Decision tree methods is the one of data mining techniques. Classification trees are used to predict a class label. When a tree grows, the conventional splitting criteria use the weighted average of the left and the right child nodes for measuring the node impurity. In this paper, new splitting criteria for classification trees are proposed which improve the interpretablity of trees comparing to the conventional methods. The criteria search only for interesting subsets of the data, as opposed to modeling all of the data equally well. As a result, the tree is very unbalanced but extremely interpretable.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to use logistic regression and decision tree analysis to identify the factors that affect the success or failurein the national physical therapy examination; and to build and compare predictive models. Design: Secondary data analysis study Methods: We analyzed 76,727 subjects from the physical therapy national examination data provided by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute. The target variable was pass or fail, and the input variables were gender, age, graduation status, and examination area. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, binary logistic regression, and decision tree analysis were performed on the data. Results: In the logistic regression analysis, subjects in their 20s (Odds ratio, OR=1, reference), expected to graduate (OR=13.616, p<0.001) and from the examination area of Jeju-do (OR=3.135, p<0.001), had a high probability of passing. In the decision tree, the predictive factors for passing result had the greatest influence in the order of graduation status (x2=12366.843, p<0.001) and examination area (x2=312.446, p<0.001). Logistic regression analysis showed a specificity of 39.6% and sensitivity of 95.5%; while decision tree analysis showed a specificity of 45.8% and sensitivity of 94.7%. In classification accuracy, logistic regression and decision tree analysis showed 87.6% and 88.0% prediction, respectively. Conclusions: Both logistic regression and decision tree analysis were adequate to explain the predictive model. Additionally, whether actual test takers passed the national physical therapy examination could be determined, by applying the constructed prediction model and prediction rate.
Decision tree induction algorithm is one of the most widely used methods in classification problems. However, they could be trapped into a local minimum and have no reasonable means to escape from it if tree algorithm uses top-down search algorithm. Further, if irrelevant or redundant features are included in the data set, tree algorithms produces trees that are less accurate than those from the data set with only relevant features. We propose a hybrid algorithm to generate decision tree that uses genetic programming with sequentially selected features. Correlation-based Feature Selection (CFS) method is adopted to find relevant features which are fed to genetic programming sequentially to find optimal trees at each iteration. The new proposed algorithm produce simpler and more understandable decision trees as compared with other decision trees and it is also effective in producing similar or better trees with relatively smaller set of features in the view of cross-validation accuracy.
Generally, a suffix tree is an efficient data structure since it reveals the detailed internal structures of given sequences within linear time. However, it is difficult to implement a suffix tree for a large number of sequences because of memory size constraints. Therefore, in order to compare multi-mega base genomic sequence sets using suffix trees, there is a need to re-construct the suffix tree algorithms. We introduce a new method for constructing a suffix tree on secondary storage of a large number of sequences. Our algorithm divides three files, in a designated sequence, into parts, storing references to the locations of edges in hash tables. To execute experiments, we used 1,300,000 sequences around 300Mbyte in EST to generate a suffix tree on disk.
Solid insulation exposed to voltage is degraded by electrical tree process. And the degradation of the insulation is accelerated by voltage application. For this experiment, specimens of electrical tree models were made by three types of XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene). And distribution characteristics of degraded stages are studied too. As a method of detecting and data process, discharge data was acquired from PD detecting system (Biddle instrument). And microscope and digital camera were used to observe the morphologies of the electrical tree to divide stages of the tree. The system presents statistical distribution as phase resolved. Moreover the processing time of electrical tree is recorded to know the speed of degradation according to voltage.

For intermittently connected wireless sensor networks deployed in hash environments, sensor nodes may fail due to internal or external reasons at any time. In the process of data collection and recovery, we need to speed up as much as possible so that all the sensory data can be restored by accessing as few survivors as possible. In this paper a novel redundant data storage algorithm based on minimum spanning tree and quasi-randomized matrix-QRNCDS is proposed. QRNCDS disseminates k source data packets to n sensor nodes in the network (n>k) according to the minimum spanning tree traversal mechanism. Every node stores only one encoded data packet in its storage which is the XOR result of the received source data packets in accordance with the quasi-randomized matrix theory. The algorithm adopts the minimum spanning tree traversal rule to reduce the complexity of the traversal message of the source packets. In order to solve the problem that some source packets cannot be restored if the random matrix is not full column rank, the semi-randomized network coding method is used in QRNCDS. Each source node only needs to store its own source data packet, and the storage nodes choose to receive or not. In the decoding phase, Gaussian Elimination and Belief Propagation are combined to improve the probability and efficiency of data decoding. As a result, part of the source data can be recovered in the case of semi-random matrix without full column rank. The simulation results show that QRNCDS has lower energy consumption, higher data collection efficiency, higher decoding efficiency, smaller data storage redundancy and larger network fault tolerance.
