An IR(information retrieval) index for dynamic document databases where insertion, deletion, and update of documents happen frequently should be frequently updated. As the conventional structure of IR index is, however, focused on the information retrieval purpose, its structure is inefficient to handle dynamic update of it. In this paper, we propose a new structure for IR Index, we call it Index Graph, which is organized by connecting multiple indexes into a graph structure. By analysis and experiment, we prove the Index Graph is superior to the conventional structure of IR index in the performance of insertion, deletion, and update of documents as well as the performance of information retrieval.

Recently, retrieval of various video data has become an important issue as more and more multimedia content services are being provided. To effectively deal with video data, a semantic-based retrieval scheme that allows for processing diverse user queries and saving them on the database is required. In this regard, this paper proposes a semantic-based video retrieval system that allows the user to search diverse meanings of video data for electrical safety-related educational purposes by means of automatic annotation processing. If the user inputs a keyword to search video data for electrical safety-related educational purposes, the mobile agent of the proposed system extracts the features of the video data that are afterwards learned in a continuous manner, and detailed information on electrical safety education is saved on the database. The proposed system is designed to enhance video data retrieval efficiency for electrical safety-related educational purposes.

본 연구에서는 국내 초고층 건물 사례들을 바탕으로 사례 데이터베이스를 구축하여 구조시스템 대안 생성 및 선정 업무를 효율적으로 처리 할 수 있는 설계지원시스템을 개발하였으며, 사례 데이터베이스의 정보를 이용한 사례기반추론기법을 제안하였다. 국내 47개 초고층 건물에 대한 사례 데이터베이스의 설계정보를 분석하여 초기설계 단계에서 구조시스템 선정을 위한 귀납적 조회 모듈 및 유사사례선정을 위한 최근린 조회기법도 제시하였다.

본 논문에서는 동영상 압축 부호화에 대한 표준안인 MPEG 기반의 압축 비디오 스트림으로부터 DCT DC 계수를 추출하구 이들로 구성된 DE 영상으로부터 장면 전환 검출을 수행한 후 대표 프레임을 추출한다. 또한 추출된 대표 프레임을 PCA(Principal Component Analysis) 방법을 이용하여 데이터베이스의 색인 정보로 저장한 후 입력된 질의 영상과 가장 유사한 대표 영상들을 검색하는 방법에 대해 제안한다. 즉, 추출된 대표 프레임에 대해 주성분해석 기법을 적용하여 통계적인 특성을 가진 데이터를 특징으로 추출함으로써 코드워드의 수에 따른 코드북을 생성하고 이를 데이터베이스의 색인 정보로 저장한다. 실험 결과 제안된 방법이 검색에 있어 우수한 성능을 나타내고 또한 통계적인 데이터의 특성을 이용하기 때문에 처리 시간과 상당한 양의 메모리 공간을 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다.

공간적인 자료구조를 기반으로 하는 공간 데이터베이스에서는 일차원 색인구조와는 달리 공간객체들의 다차원적인 특성에 부합되는 새로운 색인구조가 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 요구사항을 충족시키기 위하여 기존 다차원 색인구조들의 특징 분석을 통하여 공간 데이터베이스의 효율적인 검색을 위한 새로운 색인구조를 제안하였다. 기존 X-트리에서 슈퍼노드의 순차적인 검색방법의 개선과 방대한 슈퍼노드가 생성되는 경우에도 검색시간의 단축이 가능하도록 하기 위하여, 포인트 색인구조를 갖는 kd-트리를 X-트리에 병합시킨 색인구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 색인구조를 실제로 구현하여 실험 데이터의 차원과 분포에 따라 검색시간을 분석하였다.

The aim of this study is to examine the user's online searching behavior in IR interfaces of e-journal database systems. The study is purely based on survey methods and tries to analyse the online searching behavior of respondents of social science disciplines who were doing research in three target central universities of Delhi (i.e. DU, JMI, and JNU). For measuring the responses of the respondents in IR interfaces of e-journal database systems, a total of 396 questionnaires were distributed among the students and out of all, 305 responses were used for the study. The findings of the study reveal that most of the students were not using all the facilities offered in IR interfaces of e-journal database systems for their retrieval process and also encourages menu based searches rather than command based searching.

It is important to retrieve information that a user requires on the web. The web is an open system. The amount of information is increasing rapidly. While each of information was compiled into the database piece at a single platform in the past, it is now compiled into complicated structure at a multi-platform. Restructuring the multi-platform database is needed to efficiently retrieve information. MIRAS(Meta Information Retrieval Agent System) has a multi-platform database on web. This study applies the classification of the existent site's categories to restructure the database systematically. The empirical analysis shows that the suggested method is effective for information retrieval and multi-platform database restructuring. This study helps users to save on time-cost of searching information.

비디오데이터를 효율적으로 처리하기 위해서는 비디오 데이터가 가지고 있는 내용에 대한 정보를 데이터베이스에 저장하고 사용자들의 다양한 질의를 처리할 수 있는 의미검색기법이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 특징 기반 검색과 주석 기반 검색을 통합하여 다양한 사용자의 의미검색을 지원하고, 유사성 질의와, SQBE(scene query by example) 질의가 가능한 비디오 검색시스템(Video Retrieval System : VRS)을 제안한다. 사용자는 SQBE 질의를 통해 장면의 검색 결과로 제시된 장면을 기반으로 객체의 추가 삭제를 통해 사용자가 원하는 좀 더 정확한 장면의 검색이 가능하다. 또한 SQBE질의를 위한 질의언어와 이 질의를 처리하기 위한 질의처리알고리즘을 제안하고 장면과 객체의 유사성 검색에 대한 성능평가를 수행했다. 제안된 시스템은 Visual C++과 Oracle을 이용하여 구현되었다.

ISTI는 국내에서 발간되는 과학기술 학술논문을 가공해서 데이터베이스로 구축, 제공하고 있으며 그 규모는 2010년에 100만건을 넘어서고 있다. 규모가 늘어남에 따라 체계적인 주제 분류 등 검색의 효율화를 위한 부가적인 가공이 필요하다. 전통적으로 정보를 가공하는 방법으로 초록화, 분류, 색인, 추록화 등을 혼용하여 사용하고 있다. 이 가운데 색인과 분류는 특히 정보 검색에 유용한 도구로 활용되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 기 구축된 과학기술문헌 데이터베이스에 분류 코드와 색인어를 부여하여 검색효율을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 제안한다.

본 논문에서는 사용자와 시스템의 DB, 이미지데이터 및 언어적인 지식표현을 통해 구축된 지식기반 데이터베이스(KDB)와의 인터페이스 역할을 위한 협조적인 검색시스템을 구축하였다. 기존의 데이터베이스 검색시스템은 사용자의 요구에 정확히 일치하는 데이터가 시스템 내에 존재할 경우에만 해당 데이터를 제공하지만 그렇지 않은 경우에는 아무런 데이터도 제공할 수 없다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 사용자의 요구에 일치하는 데이터가 데이터베이스 내에 존재할 때 인터페이스를 통해 해당 데이터를 제공하고, 만일 사용자의 요구에 일치하는 데이터가 존재하지 않을 경우에는 퍼지 클러스터링과 언어 레이블의 할당을 통한 지식기반 데이터베이스를 구축하여 사용사의 요구에 가장 근접한 데이터 및 이미지정보를 제시하도록 하였다.
