  • The timings of two successive events of interest may not be measurable, instead it may be right censored or interval censored; this data structure is called doubly censored data. In the study of HIV, two such events are the infection with HIV and the onset of AIDS. These data have been analyzed by authors under the assumption that infection time and induction time are independent. This paper investigates the regression problem when two events arc modeled to allow the presence of a possible relation between two events as well as a subject-specific effect. We derive the estimation procedure based on Goetghebeur and Ryan's (2000) piecewise exponential model and Gauss-Hermite integration is applied in the EM algorithm. Simulation studies are performed to investigate the small-sample properties and the method is applied to a set of doubly censored data from an AIDS cohort study.

  • Information technology is an important driving force that has changed consumer information environments. In order to adjust in the new environments, consumers need an innovative information system. The purpose of this study was to develop a Consumer Information System (CIS). CIS is a device that supports consumer's decision-making process and elevates consumer information competence. The CIS was constructed by the following steps: (1) organization of developers, (2) systematization of consumer information, (3) data loading, (4) integration of consumer database: data warehouse, (5) data distribution, (6) composition of data mart, (7) use of data access tools: data-mining, OLAP, statistical analysis, Q+R, (8) data visualization: web server.

  • ISO 15926 is an international standard for the representation of process plant lifecycle data. However, it is not easy to implement the part 2-data model and the part 4-initial reference data because of their complexity in terms of data structure and shortages of related development toolkits. To overcome this problem, ISO 15926-7(part 7) is under development. ISO 15926-7 specifies implementation methods for sharing and exchange of process plant lifecycle data, which is based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, Web Services, and SPARQL. For the application of ISO 15926-7, this paper discusses how to represent technical specifications of process plant equipment by defining user-defined reference data and object information model with an example of reactor coolant pumps located in the reactor coolant system of an APR 1400 nuclear power plant.

  • In clinical studies, different types of outcomes (e.g. repeated measures data and time-to-event data) for the same subject tend to be observed, and these data can be correlated. For example, a response variable of interest can be measured repeatedly over time on the same subject and at the same time, an event time representing a terminating event is also obtained. Joint modelling using a shared random effect is useful for analyzing these data. Inferences based on marginal likelihood may involve the evaluation of analytically intractable integrations over the random-effect distributions. In this paper we propose a joint HGLM approach for analyzing such outcomes using the HGLM (hierarchical generalized linear model) method based on h-likelihood (i.e. hierarchical likelihood), which avoids these integration itself. The proposed method has been demonstrated using various numerical studies.

  • Future microcellular systems will require distributed network control. A packet-switched network is suitable for this requirement. The packet reservation multiple access(PRMA) is a Reservation-ALOHA like protocol for wireless terminals to transmit packet speech to a base station. It allows spatially distributed users in cellular systems to transmit packeted voice and data to a common base station using a shared channel. In the existing PRMA, the problem is that the voice packets may collide with the data packets due to simultaneous channel access. the problem may be a major performance degradation factor to a voice and data mixed system. We propose a new PRMA method that integrates voice and data traffic efficiently by resolving the collision problem between data and voice packets. The proposed PRMA method gives a performance improvement than the existing PRAMA method in terms of voice packet dropping probability and data delay characteristic. From analytic results, we can confirm that the proposed PRMA method show a performance improvement than the existing PRMA protocol.

  • In recent years, smart technology has been applied to various information system fields. Especially, traditional library service area is changing to Smart-Library from Digital-Library. In this environment are need to library service software platform for supporting variety content, library services, users and smart-devices. Due to this, existing library service has a limitation that inhibits semantic interoperability between different heterogeneous library systems. In this paper, we propose Linked-Open-Data based smart library as an archetype of future-library system that provide a variety content and system interaction and integration of services. It is an innovative system of the cutting-edge information intensive. Therefore, we designed system environments according to various integration requirements for smart library based on Linked-Open-Data. And, we describe the functional requirements of smart-library systems by considering the users' demands and the eco-systems of information technology. In addition, we show the reference framework, which can accommodate the functional requirements and provide smart knowledge service to user through a variety of smart-devices.

  • In this paper chemical process plant information is addressed to be standardized. The chemical process plant information has complexities in the context of its various types such as functions, shapes, connectivity etc. as well as its usages such as design, construction, operation, maintenance and so on. It was well known that the standard should be made by its users themselves to be used widely. The chemical process industry oriented ISO 15926 RDL (Systems and integration of life-cycle data for oil and gas production facilities : Reference Data Library) can provide the methodology for exchanging and sharing of plant equipment information, which will be developed through integrating existing standards such as ISO 10303 AP221, AP231, AP227. The PCA (Posc Caesar Association) which is located in Oslo, Norway, has the initiative in developing ISO 15926. Korea is a member of PCA and takes part in proposing and reviewing the new standard. The trends and prospects for the standard of chemical process plant information are addressed.

  • As IT technology develops recently, medical equipment used in hospitals is demanding high performance. However, since the user visits different hospitals depending on the user's situation, the medical information treated at the hospital is distributed among the hospitals. In this paper, we propose a model to efficiently integrate the health care information of the users stored in the hospital in order to collect the healthcare information of the users who visited the different hospitals. The proposed model synchronizes users' healthcare information collected from personal wearable devices to collect user - centered healthcare information. In addition, the proposed model performs integrity and validity check related to user's healthcare information in a database existing in a cloud environment in order to smoothly share data with the healthcare service center. In particular, the proposed model enables tree - based data processing to smoothly manage healthcare information collected from mobile platforms.

  • 3D RMR (Rock Mass Rating) analysis has been performed by applying the Geostatistical integration technique for geophysical and borehole data. Of the various geostatistical techniques for the integrated data analysis, in this study, we applied the SKlvm (Simple Kriging with local varying means) method that substitutes the values of the interpreted geophysical result with the mean values of the RMR at the location to be inferred. The substitution is performed by the indicator transform between the result of geophysical interpretation and the observed RMR values at borehole sites. The used geophysical data are the electrical resistivity and MT result, and 10 borehole sites are investigated to obtain the RMR values. This integrated analysis makes the interpretation to be more practical for identifying the realistic RMR distribution that supports the regional geological situation.
