스키에 의한 전방십자인대 손상에 대한 고찰 (The study of anterior cruciate ligament injury after a ski accident)

  • The ACL(Anterior cruciate ligament) is the smallest of the four main ligaments of the knee, but it is the primary stabilizer. Injuries have a tendency to occur when the foot is firmly planted and the knee is twisted. Any sports that requires acceleration, change of direction and deceleration can increase the chances of suffering an ACL tear. The incidence of severe knee sprains that involve the ACL are at an all-time high. Since 1980, the number of these injuries have increased at least three-fold. Although the rate of increase has been much less dramatic since the middle 1980s, even the ultra-modem releasable ski binding has not been able to start reducing the incidence of ACL injuries. An ACL injury prevention program developed for downhill skiers by the Vermont Safety Research group emphasized increasing awareness of situations that can potentially result in an ACL injury and pre-planning strategies if events, leading to these situations, begin to fall in place. As part of the above study by Ettlinger et al., an educational prevent program was developed to teach these principles and thus reduce the rate of serious knee injuries. Four thousand instructors and patrol at 20 ski resorts who received the training had a 62% decline in serious knee injuries compared to a similar group that did not receive this training. Whenever you fall, try not to fully straighten your legs. Don't try to get up until you've stopped sliding(unless you are try to avoid an obstacle or other skier). When you're down, stay down. And don't land on your hand. So, if you feel yourself falling: arms forward, ski plates together, hands over knee. Then you will be able to save your ACL.

상용차량의 브레이크 시스템과 차량 시스템 주파수 분석을 통한 브레이크 저더의 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on Brake Judder via the Frequency Analysis of the Brake System and Vehicle System of a Commercial Vehicle)

  • This paper studies experimentally on the building-up process for the amplitude of a commercial truck vibration induced by brake judder. A front axle drum equipped with a drum brake system is utilized for this experiment. A brake dynamo test, a real vehicle ride test and a real vehicle braking test are performed for the analysis of brake judder. The brake dynamo test measures judder by applying brake chamber pressures of 1, 2 and 3 bar at initial brake pad temperatures of $100^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$. In order to assess the vertical acceleration at the front axle, the real vehicle ride test on a straight test road with velocities of 20, 40, 60 and 80 km/h is performed. The real vehicle braking test is carried out at the deceleration rate of 0.2g from a velocity of 90km/h for evaluating the vertical, lateral and longitudinal accelerations both at the front axle and at the cab floor under the driver's seat. The magnitudes and frequencies of the measured peak accelerations from the brake dynamo test, the real vehicle ride test and the real vehicle braking test are comparatively analyzed. This paper shows that the vibration produced by brake judder is built up due to the brake system's peak acceleration frequency being close to the vehicle ride mode's frequency.

Autonomic and Frontal Electrocortical Responses That Differentiate Emotions elicited by the Affective Visual Stimulation

  • Cardiac, respiratory, electrodermal and frontal (F3, F4) EEG responses were analyzed and compared during to slides of International Affective Picture System (IAPS) in the study on 42 students. Physiological responses during 20s of exposure to slides intended to elicit happiness (nurturant and erotic), sadness, disgust, surprise, fear or anger emotions were quite similar and were expressed in heart rate (HR) deceleration, decreased HR variability (HRV), specific SCR, increased non-specific SCR frequency (N-SCR), and EEG changes exhibited in theta increase, alpha-blocking and increased beta activity, and frontal asymmetry. However, some emotions demonstrated variations of the response magnitudes, enabling to differentiate some paris of emotions by several physiological parameters. The profiles showed higher magnitudes of HRV and EEG responses in exciting (i.e., erotic) and higher cardiac and respiratory responses in surprise. The most different pairs were exciting-surprise (by HR, HRV, theta, and alpha asymmetry), exciting-sadness (by theta, alpha, and alpha asymmetry), and exciting-fear (by HRV, theta, F3 alpha, and alpha asymmetry). Nurturant happiness yielded the least differentiation. Differences were found as well within negative emotions, e.g., anger-sadness were differentiated by HRV and theta asymmetry, while disgust-fear by N-SCR and beta asymmetry. Obtained results suggest that magnitudes of profiles of physiological variables differentiate emotions evoked by affective pictures, despite that the patterns of most responses were featured by qualitative similarity in given passive viewing context.

실선시운전시험을 통한 예부선의 조종 특성 연구 (Maneuvering Characteristics of Tug-Barge from the Results of Sea Trial Test)

  • 예선이 부선을 선미예인하고 있는 상황에서의 예부선 조종특성을 확인하기 위하여, 예선 단독 실선시운전과 예부선 통합 실선시운전 시험을 수행하였다. 속력시험, 가감속시험, 10도 선회시험, 20도 선회시험, 10도 지그재그시험, 20도 지그재그시험을 통하여 다양한 상황에서의 예선과 부선의 운항 특성을 확인하였다. 그 결과, 부선이 선미예인되는 경우, 예선의 전술선회직경은 예선 단독운항일 때보다 증가하며, 선수동요각 변화율이 낮음을 확인하였고, 침로 변경을 함에 있어 부선의 선수동요각 변화가 늦고, 오버슈트각이 큰 것을 확인하였다. 또한 선회나 침로 변경 시, 부선의 선회궤적이 예선의 선회궤적 안쪽에도 존재할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 부선을 선미예인하는 운항자는, 선회 및 침로변경 시 예부선의 선회궤적, 예부선의 선수동요각 변화시간 및 오버슈트각이 증가하는 것을 충분히 인지하고 운항해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Cascade Extended Kalman Filter 기반의 차량동특성 및 도로종단경사 추정 (Vehicle Dynamics and Road Slope Estimation based on Cascade Extended Kalman Filter)

  • 차선유지 제어시스템, 적응식순항 제어시스템과 같은 첨단운전 지원시스템은 기본적으로 차량의 거동 정보를 기반으로 구동되지만, 최근 도로의 기하학적 정보를 추가적으로 활용하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히, 도로의 종단경사는 차량의 가감속 제어 및 항법알고리즘 구현에 있어 필수적인 정보로서 DGPS-RTK와 같은 고가의 장비로 직접 측정하는 방법과 디지털 맵에 저장된 속성정보를 활용하는 방식이 제안되고 있으나, 상용화 관점에서는 아직 많은 문제점이 존재한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 추가 센서의 장착없이 연속형 확장칼만필터를 활용하여 차량의 동특성과 도로종단경사를 효율적으로 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 도로종단경사를 포함하는 3자유도 차량동역학 모델과 차량의 내부 네트워크롤 통해 수집할 수 있는 차량의 상태정보를 기반으로 확장칼만필터를 설계하여 차량의 동특성과 도로종단경사를 추정한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 시뮬레이션과 실차실험을 통해 그 성능을 검증하였다.

Effect of Crosslinked β-cyclodextrin on Quality of Cholesterol-reduced Cream Cheese

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of different types of $\beta$-cyclodextrin ($\beta$-CD) treatments on chemical and sensory characteristics of cholesterol-reduced cream cheese. The cholesterol removal rates were 92.0% in cream cheese treated by powder $\beta$-CD, and 82.6% in cream cheese treated by crosslinked $\beta$-CD. Amounts of short-chain fatty acid and free amino acids were significantly lower in cream cheese made by crosslinked $\beta$-CD-treated milk, especially after 2 weeks storage, compared with those of no $\beta$-CD-treated control and cream cheese made by powder $\beta$-CD treated milk. Among rheological properties, cohesiveness was significantly higher, and gumminess in cream cheese made by crosslinked $\beta$-CD-treated milk was slightly lower than others. In sensory analysis, no difference was found in texture among treatments, while bitterness was lower in the early stage of storage, and overall quality was higher score, in cream cheese made by crosslinked $\beta$-CD-treated cream at 3 and 4 week storage, compared with those in control and powder $\beta$-CD-treated group. The present study indicated that crosslinked $\beta$-CD treatment resulted in an efficient cholesterol removal rate over 80% and a deceleration of ripening, which may provide a longer shelf life without significant adverse effects in chemical and sensory properties.

화물차량용 에어백 후부안전판 안전성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Safety Performance of the Rear Safety Guard with Air Bag for Truck)

  • Despite the movement of safe traffic by the Korean government to reduce deaths in traffic accidents, the casualties increase year by year. In particular, more and more accidents and casualties are reported from car collisions from the back of the vehicles parked for managing traffic accidents on the road, cleaning main roads and medial strips, repairing roads. In order to response to these accidents, the government should take protective measures for road users. In the last decade, seventy-one cases have been reported to occur during highway repair and maintenance. As a result, eight persons were killed and seventy-six were injured, showing the high death rate of 11.3 percent. Therefore, it seems urgent to take some actions against it. The United States and European countries legislate that vehicles of road repair and maintenance should be mandatorily equipped with shock absorber at the back. Korea, however, does not have such legislative measures, which are needed at this time to protect workers on the road. This study compares the performance of the traditional shock absorber for road maintenance vehicles with that of the rear safety guard using air bag, manufactured in accordance with related laws in Korea. Based on the results of the 60km/h rear collision test, this paper proposes improvements in related laws and regulations in an attempt to reduce casualties.

실시간 영상처리를 이용한 개별차량 추적시스템 개발 (Development of a Real Time Video Image Processing System for Vehicle Tracking)

  • 영상처리시스템(VIPS: Video Image Processing System)은 실시간으로 들어오는 영상정보를 분석하여 유용한 정보를 제공하며, 하나의 카메라로 여러 차로를 동시에 감시할 수 있는 알고리즘으로 교통량, 속도뿐만 아니라 밀도 및 점유율 등 다양한 정보를 제공한다. 영상검지시스템으로 상용화 제품은 Tripwire시스템으로 검지영역의 픽셀 변화량으로 차량검지를 하나, 이는 교통량, 속도 등 단편적인 정보에 국한될 수 밖에 없다. 반면, 영상검지시스템이 개별차량에 대한 추적시스템으로 개발할 경우 사고 및 차로 변경의 위험요소 감지 등 보다 다양한 정보를 제공할 수가 있다. 본 논문은 컴퓨터비전 기술을 이용하여 Tripwire에서 수집할 수 있는 교통정보와 동일한 정보를 제공하는 개별차량의 추적시스템을 개발하였으며 이 시스템을 실제 도로영상에 적용하여 상용화된 시스템과 결과를 비교함으로써 성능검증을 하였다.

미시적 주행행태를 반영한 후미추돌위험 평가모형 개발 (Development of the Risk Evaluation Model for Rear End Collision on the Basis of Microscopic Driving Behaviors)

  • 안전측면에서 교통류를 효율적으로 운영${\cdot}$관리하기 위해서는 교통류의 위험정도를 명확하게 판단할 수 있는 기준 및 모형개발이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 불완전한 추종으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 교통류 위험을 후미추돌위험의 관점에서 파악하였다. 과거 사고 예측 및 도로위험도 평가모형의 경우 운전자 반응을 고려하지 않았기 때문에, 모형의 신뢰성에 다소 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 한계 및 문제점을 극복하기 위해 사고발생 가능성이라는 개념을 도입함으로써 위험과 사고 사이에 존재하는 운전자 반응을 모형에 반영하였다. 즉, 추종이론 및 안정성 이론을 바탕으로 후미추돌과 관련된 미시적 변수 즉, 운전자의 반응시간과 감속도를 반영하여 운전자를 고려한 모형을 개발하였다. 위험도를 대표할 수 있는 지표 개발을 위해 소음영향평가에서 사용되는 척도를 활용하였으며, 상대적인 위험도 우위를 평가하기 위해 위험강도 및 지속시간을 고려한 ‘등가위험도’를 개발하였다. 서울시 도시고속도로를 대상으로 직접 실험${\cdot}$조사를 수행하였으며, 미시적 교통류 자료수집을 위해 직접 실험차량을 제작하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 구간별, 차로별, 교통상황별 위험도를 도출하였다. 모형에 의해 도출된 위험도를 해당구간에서 수집된 차로별 사고자료와 비교하여 본 결과, 교통상황 및 사고자료 패턴과 일치하는 결과를 보여주었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 모형은 안전진단 및 도로설계에서부터 첨단안전차량 제어알고리즘의 안전성평가에 이르기가지 다양한 분야에서 활용될 수 있다.

나일론과 양모/산성염료계에 대한 계면동전위적 연구 (Electrokinetic Studies on Nylon and Wool/Acid Dye System)

  • In past, dye diffusion and dyeing rate in fibers have been emphasized in dyeing phenomena. However, in the light of the properties of colloids in the surface of disperse phase and dispersion, there exist specific characters such as adsorption or electric double layer, which seems to play important roles in determining the physiochemical properties in the dyeing system. Electrostatic bonding, hydrogen bonding and Van der Waals adsorption are common in dyeing as well as covalent bonding. Particularly, electrostatic bonding is premised on the existance of ionic radicals in fibers. The present study was aimed to clarify the electrokinetic phenomena of dyeing through the role of electric double layer by ion in amphoteric fibers with different ionic effects under different pH. Spectrophotometric analysis method was used to compare dyeing condition of surface, which can be detected by electrokinetic phenomena and the inner of fibers after deceleration of dyed fibers. Nylon and wool, the typical amphoteric fibers were dyed with monoazo acid dyes such as C.I. Acid Orange 20, and C.I. Acid Orange 10. Various combinations were prepared by combining pH, temperature and dye concentration, in order to generate streaming electric potential which were measured by microvolt meter and specific conductivity meter. The results were transformed to zeta potential by Helmholtz-Smoluchowski formular and to surface electric charge density by Suzawa formular, surface dye amount, and effective surface area of fibers. The amount of dyes of inner fibers were also measured by the Lambert-Beer’s law. The main results obtained are as follows. 1. By measuring zeta pontential, it was possible to detect the dyeing mechanism, surface charge density, surface dye amount and effective surface area concerning dye adsorption of the amphoteric fibers. 2. Zeta pontential increases in negative at low pH and high dye concentration in the process of dyeing. This implied that there existed ionic bond formation in the dyeing mechanism between acid dyes and amphoteric fibers. 3. Dibasic acid dye had little changing rate in zeta potential due to the difference in solubility of dye and in number of dissociated ions per dye molecule to bond with amino radicals of amphoteric fibers. The dye adsorption of mono basic acid dye was higher than that of dibasic acid dye. 4. The effective surface areas concerning dyeing were $6.3E+05\;cm^2/g$ in nylon, $1.6E+07\;cm^2/g$ in wool fiber being higher order of wool then nylon.
