respectively. The three-level decoupled sliding mode controller is applied to the double-inverted pendulum problem where the zero stable states are required.

  • We proposed a decoupled adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode control scheme for a class of fourth-order nonlinear systems. The system is decoupled into two second-order systems such that each subsystem has a separate control target expressed in terms of sliding surface. For these sliding surfaces, we define main and sub target conditions. and, we made intermediate variables which are interconnected both surface conditions from the sub target sliding surface. Then, Two sets of fuzzy rule bases are utilized to represent the equivalent control input with unknown system functions of the main target sliding surface including intermediate variables. The membership functions of the THEN-part, which is used to construct a suitable equivalent control of sliding-mode control, are changed according to the adaptive law. With such a design scheme, we not only maintain the distribution of membership functions over state space but also reduce the computing time considerably. We apply the decoupled adaptive sliding-mode control to a nonlinear Cart-Pole system and confirms the validity of the proposed approach.

  • This paper presents a method to design a controller for active suspension with 1-DOF decoupled models. Three 1-DOF decoupled models describing vertical, roll and pitch motions are used to design a controller in order to generate a vertical force, roll and pitch moments, respectively. These control inputs are converted into active suspension forces with geometric relationship. To design a controller, a sliding mode control is adopted. Frequency domain analysis and simulation on vehicle simulation software, CarSim$^{(R)}$, show that the proposed method is effective for ride comfort.

  • A problem of sliding mode control is chattering because of controle input signal included unknown disturbance and nonlinear input parameters. This paper presents a sliding mode controller design to inverted pendulum system. In this paper, a sliding mode control algorithm to reduce a chattering is proposed. The reduction of chattering is accomplished by smoothing function for nonlinear control input. In this method, the dynamic equations of the inverted pendulum is decoupled by considering nonlinear parameters and external disturbances. Therefore, this study is applied to obtain switching control inputs for sliding mode controller. The proposed technique is tested to the control of inverted pendulum through computer simulations. The result shown reduced chattering in control input.

  • In this paper, we proposed the decoupling VSS controllers for a trajectory control of a two degrees of freedom SCARA type manipulator. We decoupled the position and velocity of a manipulator tip by using a nonlinear error functions. The reference inputs of the controller can be decided directly from the desired position and velocity. Simulation result is provided to verity the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose the SIIM fuzzy Quasi-sliding mode controller for the system of a double inverted pendulum on a cart. Since it is difficult to handle this 6th-order system, we decoupled the entire system into three $2^{nd}$ order subsystem, and we designed the SIIM fuzzy Quasi-sliding mode controller for each subsystem, which was easy and did not require the derivation of the equivalent control. The stability of the entire system is guaranteed using Lyapunov function. The validity and robustness of the proposed controller are demonstrated through the computer simulation, and the results are compared with the results of former studies.

  • The development of the control algorithms for under-actuated systems is important. Decoupled sliding mode control has been successfully employed to control under-actuated systems in a decoupling manner with the use of sliding mode control. However, in such a control scheme, the system functions must be known. If there are uncertainties in those functions, the control performance may not be satisfactory. In this paper, the direct adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control is employed to control a class of under-actuated uncertain systems which can be regarded as a combination of several subsystems with one same control input. By using the hierarchical sliding control approach, a sliding control law is derived so as to make every subsystem stabilized at the same time. But, since the system considered is assumed to be uncertain, the sliding control law cannot be readily facilitated. Therefore, in the study, based on Lyapunov stable theory a fuzzy compensator is proposed to approximate the uncertain part of the sliding control law. From those simulations, it can be concluded that the proposed compensator can indeed cope with system uncertainties. Besides, it can be found that the proposed compensator also provide good robustness properties.

  • A new control scheme is developed to achieve fast and accurate decoupled tracking for an n-Joint robotic manipulator In the Presence of disturbances and unknown Parameter variations. The control system is designed so that a new type of state trajectories called sliding mode may exist in a phase plane. In order to remove the reaching Phase and high frequency chattering phenomenon which ate the common shortcomings of variable structure control(VSC) scheme, this paper presents the new switching line which is composed of three segments and the continuous control law which is derived from the existence condition of a sliding mode. The Proposed methods in this Paper are applied to a 3-Joint robotic manipulator as a numerical example-The digital simulation results which are compared with those of typical VSC scheme show the validity of accurate tracking capability and robust Performance of the system.
