  • The aim of the 3D medical imaging is to facilitate the creation of clinically usable image-based algorithm. Clinically usable imaging algorithm for image analysis requires a high degree of interaction to verify and correct results from registration algorithms, such as the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) which are the class libraries. ITK provides segmentation algorithms and VTK has powerful 3D visualization. However, to apply those libraries to the medical images such as Computerized Tomography (CT), the algorithm based on the interactive construction and modification of data objects are necessary. In this paper we showed the 3D registration about mandibular premolar of human teeth acquired by micro-CT scanner. Also, we used the ITK to find the contour of pulp layer of premolar, furthermore, the 3D imaging was visualized with VTK designed to create one kind of view on the data of 3D visualization. Finally, we evaluated that the volume model of pulp layer would be useful for the tooth morphology in dental medicine.

  • Purpose This study quantified companies' views on the COVID-19 pandemic with sentiment analysis of U.S. public companies' disclosures. It aims to provide timely insights to shareholders, investors, and consumers by analyzing and visualizing sentiment changes over time as well as similarities and differences by industry. Design/methodology/approach From more than fifty thousand Form 10-K and Form 10-Q published between 2020 and 2021, we extracted over one million texts related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the FinBERT language model fine-tuned in the finance domain, we conducted sentiment analysis of the texts, and we quantified and classified the data into positive, negative, and neutral. In addition, we illustrated the analysis results using various visualization techniques for easy understanding of information. Findings The analysis results indicated that U.S. public companies' overall sentiment changed over time as the COVID-19 pandemic progressed. Positive sentiment gradually increased, and negative sentiment tended to decrease over time, but there was no trend in neutral sentiment. When comparing sentiment by industry, the pattern of changes in the amount of positive and negative sentiment and time-series changes were similar in all industries, but differences among industries were shown in neutral sentiment.

  • This research developed a measurement technique that can measure the oxygen temperature inside a high temperature furnace. Instead of measuring only changes in frequency components within a small range used in the existing variable laser absorption spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy technology was used to spread out wavelength of the light source passing through the gas Based on a total of 20,000 image data, research was conducted to predict the temperature of a high-temperature furnace using CNN with black and white images in the form of spectral bands by temperature of 25 to 800 degrees. The optimal model was found through Hyper parameter optimization, R2 score is 0.89, and the accuracy of the test data is 88.73%. Based on this research, it is expected that concentration measurement and air-fuel ratio control technology can be applied.

  • Residents near the fire site are more anxious as they rely only on media information and the government's evacuation order due to the lack of information to understand the progress of the wildfire. Therefore, in the event of a wildfire, we try to understand the inconvenience of not being able to know the progress of the fire and solve it. This makes it possible to check the progress of wildfires and the spread of debris using the system interface (API) and weather data of the thermal infrared satellite image data (NASA FIRMS, Fire Information for Resource Management System), and finally, the purpose of this study. The results are provided through the Web including GIS-based visualization to provide decision-making reference information for evacuation in the event of a forest fire from the perspective of residents.

  • Visualization requires for effective analysis of the spatial data collected by various sensors. The best way to convey 3D digital spatial information which is modeling of the real world to the users, realistic 3D visualization and display technology. Since most of the display is based on 2D or 2.5D projection to the plane, there is limitation in representing real world in 3D space. In this paper, data from airborne LiDAR for topographic mapping, Flashi-LiDAR as emerging sensor with great potential to 3D data acquisition, and multibeam echo-sounder for underwater measurement, were stereoscopically visualized. 3D monitors are getting popular and could be information media and platform in geoinformatics. Therefore, study on creating 3D stereoscopic contents of spatial information is essential for new technology of stereo viewing systems.

  • Exploring distributional patterns of multivariate data is very essential in understanding the characteristics of given data set, as well as in building plausible models for the data. For that purpose, low-dimensional visualization methods have been developed by many researchers along various directions. As one of methods, Kohonen's SOM (Self-Organizing Map) is prominent. SOM compresses the volume of the data, yields abstraction from the data and offers visual display on low-dimensional grids. Although it is proven quite effective, it has one undesirable property: SOM's display is discrete. In this study, we propose two techniques for enhancing quality of SOM's display, so that SOM's display becomes continuous. The proposed methods are demonstrated in two numerical examples.

  • As traffic volume increases and road networks become more complicated, identifying for accurate traffic flow and driving smooth traffic flow are a concern of many countries. There are various analytical techniques and studies which desire to study about effective traffic flow. However, the necessary activity is finding the traffic flow pattern through data visualization including location information. In this paper aim to study a real-world urban traffic trajectory and visualize a pattern of traffic flow with a simulation tool. Our experiment is installing the sensor module in 40 taxis and our dataset is generated along 24 hours and unscheduled routes. After pre-processing data, we improved an open source traffic visualize tools to suitable for our experiment. Then we simulate our vehicle trajectory data with a dots animation over a period of time, which allows clearly view a traffic flow simulation and a understand the direction of movement of the vehicle or route pattern. In addition we further propose some novel timelines to show spatial-temporal features to improve an urban environment due to the traffic flow.

  • As industrial technology advances, convenience is also being developed. Many people living in big cities are commuting using transportation such as buses, taxis, cars, etc. and enjoy leisure, so research is needed to reduce the damages caused by traffic accidents. This study deals with estimating road-level rainfall in real-time. A rainfall observation data and radar data provided by the Korea meteorological administration were collected in real-time to create an integrated database, which was estimated as road-level rainfall by universal kriging method. Besides, we conducted a study to interactively visualization of mash-up road traffic information in real-time with integrating rainfall information.

  • 3-D image modeling is in high demand for automated visual inspection and non-destructive testing. It also can be useful in biomedical research, medical therapy, surgery planning, and simulation of critical surgery (i.e. cranio-facial). Image processing and image analysis are used to enhance and classify medical volumetric data. Analyzing medical volumetric data is very difficult In this paper, we propose a new image modeling method based on tetrahedrization to improve the visualization of three-dimensional medical volumetric data. In this method, the trivariate piecewise linear interpolation is applied through the constructed tetrahedral domain. Also, visualization methods including iso-surface, color contouring, and slicing are discussed. This method can be useful to the correct and speedy analysis of medical volumetric data, because it doesn't have the ambiguity problem of Marching Cubes algorithm and achieves the data reduction. We expect to compensate the degradation of an accuracy by using an adaptive sub-division of tetrahedrization based on least squares fitting.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a graph assessment module that can evaluate graphs in an programming assessment system based on text and numbers. The assessment method of the graph assessment module is self-evaluation that outputs two graphs generated by codes submitted by learners and by answers, automatic-evaluation that converts each graph image into an array, and gives feedback if it is wrong. The data used to generate the graph can be inputted directly or used from external data, and the method of generatng graph that can be evaluated is MATLAB style in matplotlib, and the graph shape that can be evaluated is presented in mathematics and curriculum. Through expert review, it was confirmed that the content elements of the assessment module, the possibility of learning, and the validity of the learner's needs were met. The graph assessment module developed in this study has expanded the evaluation area of the programming automatic asssessment system and is expected to help students learn data visualization.
