Data Mining for High Dimensional Data in Drug Discovery and Development

  • Data mining differs primarily from traditional data analysis on an important dimension, namely the scale of the data. That is the reason why not only statistical but also computer science principles are needed to extract information from large data sets. In this paper we briefly review data mining, its characteristics, typical data mining algorithms, and potential and ongoing applications of data mining at biopharmaceutical industries. The distinguishing characteristics of data mining lie in its understandability, scalability, its problem driven nature, and its analysis of retrospective or observational data in contrast to experimentally designed data. At a high level one can identify three types of problems for which data mining is useful: description, prediction and search. Brief review of data mining algorithms include decision trees and rules, nonlinear classification methods, memory-based methods, model-based clustering, and graphical dependency models. Application areas covered are discovery compound libraries, clinical trial and disease management data, genomics and proteomics, structural databases for candidate drug compounds, and other applications of pharmaceutical relevance.

IMAGE DATA CHAIN ANALYSIS FOR SATELLITE CAMERA ELECTRONIC SYSTEM

  • In the satellite camera, the incoming light source is converted to electronic analog signals by the electronic component for example CCD (Charge Coupled Device) detectors. The analog signals are amplified, biased and converted into digital signals (pixel data stream) in the video processor (A/Ds). The outputs of the A/Ds are digitally multiplexed and driven out using differential line drivers (two pairs of wires) for cross strap requirement. The MSC (Multi-Spectral Camera) in the KOMPSAT-2 which is a LEO spacecraft will be used to generate observation imagery data in two main channels. The MSC is to obtain data for high-resolution images by converting incoming light from the earth into digital stream of pixel data. The video data outputs are then MUXd, converted to 8 bit bytes, serialized and transmitted to the NUC (Non-Uniformity Correction) module by the Hotlink data transmitter. In this paper, the video data streams, the video data format, and the image data processing routine for satellite camera are described in terms of satellite camera control hardware. The advanced satellite with very high resolution requires faster and more complex image data chain than this algorithm. So, the effective change of the used image data chain and the fast video data transmission method are discussed in this paper

  • Data, by itself, will not reveal the optimal policy choice. Nor will data alone tell us what problems to focus on or how to direct resources. It should be recognized upfront that data-driven policy making cannot provide all the answers to the challenges of good governance. Policy decisions always depend on a combination of facts, analysis, judgment, and values. In this paper, we research on factors to design an organizational policy making for Big Data.

However, there is a need to investigate the role of data visualization in human resource management. This review aims to highlight the power of data visualization in the field of human resources. In addition, visualize the latest trends in the research area of human resource and data visualization by conducting a quantitative method for analysis. The study adopted a literature review on recent publications from 2017 to 2022 to address research questions.

일 지역 중.고등학생의 흡연, 음주와 안전생활 실천 (Smoking, Drinking and Safety Behavior Practices in Middle and High School Students)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship between smoking, drinking and safety behavior in middle and high school students in one Korean province, North Cholla. Method: The study sample included 1,327 randomly selected middle and high school students from S-Gun area in Chonbuk Province. The data were collected using an anonymous questionnaire developed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (2005). The data were analyzed using the SPSSWIN 15.0 program. Results: The smoking rate in the middle and high school students was 6.9%, and the drinking rate was 24.9%. The rate for seatbelt use was 49.3%, for drunk driving, 8.8%, and for riding in car driven by a drunk driver, 24.0%. The rates for seatbelt use, for drunk driving, and for riding in a drunk driver were higher in smokers and drinkers than in non-smokers and non-drinkers(p<.05). Conclusion: The smoking and drinking status of the adolescents was correlated with their safety behavior practices as they relate to seatbelt use, drunk driving, and for riding in car driven by a drunk driver. Therefore, an elementary school level program to curb student smoking and alcohol consumption is needed to prevent smoking and alcohol consumption in middle and high school students and contribute to improvement in their safety behavior practices.

현장정재하시험 결과를 통한 타입말뚝 지지력 판정법 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Evaluation of Bearing Capacity for Driven Pile in Static Load Test)

  • The allowable bearing capacity of a pile, the most important factor in stability estimation, is determined by applying safety factor to the ultimate load or yield load. There are several but contradictory methods available in current design codes to estimate the allowable bearing capacity and the safety factor. This paper analyzes load-settlement curves obtained from 19 static load tests measured from 11 sites. At all tests, the load is applied until apparent failure is observed. The validity of the ultimate and yield load estimation method and load caculated from the settlement criterion is investigated through comparison with the measured data. In addition, a new procedure to estimate allowable load and safety factor is proposed. Additional data from field static load tests, such as those incorporated in this study, are needed to more reliably apply the proposed method in design practice.

데이터 분석 프로젝트 참여한 예비 교사의 통계적 지식에 대한 변화와 데이터 기반 의사 결정의 경험 (Changes in Statistical Knowledge and Experience of Data-driven Decision-making of Pre-service Teachers who Participated in Data Analysis Projects)

  • 미래 사회는 데이터를 다룰 수 있는 역량이 특히 중요해질 것이라 예측되며, 따라서 통계적 지식과 더불어 통계적 사고력을 갖춘 교사 교육이 필요한 시대가 되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 연구자들이 개발한 데이터 분석 프로젝트를 예비 교사들에게 적용해본 뒤 이들의 통계적 지식의 변화를 살펴보고 통계적 사고력을 활용한 데이터 기반 의사 결정 경험의 내용을 살펴보았다. 해당 프로젝트를 통해 예비 교사들은 실제 데이터를 공학적 도구를 통해 분석하는 기회를 가질 수 있었다. 연구를 위해 혼합연구 모형을 적용하여 예비 교사들의 통계적 지식의 변화를 양적으로 분석하였고 데이터 기반 의사 결정의 경험을 질적으로 살펴보았다. 그 결과 예비 교사들은 모평균과 표본평균의 관계, 그리고 모평균 추정 및 해석에 관한 통계적 지식이 부족한 것으로 드러났다. 데이터 기반 의사 결정에 관해서는 데이터와 분석 방법 및 분석 결과에 대한 이해의 깊이에 차이를 보였으며 이러한 차이는 예비 교사들이 한 모둠에서 같이 활동한 경우에도 발생하였다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 통계 교육의 질 제고를 위한 제안점을 논하였다.

  • 본 연구는 중소기업의 외부 기술 정보 네트워크에 대한 연구 흐름의 깊이를 더하기 위해 외부 기술 정보네트워크의 다양성이 중소기업의 기술개발로 인한 매출 증대에 미치는 직접적인 영향 뿐만 아니라, 이러한 직접인 영향에 대한 생산성 향상의 매개 효과와 최고 경영자가 주도하는 기술 개발의 조절 효과를 실증적으로 분석한다. 2,200개의 한국 중소기업 데이터를 사용한 최소자승 회귀분석을 바탕으로 다음과 같은 결과를 본 연구는 제공한다. 첫째, 중소기업의 외부 기술 정보네트워크의 다양성은 기술 개발로 인한 매출 성장에 정(+)의 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 중소기업의 생산성 향상은 외부 기술정보 네트워크의 다양성이 매출 성장에 미치는 이러한 정(+) 영향을 부분 매개한다. 셋째, 최고경영자가 주도하는 기술개발은 중소기업의 외부 기술 정보 네트워크의 다양성이 매출 성장에 미치는 정(+)의 영향을 조절한다.

관계형 데이터베이스를 이용한 배낭문제 해법기의 구현 (Development of Knapsack Problem Solver Using Relational DBMS)

  • Knapsack problems represent many business application such as cargo loading, project selection, and capital budgeting. In this research we developed a knapsack problem solver based on Martello-Toth algorithm using a relational database management system on the PC platform. The solver used the menu-driven user interface. The solver can be easily integrated with the database of decision support system because the solver can access the database to retrieve the data for the model and to store the result directly.
