The study reveals the extent of changes in selective financial numbers caused by fixed asset revaluation (FAR) and explores whether there was a management motive for playing the financial numbers game through using the FAR model. The data set consists of a sample of 142 listed companies purposively selected from 13 industries. The study found a significant impact of FAR on the net asset value (NAV), fixed asset intensity (FAI), and debt-to-equity ratio (DER). These findings are supported by the political cost and the debt covenant hypotheses. The study also observed a high growth of fixed assets by 9.5% to 14,603.8% resulting from FAR. More revealing is that FAR increased NAV in revaluer companies by an average of 427.20% as compared to 6.86% in non-revaluer companies. Even some companies with negative NAV took resort on FAR to show positive NAV. Besides, revaluer companies managed to reduce their DER by 70.45% as opposed to an increase of 8.45% in non-revaluer companies. Hence, the study concludes that most of the publicly-listed companies are involved in financial numbers game by the use of the FAR model. To build confidence among investors, companies should practice FAR rightly and disclose related information to help reduce information asymmetry.

The aim of this article is to determine the influence of factors on the capital structure of construction companies listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange. The data of the article were collected and calculated from the financial statements of 54 construction companies listed on Hanoi Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2019. With the application of E-view software in quantitative analysis to build panel data regression model (panel data), the article has built a regression model to determine the relationship of intrinsic factors affecting the capital structure of construction companies listed on Hanoi Stock Exchange. In the study, dependent variable is capital structure, determined by the debt-to-equity ratio. Profitability, coefficient of solvency, size, loan interest rate, structure of tangible assets, and growth are independent variables. The results showed that the two factors of growth and firm size positively affect the capital structure, the profitability factor has the opposite effect on capital structure. Factors of short-term debt solvency, average loan interest rate and tangible asset structure have no correlation with capital structure. The findings of this article are useful for business administrators, helping business managers make the right financial decisions to make capital structure decisions in their own conditions.

The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of growth opportunities on capital structure and dividend policy in Indonesia. The study employs panel data of companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange that distribute dividends from 2007 to 2017. Fixed and random effect regression models are used. Findings based on growth opportunities on capital structure and dividend policy in Indonesia are in line with the existing theory (i.e., contracting theory). Growth opportunities have a significant negative correlation with debt ratio and dividend yield, which suggests that firms with high growth opportunities are discouraged to generate debt to resolve underinvestment and asset-substitution problem. Firms with more investment opportunities tend to adopt a low dividend payout policy because the cash flows will be used up for investment. The positive impact of firm size on leverage is due to the low bankruptcy risk and cost of a large company. Profitability has a positive impact on the dividend policy because profitable companies can reserve larger free cash flows and, thus, pay higher dividends. The positive influence of ownership on leverage is interpreted by the unwillingness of majority stockholders to commit to equity financing in order to avoid reducing the ownership and preserve control of the company.

The paper attempts to investigate the optimal capital structure of Vietnamese listed firms based on a structural approach. Using the data from around 70 companies in the Consumer Staples sector listed on the Vietnamese Stock Exchange during the period 2018-2020, this study finds that the optimal capital structure of examined companies has a wide range of diversification. This can be explained by the various types of actual products for each typical firm within the chosen sector. The result also confirms that a large proportion of researched firms were actually overleveraged, which is consistent with the trade-off hypothesis that firms wish to take tax advantages while using more debt, which creates the benefits from tax-shield. Furthermore, the research highlights the reversed correlation, which suggests that the lower the company's risk (the lower the sigma of the assets), the greater the optimal capital structure is suggested. Another interesting finding is that almost all consumer staples companies have a better optimal capital structure under the Leland and Toft (1996) model than under the Leland (1994) model. Furthermore, there is a strong correlation of optimal financial leverage ratio between years. In other words, the optimal debt levels of the latter year are strongly dependent on the gearing levels of the previous years.

The article analyzes the impact of capital structure on the firm value of chemical companies listed on the stock market of Vietnam. Data was collected from the financial statements of 23 chemical firms listed on the Vietnam stock market from 2012 to 2019. Quantitative research method with regression model according to OLS, FEM, REM method is used; FGLS method is used to overcome the model's defects. In this research, firm value (Tobin's Q) is a dependent variable. Capital structure (DA), Return on assets (ROA), Asset turnover (AT), fixed assets (TANG), Solvency (CR), Firm size (SZ), Firm Age (AGE), and revenue growth rate (GR) are independent variables in the study. The analysis results show that the capital structure of firms in the chemical industry listed on the Vietnam stock market has an inverse correlation with firm value. Besides, firms with greater asset turnover, business size, and number of years of operation have lower firm value. This article helps corporate executives improve corporate value by adjusting their capital structure properly. Chemical firms adjusted their capital structure in the direction of gradually decreasing the debt ratio and gradually increasing equity. Firms use high debt, which has the effect of reducing the firm value of firms in the chemical industry.

This study examines the effect of international capital flows on corporate capital structures in Vietnam by analyzing panel data from all non-financial listed firms from 2005 to 2014 using pooled ordinary least square (OLS) with a variance estimator. The analysis includes a comparison of the signs and significance of the variable coefficients from the perking order and static trade-off theories to the empirical results to determine the optimum approach to the corporate capital structure given Vietnam's high-inflation environment. The results indicate that international capital flows have a positive relation to the debt ratio in the long term, and the relationship is more robust for 2005-2009 than for 2010-2014. Corporate capital structures adjusted to changes in the business environment in different sub-periods (2005-2009 and 2010-2014). When the economic environment became more favorable, the pecking order theory's predictive power increased, and that of trade-off theory lessened. Manufacturing and non-manufacturing firms required different capital structure decisions to fuel their operations and grow under foreign competition. The analysis demonstrates that firms should intensify their use of long-term debt relative to the availability of capital, which is an implication not only for firms in particular but also for industrial innovation overall.

The purpose of this study is to propose policy implications for improving the efficiency of corporate income tax management in Vietnam, by analyzing the study factors affecting the efficiency of corporate income tax management (evidence from Mekong Delta provinces, Vietnam). This study used a primary data collection method and collected data of 329 enterprises, including 49 joint-stock companies and 280 limited liability companies in 3 provinces - Tra Vinh province, Soc Trang province, and Ben Tre province. By using the binary regression method, the author discovered eight factors affecting the efficiency of corporate income tax management in the Mekong Delta region such as the time of operation of the enterprises, type of business, gender, business results, tax amount temporarily paid, compliance with tax policies, business scale, and tax debt ratio. From the above research results, the author proposes policies to support Tax Departments to improve the efficiency of corporate income tax management in the Mekong Delta region in the future. These policies include - for further promoting the tax policy propaganda to enterprises, tax authorities need to promptly handle tax arrears, enhance the inspection of tax debt enterprises, and focus on the business models, gender, age of the business owners, etc.
This paper investigates the relation of invert U-shape between the M/B ratio and leverage ratio by market, firm size, and a level of technology of firm. Our sample consists of 510 manufacturing firms continually listed on the Korea Securities Market and Kosdaq Market from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2008. The total sample consists of the Korea Securities Market(large firms, high technology industry) sample of 2,248(1,816, 1,704) observations and the Kosdaq Market(small and medium firms, high technology industry) sample of 1,632(2,264, 2,376) observations. The empirical results show that the relation of invert U shape appears on the sample of the Kosdaq Market, small and medium firms, and high technology industry. However, the relation doesn't appear on the sample of the Korea Securities Market, large firms, and low technology industry. These mutually different results may be caused by the relatively low M/B ratio of the latter.
This paper analyzes business performance that together influence firms to adopt IMS, which is the standard primarily concerned with an IMS. We predict that the firm's financial characteristics will also influence the IMS adoption in our analses. This study tests three hypotheses on management performance of adoption of IMS. The main findings are as follows. The first hypotheses is supported in terms of debt ratio, fixed assets to net worth and fixed liabilities, net sales groth rate respectively at the 1%, 5%, and 5% significance level. The second hypotheses is supportrf in terms of gross margin on sales and total assets turnover at the respective rates of 1% and 10% significance level. The third hypotheses is supported in terms of current ratio, debt ratiom fixed assets to net worth and fixed liabilities at the respective rates of 10% and 1% significance level.

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the change in CP class of a firm on the abnormal yield of its stock price. As a result, it was found that the change in CP class of a firm had an effect on the abnormal yield. That is. the abnormal yield rose when the class of CP rose while it dropped when the class of CP dropped. And it was analyzed that the class of CP in the firm in which its current net gain was great while it dropped in the firm in which the current net gain was small. And it was found that the CP class of the firm with the high debt to equity ratio rose when the CP class of the firm changed, whereas it rose in the firm with the low debt to equity ratio. But it was found that the size of majority shareholders equity rate in a firm, the size of corporate value of the firm, the size of cash flow of the firm and the size of the burden of financial costs of the firm were not related to the abnormal yield of its stock price. This study has its significance in analyzing the effect of the information on the change in CP class of the firm on the capital market. But it has its limitations in the sample firm and the selection of the point in time of disclosure.
