  • Application of existing decision tree algorithms for Internet retail customer classification is apt to construct a bushy tree due to imprecise source data. Even excessive analysis may not guarantee the effectiveness of the business although the results are derived from fully detailed segments. Thus, it is necessary to determine the appropriate number of segments with a certain level of abstraction. In this study, we developed a stopping rule that considers the total amount of information gained while generating a rule tree. In addition to forwarding from root to intermediate nodes with a certain level of abstraction, the decision tree is investigated by the backtracking pruning method with misclassification loss information.

  • Efficient ordering of decision variables is one of the methods that find solutions quickly in the depth first search using backtracking. At this time, development of variables ordering algorithms considering dynamic and static properties of the problems is very important. However, to exploit optimal variable ordering algorithms appropriate to the problems. In this paper, we propose a problem classifying rule which provides problem type based on variables' properties, and use this rule to predict optimal type of variable ordering algorithms. We choose frequency allocation problem as a DS-type whose decision variables have dynamic and static properties, and estimate optimal variable ordering algorithm. We also show the usefulness of problem classifying rule by applying base station problem as a special case whose problem type is not generated from the presented rule.

  • DELVAUX is a genetics-based inductive learning system that learns a rule-set, which consists of Bayesian classification rules, from sets of examples for classification tasks. One problem that DELVAUX faces in the rule-set learning process is that, occasionally, the learning process ends with a local optimum without finding the best rule-set. Another problem is that, occasionally, the learning process ends with a rule-set that performs well for the training examples but not for the unknown testing examples. This paper describes efforts to alleviate these two problems centering on the N-version learning approach, in which multiple rule-sets are learning and a classification system is constructed with those learned rule-sets to improve the overall performance of a classification system. For the implementation of the N-version learning approach, we propose a decision-making scheme that can draw a decision using multiple rule-sets and a genetic algorithm approach to find a good combination of rule-sets from a set of learned rule-sets. We also present empirical results that evaluate the effect of the N-version learning approach in the DELVAUX learning environment.

  • In the growing data saturated world, the question of "whether data can be used" has shifted to "can it be utilized effectively?" More data is being generated and utilized than ever before. As the collection of data increases, data mining techniques also must become more and more accurate. Thus, to ensure this data is effectively utilized, the analysis of the data must be efficient. Interpretation of results from the analysis of the data set presented, have their own on the basis it is possible to obtain the desired data. In the data mining method a decision tree, clustering, there is such a relationship has not yet been fully developed algorithm actually still impact of various factors. In this experiment, the classification method of data mining techniques is used with easy decision tree. Also, it is used special technology of one R and J48 classification technique in the decision tree. After selecting a rule that a small error in the "one rule" in one R classification, to create one of the rules of the prediction data, it is simple and accurate classification algorithm. To create a rule for the prediction, we make up a frequency table of each prediction of the goal. This is then displayed by creating rules with one R, state-of-the-art, classification algorithm while creating a simple rule to be interpreted by the researcher. While the following can be correctly classified the pattern specified in the classification J48, using the concept of a simple decision tree information theory for configuring information theory. To compare the one R algorithm, it can be analyzed error rate and accuracy. One R and J48 are generally frequently used two classifications${\ldots}$

  • Decision fusion in wireless sensor networks under non-Gaussian noise channels is studied. To consider the tail behavior noise distributions, we use a exponentially-tailed distribution as a wide class of noise distributions. Based on a canonical parallel fusion model with fading and noise channels, the likelihood ratio(LR) based fusion rule is considered as an optimal fusion rule under Neyman-Pearson criterion. With both high and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) approximation to the optimal rule, we obtain several suboptimal fusion rules. and we propose a simple fusion rule that provides robust detection performance with a minimum prior information, Performance evaluation for several fusion rules is peformed through simulation. Simulation results show the robustness of the Proposed simple fusion rule.

  • Despite the fact that the implementation of 5% rule is widely recognized to enhance the transparency of capital market and fairness of corporate governance market, a few evidences present information effect of 5% rule. Using 7,088 non-financial firm-year observations listed on the Korea Stock Exchange from 2006 to 2012, we analyze the relation between trading volume and 5% rule disclosure. The results show that the daily and abnormal trading volume is increased when 5% rule disclosure is released. Moreover, the trading volume is significantly increased during cooling period. Specifically, trading volume is significantly greater when one day before cooling period or the expiration day of cooling period. We also find the information effect of firms with stable ownership structure before 5% rule disclosure is relatively smaller than the firms with unstable ownership structure with unstable ownership structure. These results imply that capital market participants use the information from 5% rule disclosure and reflect in their real economic decision.

  • In this paper, the primitive and double combined motion classification of the arm is discussed using pattern recognition of EM signal. The EM signals are detected from Ag-Ag/Cl surface electrodes, and IBM PC, calculated the Likelyhood probability and the decision function on the feature space of integral absolute value. Multiclass decision rule is introduced for higher decision rate. On our experimental results from expert simulator, the decision rate of more than 78% can be obtained.

  • A recommendation system tracks past action of a group of users to make a recommendation to individual members of the group. The computer-mediated marking and commerce have grown rapidly nowadays so the concerns about various recommendation procedure are increasing. We introduce a recommendation methodology by which Korean department store suggests products and services to their customers. The suggested methodology is based on decision tree, product taxonomy, and association rule mining. Decision tree is to select target customers, who have high purchase possibility of recommended products. Product taxonomy and association rule mining are used to select proper products. The validity of our recommendation methodology is discussed with the analysis of a real Korean department store.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy decision making method for power transformer protection to identify an internal fault from other transient states such as inrush, over-excitation and an external fault with current transformer (CT) saturation. In this paper, analyzing over 300 EMTP simulations of disturbances, four input variables are selected and fuzzified. At every sampling interval from half to one cycle after a disturbance, from the EMPT simulations, different fuzzy rule base is composed of twelve if-then fuzzy rules associated with their basic probability assignments for singleton- or compound-support hypotheses. Dempster's rule of combination is used to process the fuzzy rules and get the final decision. A series of test results clearly indicate that the method can identify not only an internal fault but also the other transients. The average of relay operation times is about 12(ms). The proposed method is implemented into a Digital Signal Processor (TMS320C31) and tested.

  • This paper proposes the structure of an agent and rules for fault detection and location on LAN. To find out a reason of critical fault incurred LAN, collision detection rule, error detection rule, broadcast detection rule, system location rule, and Internet application location rule ar shown. Also, the structure of multi-agent system and state transition diagram is portrayed to have connectivity with he set of rules. To verify availability of proposed rules, the process to find a faulty system is shown by monitoring and analyzing the LAN fault occurrences from the proposed set of rules. Such an rule based agent system is helpful to an Internet manager to solve a reason of fault and make ad decision from gathering management information.
