  • The stabilized $ClO_2$ gas has been used for many years by the food industry as a strong oxidizing and sanitizing agent that has broad and high biocidal effectiveness. Therefore, "stabilized $ClO_2$" gas may be used in fields of disinfectant and sterilization. But, there have been few studies on the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas with passage of time. The main purpose of this study was to examine the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas and the morphological change of kidney by measuring of the light and electron microscope. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats weighting from 230 gm to 250 gm were used as experimental animals. Under ether anesthesia, the right kidney of rat was obtained. Put each sample in $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ incubator, we obtained each sample after 0 day, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days and 5 days. We proceeded the observation of light and electron microscope. The results obtained in this study reveal that stabilized $ClO_2$ gas is an effective decomposition inhibitor until 2 days that was conducted at $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ conditions.

  • Insoluble anodes of the Ta/Ir mixed metal oxide for electrodeposition of Ni-W alloy in ammoniacal citrate bath were prepared by thermal decomposition method. Ti plate was etched in boiling oxalic acid solution and coated with ethanol solution of $TaCl_{5}$ and $IrCl_4$ mixed in a fixed ratio, followed by drying and treating at various temperatures. The coating layer of these insoluble anode was characterized by SEM, EDX, XRD and DSC. The decomposition rate of citric acid in plating bath was determined by measuring the $CO_2$ gas evolved at the anodes with Gas Chromatography. Evolution of $CO_2$ gas from Ta/Ir oxide anodes decreased about 5% compared with that of Pt. The $CO_2$ gas evolution was increased with the amount of Ir-oxide in the coatings. The coatings which have more than 40% ratio of Ta content and heat-treated at the temperature higher than $400^{\circ}C$ showed better efficiency

  • The catalytic decomposition of CFC-113(1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane) was studied over an activated carbon catalyst in a fixed-bed reactor at the temperature from 300 to 600$^\circ$C, the space velocity (SV) of 1800 $\sim 14400h^{-1}$ and the mole ratio(decomposition agent/CFC-113) of 0.25 $\sim$ 5. In the absence of a decomposition agent, the decomposition efficiency of CFC-113 was low but when a decomposition agent was added to the gas stream, it was dramatically increased with the increase of temperature. In particular, in the presence of n-hexane as the decomposition agent it showed a high decomposition efficiency compared with benzene at 400$^\circ$C. It was found that the decomposition activity of CFC-113 was very sensitive to reaction temperature. Thus it is expected that to raise the reaction temperature is more effective than to increase the residence time and the amount of decomposition agent. Over the activated carbon catalyst more than 99% decomposition was achieved at the reaction temperature of 600$^\circ$C, SV of 7200$h^{-1}$, the mole ration $(C_6H_{14}/CFC-113)$ of 1 in this study.

  • This study investigated the effects of organic matter decomposition on the emission of greenhouse gas under the influence of environmental factors such as change of climate condition ($CO_2$ concentration and temperature), vegetation, and N concentration in the soil of Gyeongan stream in the laboratory. The experimental results showed that organic matter decomposition and $CH_4$, $CO_2$ flux were influenced by changes of complex environmental conditions. Organic matter decomposition rate was affected by changes of climate condition with N concentration and climate condition with vegetation. Through the results of $CH_4$, $CO_2$ flux, $CH_4$ flux was affected by change of climate condition with N concentration and climate condition with vegetation and affected by the presence of vegetation and N concentration. $CO_2$ flux was affected by change of climate condition with vegetation and vegetation with N concentration. According to results of the study, change of (1) climate conditions, (2) vegetation, and (3) N concentration, each have an effect on organic decomposition rate, that also influences emission of greenhouse gas. It is known that climate change is related to an increase in greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere However, additional study will be needed whether vegetation could remove positive effect of nitrogen addition in soil since this study shows opposite results of organic matter decomposition in response to the nitrogen addition.

  • Natural gas thermal decomposition method is the technology of converting natural gas (methane) into hydrogen and carbon at high temperature. The most advantage of thermal decomposition method is that hydrogen and carbon can be produced without emitting carbon dioxide. In this study, the generation of hydrogen and carbon was investigated by this natural gas (methane) thermal decomposition method. We found that pyrocarbon was created on the surface of reactor, carbon black was deposited on the pyrocarbon and final plugging phenomenon took place. To solve this problem, we tried several attempts such as introduction of double pipe reactor instead of single pipe reactor or oxidization of carbon black using $O_2$ or $CO_2$ at regular intervals of reaction. Therefore, some plugging phenomenon was resolved by this methods. Also, carbon particle size was measured by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) image and the size was about 200 nm.

  • Korea is one of the few OECD countries having no binding Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction obligations under the Kyoto Protocol. Korea is going to enforce a powerful greenhouse gas emissions control to the industry from 2015. Current GHG reduction policies do not take into account the trade-off between economic growth and GHG mitigation, this approach will not be sustainable. Sectoral approach, considering industry by industry may be more eco-friend approach. This study verified the validity of the analysis results counted from whole procedure of energy input-output analysis and decomposition analysis to sector 'Organic basic chemical products' and 'Cement and concrete products'. Empirical test was performed using changes in energy consumption, production, process improvements and new facilities. Although the results showed unstable fluctuations from Divisia index decomposition analysis, it was verified that the entire procedure can provide a clue in understanding of the industry's energy and GHG footprint.

  • Magnetite was synthesized with $FeSO_4$, and NaOH for the decomposition of carbon dioxide and for the study of the methane formation. The chemical equivalent ratio was changed from 0.5 to 1.50 for the magnetite synthesis. The chemical equivalent ratio was fixed in 1.00, and Nickel chloride and Rhodium chloride equally added and synthesized with the ratio was of 0.10~10.00 mole%. The crystal strucure of the synthesized magnetite was measured XRD. Putting synthesized magnetite in the reactor and using hydrogen gas oxygen-deficient magnetite was made. Injecting carbon dioxide in the reactor, the decomposition reaction was experimented. The formation of methane was confirmed injecting hydrogen gas in the reactor after carbon dioxide was decomposed.

  • In order to get oxidizing power enough for growth of a superconductive thin film with oxide gas, concentrated ozone was used. As a method for concentrating ozone, a method for concentrating ozone by adsorbing ozone selectively into silica-gel beads is adopted, and this concentration is analyzed by the ultraviolet absorption method, the thermal decomposition method and the Q-mass analyzing method. Thermal decomposition method is most effective for measurement of a high concentration of ozone. Ozone as concentrated by the adsorption method got to have a concentration of 97 mol % at the maximum, and it was identified that the concentration of the ozone gas was stable for the time while a thin film was formed.

  • Sulfur hexa-fluoride has been used as a etching gas in semiconductor industry. From the globally environmental issues, it is urgent to control the emissions of this significant greenhouse gas. The main objective of this experimental investigation was to find the effective catalyst for $SF_6$ decomposition. The precursor catalyst of hexa-aluminate was prepared to investigate the catalytic activity and stability. The precursor catalyst of hexa-aluminate was modified with Ni to enhance the catalytic activities and stability. The catalytic activity for $SF_6$ decomposition increased by the addition of Ni and maximized at 6wt% addition of Ni. The addition of 6wt% Ni in precursor catalyst of hexa-aluminate improved the resistant to the HF and reduced the crystallization and phase transition of catalyst.
