This paper presents an equalizer reducing CCI(cell-to-cell interference) in MLC NAND flash memory. High growth of the flash memory market has been driven by two combined technological efforts that are an aggressive scaling technique which doubles the memory density every year and the introduction of MLC(multi level cell) technology. Therefore, the CCI is a critical factor which affects occurring data errors in cells. We introduced an equation of CCI model and designed an equalizer reducing CCI based on the proposed equation. In the model, we have been considered the floating gate capacitance coupling effect, the direct field effect, and programming methods of the MLC NAND flash memory. Also we design and verify the proposed equalizer using Matlab. As the simulation result, the error correction ratio of the equalizer shows about 20% under 20nm NAND process where the memory channel model has serious CCI.

A graphic control language using function block diagram approach is designed and implemented, applicable to real-time control for continuous process automation system. The procedure implementing the control language is composed of three parts, editor, compiler, and executer. The editor generates the control algorithm file, which contains function block information in the text form, by menu-driven method on the color graphic screen. The compiler translates the contents of the control algorithm file to machine codes and their related data. Then, the executer generates a task that makes the machine codes executed at every sampling period in the target processor. The validity of the concept in its design and implementaion is assured by on-line simulation in the multi-function controller designed for continuous process automation.
The effect of longitudinal thin rectangular riblets aligned with the flow direction on turbulent channel flow has been investigated using direct numerical simulation. The thin riblets have been modeled using the immersed boundary method (IBM) where the velocities at only one set of vertical nodes at the riblets positions are enforced to be zeros. Different spacings, ranging between 11 and 43 wall units, have been simulated aiming at getting the optimum spacing corresponding to the maximum drag reduction while keeping the height/spacing ratio at 0.5. Reynolds number based on the friction velocity ${\mu}_\tau$ and the channel half depth $\delta$ is set to 150. The flow is driven by adjusted pressure gradient so that the mass flow rate is kept constant in all the simulations. This study shows similar trend of the drag ratio to that of the experiments at the different spacings. Also, this research provides an optimum spacing of around 17 wall units leading to maximum drag reduction as experimental data. Explanation of drag increasing/decreasing mechanism is highlighted.

value prediction in high performance micro processors is a technique that exploits Instruction Level Parallelism(ILP) by predicting the outcome of an instruction and by breaking and executing true data dependences. In this paper, the mean Performance improvements by predictor according to a point of time for update of each table as well as prediction accuracy and Prediction rate are measured and assessed by comparison and analysis of value predictor that issues in parallel and run by predicting value, which is for Performance improvements of ILP in micro Processor. For the verification of its validity the SPECint95 benchmark through the simulation is compared by making use of execution driven system.
Due to an explosive growth in services running in different datacenters, there is need for service selection and routing to deliver user requests to the best service instance. In current solutions, it is generally the client that must first select a datacenter to forward the request to before an internal load-balancer of the selected datacenter can select the optimal instance. An optimal selection requires knowledge of both network and server characteristics, making clients less suitable to make this decision. Information-Centric Networking (ICN) research solved a similar selection problem for static data retrieval by integrating content delivery as a native network feature. We address the selection problem for services by extending the ICN-principles for services. In this paper we present Queue and Latency, a network-driven service selection algorithm which maps user demand to service instances, taking into account both network and server metrics. To reduce the size of service router forwarding tables, we present a statistical method to approximate an optimal load distribution with minimized router state required. Simulation results show that our statistical routing approach approximates the average system response time of source-based routing with minimized state in forwarding tables.
In a situation where competition becomes intense, health care organizations constantly strive to provide more services with given personnel and time. While not only the 'quantity' of the services but also the 'quality' becomes increasingly important, various problems that can occur during the 'process' of service provision can be effectively managed by applying the methods of management science. In this study, we introduce the cases where the methods of management science can be applied for the management of health care organizations in Korea and abroad. There are many cases where various scenarios for improving the patients' accessibility to the services and for maximizing the efficient use of limited resources are established, and simulation or basic statistical analysis methods are used to solve the problems more systematically or to develop improvement plans. In this study, several exemplary cases, such as no-show of patients, crowding in the emergency room, prediction of the number of available beds in the intensive care units, nurse scheduling, delay of arrival of patients, and ordering of the proper amount of therapeutic materials, are introduced and discussed. From the perspective of administrators or clinicians, however, it may not be easy to master the methodology that requires considerable mathematical background or apply the theories to practice directly. Therefore, it is suggested that more practical and relatively simple analytical methods should be applied. Also, having a more positive attitude toward improving the current performance (e.g., a belief that 'we can always be better than now'), and paying attention to improving the job satisfaction by addressing problems, with experimental spirit and data-driven decision management.
In this paper, we present a mathematical model of the piezoelectric pump and its application to the automobile brake system. The piezoelectric pump consists of a multi-layered piezoelectric element a diaphragm, pumping values, resonant pipes and accumulators, and the maximum pumping power of 62W nab obtained in the previous experiments by using the piezoelectric element of 22mm diameter and 55.5mm length. A detailed mathematical model of the pump is derived here by considering the compressibility of the working oil, nonlinear characteristics of piezoelectric element, the time delay of pumping values' action and be on. The validity of the model is illustrated by comparing the experimental data and the simulation results. Using the mathematical model of the piezoelectric pump, a brake system for automobile disk brake is also simulated in this paper. The brake system consists of a piezoelectric pump as a power source, calipers and its piston to generate brake force, and a three position solenoid value to change the brake situation. It is shown that 15mm/sec of piston speed and 20kN of piston force are obtained by using the piezoelectric element of 33mm diameter and 55.5mm length.

A line profile synthesis method is presented that minimizes the nearest-neighbor crosstalk peak level for high-speed pulse transmission in multi-coupled microstrip signal buses. We adopted the optimization technique for the reflected wave control on bus lines resulting in increasing the average spacing between strip conductors, since in a parallel-conductor bus the crosstalk energy is concentrated at the nearest neighbors of the driven line. The generalized S-matrix technique is applied for the input and output waveform prediction, and crosstalk characteristics of various nonuniform lines synthesized for increasing the average spacing are analyzed by comparing each other. Simulation results demonstrate that the Chebyshev taper with dips is adequate to significantly minimize the crosstalk peak level under the satisfactory waveform integrity since the profile is oriented to evenly reflect significant pulse spectra within the frequency range of pulse.

Penetration problems in geomechanics are common. Usually the soil is heavily disturbed around the penetrating bodies and large deformations and distortions can occur. The simulation of the installation of displacement piles is a good example of the interest of these types of problems for geomechanics. In this paper the Material Point Method is used to overcome the difficulties associated with the simulations of problems involving large deformation and full displacement type penetration. Recent modifications of the Material Point Method known as Generalized Interpolation Material Point and the Convected Particle Domain Interpolation are also used and evaluated in some of the examples. Herein a footing submitted to large settlements is presented and simulated, together with the processes associated to a driven pile under undrained conditions. The displacements of the soil surrounding the pile are compared with those obtained by the Small Strain Path Method. In addition, the Modified Cam Clay model is implemented in a code of MPM and used to simulate the process of driving a pile in dry sand. Good and rather encouraging agreement is found between compared data.

Non-synoptic winds generated by tornadoes, downbursts or gust fronts exhibit significant non-stationarity and can cause significant wind load effect on flexible structures such as long-span bridges. However, conventional assumptions on stationarity used to evaluate the structural wind-induced vibration are inadequate. In this paper, an efficient frequency domain scheme based on fast CQC method, which can predict non-stationary buffeting random responses of long-span bridges, is presented, and then this approach is applied to evaluate the buffeting response of a long-span suspension bridge located in a complex mountainous wind environment as an example. In this study, the data-driven method based on one available measured wind speed sample is firstly presented to establish non-stationary wind models, including time-varying mean wind speed, time-varying intensity envelope function and uniformly modulated fluctuating spectrum. Then, a linear time-variant (LTV) system based on the proposed scheme can be generally applied to calculate the non-stationary buffeting responses. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed scheme are verified through Monte Carlo time domain simulation implemented in ANSYS platform. Also, the transient effect nature of the bridge responses is further illustrated by comparison of the non-stationary, quasistationary and steady-state cases. Finally, buffeting response analysis with traditional stationary treatment (10 min constant mean plus stationary wind fluctuation) is performed to illustrate the importance of the non-stationary characteristics embedded in original wind speed samples.
