Hybrid Intelligent Web Recommendation Systems Based on Web Data Mining and Case-Based Reasoning

  • In this research, we suggest a hybrid intelligent Web recommendation systems based on Web data mining and case-based reasoning (CBR). One of the important research topics in the field of Internet business is blending artificial intelligence (AI) techniques with knowledge discovering in database (KDD) or data mining (DM). Data mining is used as an efficient mechanism in reasoning for association knowledge between goods and customers' preference. In the field of data mining, the features, called attributes, are often selected primary for mining the association knowledge between related products. Therefore, most of researches, in the arena of Web data mining, used association rules extraction mechanism. However, association rules extraction mechanism has a potential limitation in flexibility of reasoning. If there are some goods, which were not retrieved by association rules-based reasoning, we can't present more information to customer. To overcome this limitation case, we combined CBR with Web data mining. CBR is one of the AI techniques and used in problems for which it is difficult to solve with logical (association) rules. A Web-log data gathered in real-world Web shopping mall was given to illustrate the quality of the proposed hybrid recommendation mechanism. This Web shopping mall deals with remote-controlled plastic models such as remote-controlled car, yacht, airplane, and helicopter. The experimental results showed that our hybrid recommendation mechanism could reflect both association knowledge and implicit human knowledge extracted from cases in Web databases.

  • Recently, there have been many studies that predict corporate bankruptcy using data mining techniques. Although various data mining techniques have been investigated, some researchers have tried to combine the results of each data mining technique in order to improve classification performance. In this study, we classify 4 types of data mining techniques via their characteristics and select representative techniques of each type then combine them using a genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm may find optimal or near-optimal solution because it is a global optimization technique. This study compares the results of single models, typical combination models, and the proposed integration model using the genetic algorithm.

  • Web mining techniques are often used to discover useful patterns from data log generated by Web servers for the purpose of web usage analysis. Yet traditional Web mining techniques do not reflect sufficiently sequential properties of Web log data. To address such weakness, we introduce a framework for analyzing Web access log data by using process mining techniques. To illustrate the proposed framework, we show the analysis of Web access log in a campus information system based on the framework and discuss the implication of the analysis result.

  • Data mining techniques can also be used to increase the efficiency of production in the tax sector, which requires professional skills. As tax-related computerization was carried out, large amounts of data were accumulated, creating a good environment for data mining. In this paper, we have developed a system that can help tax accountant who have existing professional abilities by using data mining techniques on accumulated tax related data. The data mining technique used is random forest and improved by using f1-score. Using the implemented system, data accumulated over two years was learned, showing high accuracy at prediction.

Directed Association Rules Mining and Classification (목표 속성을 고려한 연관규칙과 분류 기법)

  • Data mining can be either directed or undirected. One way of thinking about it is that we use undirected data mining to recognize relationship in the data and directed data mining to explain those relationships once they have been found. Several data mining techniques have received considerable research attention. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for discovering association rules as directed data mining and applying them to classification. In the first phase, we find frequent closed itemsets and association rules. After this phase, we construct the decision trees using discovered association rules. The algorithm can be applicable to customer relationship management.

  • Web mining is an emerging science of applying modem data mining technologies to the problem of extracting valid, comprehensible, and actionable information from large databases of web in e-Business environment and of using it to make crucial e-Business decisions. In this paper, we present the noble framework of data visualization system based on web mining for analyzing the characteristics of on-line customers in e-Business. We also propose the framework of forecasting system for providing the forecasting information of sales/purchase through the use of web mining based on artificial intelligence techniques such as back-propagation network, memory-based reasoning, and self-organizing map.

PubMiner: Machine Learning-based Text Mining for Biomedical Information Analysis

  • In this paper we introduce PubMiner, an intelligent machine learning based text mining system for mining biological information from the literature. PubMiner employs natural language processing techniques and machine learning based data mining techniques for mining useful biological information such as protein­protein interaction from the massive literature. The system recognizes biological terms such as gene, protein, and enzymes and extracts their interactions described in the document through natural language processing. The extracted interactions are further analyzed with a set of features of each entity that were collected from the related public databases to infer more interactions from the original interactions. An inferred interaction from the interaction analysis and native interaction are provided to the user with the link of literature sources. The performance of entity and interaction extraction was tested with selected MEDLINE abstracts. The evaluation of inference proceeded using the protein interaction data of S. cerevisiae (bakers yeast) from MIPS and SGD.

  • This paper is investigated conception and methodology of data selection, cleaning, integration, transformation, reduction, selection and application of data mining techniques, and model evaluation during procedure of the knowledge discovery in database (KDD) based on Mathematics. Statistical role and methodology in KDD is studied as branch of Mathematics. Also, we investigate the history, mathematical background, important modeling techniques using statistics and information, practical applied field and entire examples of data mining.   • With the development of deep learning techniques, text mining is producing breakthrough performance improvements, promising future applications, and practical use cases across many fields. Likewise, even though several attempts have been made in the field of financial information, few cases apply the current technological trends. Recently, companies and government agencies have attempted to conduct research and apply text mining in the field of financial information. First, in this study, we investigate various works using text mining to show what studies have been conducted in the financial sector. Second, to broaden the view of financial application, we provide a description of several text mining techniques that can be used in the field of financial information and summarize various paradigms in which these technologies can be applied. Third, we also provide practical cases for applying the latest text mining techniques in the field of financial information to provide more tangible guidance for those who will use text mining techniques in finance. Lastly, we propose potential future research topics in the field of financial information and present the research methods and utilization plans. This study can motivate researchers studying financial issues to use text mining techniques to gain new insights and improve their work from the rich information hidden in text data.

  • In this paper, intelligent marketing and merchandising methods utilizing data mining and Web mining techniques are proposed for online retailers to survive and succeed in gaining competitive advantage in a highly competitive environment. The first part of this paper explains the procedures of one-to-one marketing based on customer relationship management(CRM) techniques and personalized recommendation lists generation. The second part illustrates Web merchandising methods utilizing data mining techniques, such as association and sequential pattern mining. We expect that our Web marketing and merchandising methods will both provide a currently operating Internet shopping mall with more selling opportunities and give more useful product information to customers.
