In this paper, a curve-fitting channel estimation method is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in a time-varying frequency-selective fading channel. The method can greatly improve channel state information (CSI) estimation accuracy by performing smoothing and interpolation through consecutive curve-fitting processes in both time domain and frequency domain. It first evaluates least-squares (LS) estimates using pilot symbols and then the estimates are approximated to a polynomial with proper degree in the LS error sense, starting from one preferred domain in which pilots we densely distributed. Smoothing, interpolation, and prediction are performed subsequently to obtain CSI estimates for data transmission. The channel estimation processes are completed by smoothing and interpolating CSI estimates in the other domain once again using the channel estimates obtained in one domain. The performance of proposed method is influenced heavily on the time variation and frequency selectivity of channel and pilot arrangement. Hence, a proper degree of polynomial and an optimum approximation interval according to various system and channel conditions are required for curve-fitting. From extensive simulation results in various channel environments, we see that the proposed method performs better than the conventional methods including the optimal Wiener filtering method, in terms of the mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER).
Rainfall-runoff modeling in conjunction with rainfall frequency analysis has been widely used for estimating design floods in South Korea. However, uncertainties associated with underlying distribution and sampling error have not been properly addressed. This study applied a Bayesian method to quantify the uncertainties in the rainfall frequency analysis along with Gumbel distribution. For a purpose of comparison, a probability weighted moment (PWM) was employed to estimate confidence interval. The uncertainties associated with design rainfalls were quantitatively assessed using both Bayesian and PWM methods. The results showed that the uncertainty ranges with PWM are larger than those with Bayesian approach. In addition, the Bayesian approach was able to effectively represent asymmetric feature of underlying distribution; whereas the PWM resulted in symmetric confidence interval due to the normal approximation. The use of long period data provided better results leading to the reduction of uncertainty in both methods, and the Bayesian approach showed better performance in terms of the reduction of the uncertainty.
Understanding the need for temperature regulation, behavior, and ecology of hibernating bats provides the possibility of conservation and management for target species. Our objective in this study was to improve understanding of the population trend and ecological requirement in Myotis formosus population in South Korea. From 2007 to 2016, total of 58 hibernacula for Myotis formosus were found across the country. Of the 58 hibernating sites of Myotis formosus, 86% (n=49) were abandoned mines and 14% (n=8) were natural caves. During the survey period, 28 (5%) bats of total 570 bats were observed in natural caves (n=8) and 542 (95%) bats were observed in abandoned mines (n=49). The internal environments of hibernacula of M. formosus were highly stable despite dramatic variation in the external environment. Specifically, we examined the population trend of the endangered bat Myotis formosus in South Korea by long-term monitoring for hibernation sites. The population trend of endangered species M. formosus showed a marked stable in hibernating population. Our results indicate that a tightly collected long-term data set may help to establish the initial approximation of population trends and manage to threats for the endangered bat species.

Personal dosimetry system is required to measure the personal dose equivalent accurately in a wide range of radiation fields, but the dose evaluation algorithms have been developed with the X-ray fields described in MOST Ordinance (equivalent to the ANSI N13.11) from which the actual fields to be monitored may be significantly different. To evaluate the dose more accurately when workers are exposed to the non-ANSI N13.11 radiation fields, two algorithms for monochromatic radiations (one algorithm was used for various ratios of TL dosimeter and the other for matrix approximation) were developed with the experimental data of the energy responses of the $CaSO_4:Dy$ TL materials irradiated by monochromatic X-ray fields recently established in KAERI, and compared with the another algorithm developed on the basis of the ANSI N13.11 continuous spectrum X-ray fields. Then it follows the discussions for some results of the algorithm testing including mixed fields irradiations and angular response conducted in IAEA/RCA intercomparison as well as ANSI and ISO continuous spectrum X-ray and monochromatic radiation fields. The developed algorithms were successfully performed the test not only in the continuous spectrum X-ray fields given by MOST Ordinance but also in the several non-MOST Ordinance radiation fields which could be encountered in the practical working environments.
Molecular reorientation in (NH$_4$)$_2$SO$_4$, has been studied by cold neutron scattering. For T=300$^{\circ}$K data, the isolated quasielastic spectra and form-factors at various scattering angles are compared with four reorientational models based on SKOLD theory. Front these, it is concluded that the NH$_4$ions are performing either 3-fold four axes or 2-fold three axes reorientation with $\tau$$_{c}$=2.0$\times$10$^{-11}$ sec. The temperature dependence of f. is studied over 100$^{\circ}$K-413$^{\circ}$K and for the high-temperature phase, the widths of composite spectra are compared with the results from NMR relaxation measurements. All the results have shown that the neutron scattering method is capable of giving detalis of the reorientational modes in solids and therefore some discussions are given on the application of this method. A study of the form-factor is applied for NH$_4$I (Phase I) by comparing the measurement with the calculation based on free rotation approximation and proposed a reorientation model of NH$_4$ ions in the octahedral potential cage with $\tau$$_{c}$$\leq$10$^{-12}$ sec. Also a brief theoretical prediction for the effect of reorientational motions on the inelastic spectrum is discussed.sed.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of advancement magnitude and changes in mandibular plane angle on the stability of mandibular advancement. Materials and Methods: This retrospective cohort study evaluated the postoperative stability of mandibular advancement in class II skeletal subjects who underwent bilateral sagittal split osteotomy. Radiographs taken preoperatively, immediately postoperatively and 1 year postoperatively were traced and analyzed using linear and angular measurements. To determine horizontal and vertical relapse, an X-Y coordinate system was established in which the X-axis was constructed by rotating S-N downward by $7^{\circ}$ (approximation of the Frankfort horizontal plane) and the Y-axis was defined as a line perpendicular to the X-axis and passing through the point Sella. For certain reference points including point A, point B, pogonion and menton, the perpendicular distance between each point and both axes was determined and cephalometric variables were recorded as X and Y coordinates. Results: Twenty-five subjects were studied. A significant correlation between the amount of mandibular advancement and relapse in the B point (vertical and horizontal) and the pogonion point was observed (vertical and horizontal, P<0.001). Evaluation of data demonstrated a positive correlation between the mandibular plane angle (SN/ML) change and vertical relapse in the B point (P<0.05). A simple regression model demonstrated that 74% of horizontal relapse and 42.3% of vertical relapse in the B point was related to the amount of mandibular advancement. The receiver operating characteristic test showed that 8.5 mm mandibular advancement is related to a relapse rate of 1 mm or more in the pogonion, vertically or horizontally. Conclusion: The magnitude of mandibular advancement is a stronger surgical predictor for horizontal rather than vertical relapse at the B point. Changes in mandibular plane angle (SN/ML) during surgery affect vertical, but not horizontal relapse at the B point.

In this paper, a measuring circuit is designed through analyzing manufacture specification of the sensor based on MOS. And the best input-output polynomial are induced that really gas sensors are used in gas safety management industrial fields. Response characteristics of a MOS gas sensor is analysed by through sensor's output voltages are measured after standard gases with six kinds of concentrations are manufactured and are injected to the sensor. A lookup table is created by relations of sensor's output voltages by injecting gases with other concentrations. Because data of the formed lookup table are equal interval, a polynomial can be induced of method of approximation function. So the 5th polynomial of input-output for a sensor is defined, coefficients are calculated by using least squares method, and the 5th polynomial is completed for representing characteristics of the sensor. If the proposed polynomial is applied to gas leak detectors, an inverse transformation of polynomial and programing of array codes are recreated. In this research, polynomial is implemented with array types that intervals of values of a lookup table are one-fifth sampled and interpolated. The performance of proposed 5th calibration equation is verified that errors are reduced than a linear expression when tests are performed by measurement of concentrations against injection of standard gases.
The goal of this paper is to develop a computational method to predict cancellous bone density distributions based upon continuum levels of volumetric strain. Volumetric strain is defined as the summation of normal strains, excluding shear strains, within an elastic range of loadings. Volumetric strain at a particular location in a cancellous structure changes with changes of the boundary conditions (prescribed displacements, tractions, and pressure). This change in the volumetric strain is postulated to predict the adaptive change in the bone apparent density. This bone remodeling theory based on volumetric strain is then used with the finite element method to compute the apparent density distribution for cancellous bone in both lumbar spine and proximal femur using an iterative algorithm, considering the dead zone of strain stimuli. The apparent density distribution of cancellous bone predicted by this method has the same pattern as experimental data reported in the literature (Wolff 1892, Keller et al. 1989, Cody et al. 1992). The resulting bone apparent density distributions predict Young's modulus and strength distributions throughout cancellous bone in agreement with the literature (Keller et al. 1989, Carter and Hayes 1977). The method was convergent and sensitive to changes in boundary conditions. Therefore, the computational algorithm of the present study appears to be a useful approach to predict the apparent density distribution of cancellous bone (i.e. a numerical approximation for Wolff's Law)

The purpose of this study was to develop a measuring tool for the health promotion behavior of Korean nurses. This would address the lack of a proven tool that reflects the nature of the nurses' nursing environment. This study was conducted on 530 nurses from January to December 2019. A literature review and focus group interview were conducted, data analysis was carried out to measure validity and reliability, and the conceptual framework was constructed by applying the IMB model. Five factors namely self-concept (2 questions), hospital life management (4 questions), knowledge and information regarding health (5 questions), physical and mental stress management (3 questions), and work adaptation (2 questions) were framed into 16 questions. The model fit was 346.23 (<.001), Parsimonious Normed Fit Index (PNFI) was 0.60, and Parsimonious Comparative Fit Index (PCFI) was 0.63, which met the acceptance criteria, and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) was 0.10. Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) was 0.88, Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was 0.85, and Incremental Fit Index (IFI) was 0.85 which were found to be acceptable as per the applicable standards. All items had a Cronbach's score of .85, which ensured stable reliability. The nurse's health promotion behavior measurement tool developed in this study will be used to measure the nurse's health promotion behavior in terms of nursing practice which will help in understanding the broad contours of this behavior.

Purpose: This study evaluated the validity and reliability of Shively and colleagues' self-efficacy for HIV disease management skills (HIV-SE) among Korean participants. Methods: The original HIV-SE questionnaire, comprising 34 items, was translated into Korean using a translation and back-translation process. To enhance clarity and eliminate redundancy, the author and expert committee engaged in multiple discussions and integrated two items with similar meanings into a single item. Further, four HIV nurse experts tested content validity. Survey data were collected from 227 individuals diagnosed with HIV from five Korean hospitals. Construct validity was verified through confirmatory factor analysis. Criterion validity was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficients with the new general self-efficacy scale. Internal consistency reliability and test-retest were examined for reliability. Results: The Korean version of HIV-SE (K-HIV-SE) comprises 33 items across six domains: "managing depression/mood," "managing medications," "managing symptoms," "communicating with a healthcare provider," "getting support/help," and "managing fatigue." The fitness of the modified model was acceptable (minimum value of the discrepancy function/degree of freedom = 2.49, root mean square error of approximation = .08, goodness-of-fit index = .76, adjusted goodness-of-fit index = .71, Tucker-Lewis index = .84, and comparative fit index = .86). The internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's α = .91) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = .73) were good. The criterion validity of the K-HIV-SE was .59 (p < .001). Conclusion: This study suggests that the K-HIV-SE is useful for efficiently assessing self-efficacy for HIV disease management.
