  • Eu2+ doped polyphosphate NaSr(PO3)3 blue-emitting phosphors were synthesized by the conventional solid state method in a reductive atmosphere. The phase formation of NaSr(PO3)3 phosphors were characterized by using the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurement. The photoluminescence emission and excitation spectra of the NaSr(PO3)3:Eu2+ phosphor, and decay curves were measured. Under the near-UV excitation, the phosphor exhibits a band emission around 420 nm assigned to the 4f65d→f7(8S7/2) transition of Eu2+. The temperature dependent emission spectra and decay curves were measured to elevate the thermal properties of the Eu2+ doped phosphors. The as-prepared NaSr(PO3)3:Eu2+ phosphors show a strong temperature dependent performance, which can serve as a promising temperature sensor.

  • In this paper, we aimed to convert the fire curve in volume units to a fire curve per unit area for application in the Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) surface heat release rate method. The fire curve was expressed dimensionlessly considering the total combustion characteristic time, and improvements were made to represent the appropriate ratios for the growth , steady, and decay phases concerning the fire intensity. Additionally, a correction function for combustion characteristic time varying with mass increase was derived. Also to control the growth time values according to the increase in mass, a function to correct the growth phase ratio was derived. Consequently, utilizing existing data, a formula was established to determine the reference mass for combustion materials and predict the fire curve based on mass increase.

  • Enormous interest in trivalent rare-earth (RE) ions activated luminescent materials has been gaining owing to their promising applications in bio-imaging, solar cells, white light-emitting diodes and field-emission displays. Among these trivalent RE ions, dysprosium (Dy3+) was widely investigated due to its unique photoluminescence (PL) emissions. A series of Dy3+-activated CaWO4 phosphors were prepared by a facile high-temperature solid-state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction, PL spectra, cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra as well as PL decay curves were used to characterize the prepared samples. Under ultraviolet light excitation, the characteristic emissions of Dy3+ ions were observed in all the obtained phosphors. Furthermore, the PL emission intensity increased gradually with the increment of Dy3+ ion concentration, reaching its maximum value at an optimized Dy3+ ion concentration. Additionally, color-tunable emissions were obtained in Dy3+-activated CaWO4 system by adjusting the Dy3+ ion concentration and excitation wavelength. Ultimately, strong CL properties were observed in Dy3+-activted CaWO4 phosphors. These results suggested that the Dy3+-activted CaWO4 phosphors may have potential applications in the field of miniature color displays.

  • Relaxation phenomena of the electro-optic coefficient in ferroelectric copolymer P (VDF- TrFE) were studied. The electro-optic coefficient of copolymers was measured by simple reflection method and the decay curves were fitted by KWW stretched exponentials. The copolymers poled near Tc. Were shown to be more stable than the copolymer poled at lower temperatures. Further, the relaxation time t depending on temperature was found to follow Arrhenius behavior and it was found that the activation energy of 50/50 mol% P (VDF-TrFE) copolymer is larger than that of 72/28 mol% copolymer. As a result, the ferroelectric copolymer with VDF of 50 mol% is was more stable.stable.

  • Photocurrent spectrum, photoresponse, and I-V measurements were made for close-packed HgTe nanoparticles without organic capping materials to investigate their photocurrent characteristics in the infrared range. In absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectra taken for the close-packed nanoparticles film, the wavelengths of exciton peaks was red-shifted, compared with organic capped HgTe nanoparticles dispersed in solution. This red-shift is caused by the lessening of the exciton binding energy. The I-V curves and photoresponse for the close-packed nanoparticles film reveal their dark current and fast photoresponse with no current decay, respectively. The observation suggests that the HgTe nanoparticles are a very prospect material applicable for photodetectors in the whole IR range.

  • The complex nature of low flow transport and tranformation of nonconservative pollutants in natural streams with pools and riffles has been investigated using a numerical solution of a proposed mathematical model that is based on a set of mass balance equations describing hydrodynamic processes (advection, dispersion, and mass exchange mechanicms in streams and in storage zones) and chemical processes (reaction or decay). In this study, a mathematical model (named "Storage-Transformation Model") has been developed to predict adequately the non-Fickian nature of mixing and transformation mechanisms for decaying substances in natural streams under low flow conditions. Comparisons between the concentration-time curves predicted usingthe proposed model and the measured stream data shows that the Storage-Transformation Model yields better agreements in the goneral shape, peak concentration and time to peak than the 1-D dispersion model. The result of this study also demonstrates the differences between transport in pool-and-riffle streams versus transport in more uniform channels. The proposed model shows significant improvement over the conventional 1-D disperision model in predicting natural mixing and stroage processes in streams through pools and riffles.

  • Changes in accumulated pulsed photostimulated luminescene (PPSL) signals were observed after storage, which affected the ability to detect irradiation in black and white peppers. The PPSL curves were accumulated linearly during the 120 s measurement times, and PPSL signals increased according to irradiation doses. Threshold levels of black and white peppers were below 557$\pm$220 and 503$\pm$92 photon counts in 60 s, and below 679$\pm$351 and 812 $\pm$ 648 photon counts in 120 s, respectively. The PPSL signals of black and white peppers linearly increased with irradiation dose up to 5 kGy, but very little from 5~10 kCy. The accumulated PPSL signals of irradiated black and white peppers had higher decay rates when stored in normal room conditions than in a darkroom Detection of irradiation was possible for up to 12 months after irradiation, if the samples were stored in a darkroom.

  • Single-phase yellow phosphor, $CaGd_{2-x}ZrSc(AlO_4)_3:xCe^{3+}$ ($CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$), possessing cubic symmetry with varied $Ce^{3+}$ concentrations, was synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), excitation spectra, emission spectra, thermal quenching, and decay curves. The cubic phase of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor was confirmed via XRD analysis. The photoluminescence spectra of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor demonstrated that the phosphor could be excited at the wavelength of 440 nm; a broad yellow emission band was centered at 541 nm. These results indicate that the phosphors are adequately excited by blue light and have the potential to function as yellow-emitting phosphors for applications in white light-emitting diodes.

  • We investigated the nonradiative energy transfer process from Rhodamine 6G to Malachite Green in ethylen glycol solvent using time correlated single photon counting system equipped with a modelocked Ar ' laser. The reduced concentration and critical transfer distance for various acceptor concentration were obtained by using a full-fitting analysis of the fluorescence decay curves. We found that Huber model is more suitable than Forster model and the influence of energy migration through the dipole-dipole interaction becomes more significant for the low acceptor concentrations relative to the donor concentration($5\times 10^4$mol/l).

  • We report the optical follow-up observations of three long γ-ray burst events, GRB 201020A, GRB 201103B and GRB 210104A by the network of telescopes in the SomangNet project. We show light curves, color evolution and SED evolution, and fit them to a single power law function to derive decay index and compare their properties with other long GRBs samples. Also, we show a good observational example that 0.4-1m class telescopes in SomangNet have potential to catch dim light from high red shift object (R>22 mag) by deep imaging. In conclusion, we found that three GRBs have optical afterglow properties of long GRB and our results are consistent with the reports of high energy analysis.
