A Study on Ontology Design for Research Data Management (연구데이터 관리를 위한 온톨로지 설계에 대한 연구)

  • The systematic management of research data is vital because it increases research data's value for research reproduction, verification, and reusability. Standard metadata will play a key role in research data registration, management, and data extraction. Research data has various structural relationships, such as research, research data, data sets, and files, and associated with entities such as citations and research results. The study proposes an ontology model for research data management. It also suggests the application of ontology to NTIS. Previous studies, metadata standard analyses, and research data repository case studies were conducted.

  • Computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis is considered essential for product development because it decreases the simulation time, reduces the prototyping costs, and enhances the reusability of product parts. The reuse of quality-assured CAE data has been continually increasing due to the extension of product lifecycle management; PLM, which is widely used, shortens the product development cycle and improves the product quality. However, less attention has been paid to systematic research on the interoperability of CAE data because of the diversity of CAE data and because the structure of CAE data is more complex than that of CAD data. In this paper, we suggest a CAE data exchange method for the effective sharing of geometric and analysis data. The method relies on heterogeneous CAE systems, a virtual reality system, and our developed CAE middleware for CAE data exchange. We also designed a generic CAE kernel, which is a critical part of the CAE middleware. The kernel offers a way of storing analysis data from various CAE systems, and, with the aid of a script command, enabling the data to be translated for a different system. The reuse of CAE data is enhanced by the fact that the CAE middle-ware can be linked with a virtual reality system or a product data management system.

New Data Model for Efficient Search and Reusability of XML Documents (XML 문서의 효율적인 검색과 재사용성을 지원하는 데이터 모델)

  • XML has been proposed as a document standard for the representation and exchange of data on the WWW, and also becoming a standard for the search and reuse of scattered documents. When implementing a XML contents management system, special consideration should be imposed on how to model data and how to store the modelled data for effective and efficient management of the semi-structured data. In this paper, we proposed a new data model for the storage and search of XML document data. This proposed data model could represent both of data and structure views of XML documents, and be applied to the new data system for XML documents as well as the existing data systems.

Spatial Clearinghouse Components for OpenGIS Data Providers

  • Recently, the necessity of accessing spatial data from remote computer via network has been increased as distributed spatial data have been increased due to their size and cost. Many methods have been used in recent years for transferring spatial data, such as socket, CORBA, HTTP, RPC, FTP, etc. In this paper, we propose spatial clearinghouse components to access distributed spatial data sources via CORBA and Internet. The spatial clearinghouse components are defined as OLE/COM components that enable users to access spatial data that meet their requests from remote computer. For reusability, we design the spatial clearinghouse with UML and implement it as a set of components. In order to enhance interoperability among different platforms in distributed computing environment, we adopt international standards and open architecture such as CORBA, HTTB, and OpenGIS Simple Features Specifications. There are two kinds of spatial clearinghouse: CORBA-based spatial clearinghouse and Internet-based spatial clearinghouse. The CORBA-based spatial clearinghouse supports COM-CORBA bridge to access spatial data from remote data providers that satisfy the OpenGIS Simple Features Specification for OLE/COM using COM and CORBA interfaces. The Internet-based spatial clearinghouse provides Web-service components to access spatial data from remote data providers using Web-browser.

Standard-based Integration of Heterogeneous Large-scale DNA Microarray Data for Improving Reusability

  • Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) has kept the largest amount of gene-expression microarray data that have grown exponentially. Microarray data in GEO have been generated in many different formats and often lack standardized annotation and documentation. It is hard to know if preprocessing has been applied to a dataset or not and in what way. Standard-based integration of heterogeneous data formats and metadata is necessary for comprehensive data query, analysis and mining. We attempted to integrate the heterogeneous microarray data in GEO based on Minimum Information About a Microarray Experiment (MIAME) standard. We unified the data fields of GEO Data table and mapped the attributes of GEO metadata into MIAME elements. We also discriminated non-preprocessed raw datasets from others and processed ones by using a two-step classification method. Most of the procedures were developed as semi-automated algorithms with some degree of text mining techniques. We localized 2,967 Platforms, 4,867 Series and 103,590 Samples with covering 279 organisms, integrated them into a standard-based relational schema and developed a comprehensive query interface to extract.   • In the current field of Medical Informatics, the information increases, and changes fast, so we can access the various data types which are ranged from text to image type. A small number of technician digitizes these data to establish database, but it is needed a lot of money and time. Therefore digitization by many end-users confronting data and establishment of searching database is needed to manage increasing information effectively. New data and information are taken fast to provide the quality of care, diagnosis which is the basic work in the medicine. And also It is needed the medical database for purpose of private study and novice education, which is tool to make various data become knowledge. However, current medical database is used and developed only for the purpose of hospital work management. In this study, using text input, file import and object images are digitized to establish database by people who are worked at the medicine field but can not expertise to program. Data are hierarchically constructed and then knowledge is established using a tree type database establishment method. Consequently, we can get data fast and exactly through search, apply it to study as subject-oriented classification, apply it to diagnosis as time-depended reflection of data, and apply it to education and precaution through function of publishing questions and reusability of data.

  • Estimating the productivity of labor has relied on the experience and intuition of an estimator, or productivity data, such as standard in practical estimation. However, when new technologies and new construction methods employed in the construction industry, Dependence of a quantity surveyor's intuition is increased. This is because of the lack of a systematic methodology which models, estimates, and measures the labor productivity, Due to the historical productivity data is unavailable. Even thought project history data contains information that is important to predict the performance of a project, It can not provide valuable information to model, estimate, and measure the labor productivity. This is because 1) the absence of the productivity measurement system with consistency, 2) the difficulty of reusability of historical data collected. Therefor, this study suggests a methodology which build a productivity model by measuring the productivity of labor and collecting the historical data systematically. In addition, this methology is applied to develop a productivity model of shop-drawing and manufacturing process using descrete event simulation.

  • AS Extensible Markup Language(XML) is emerging as the data format of the Internet era, there are increasing needs to efficiently transform between database and XML documents. In this paper, we propose a schema transformation method from relational database to XML database. To transform the schema, we represent input schema as Entity-Relationship diagram. Entity-Relationship model translator scans the input Entity-Relationship diagram using BFS (breadth First Search) and translates the diagram into hierarchical structure model. The XML Schema generator produces XML Scema code using the transformed hierarchical structure model. The proposed method has a merit that having reusability facility of XML Schema property in comparison with existing researches.

Adsorption and electro-Fenton processes over FeZSM-5 nano-zeolite for tetracycline removal from wastewater

  • Adsorption and heterogeneous electro-Fenton process using iron-loaded ZSM-5 nano-zeolite were investigated for the removal of Tetracycline (TC) from wastewater. The nano-zeolite was synthesized hydrothermally and modified through impregnation. The zeolite was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, N2 adsorption-desorption, and NH3-TPD techniques. The equilibrium data were best represented by the Freundlich isotherm. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the most accurate model for the adsorption of TC on the modified nano-zeolite. The effect of parameters such as pH of solution and current density were investigated for the heterogeneous electro-Fenton process. The results showed that the current density of 150 mA and pH of 3 led to the highest TC removal (90.35%) at 50 min. The nano-zeolite showed the appropriate reusability. Furthermore, the developed kinetic model was in good agreement with the removal data of TC through the electro-Fenton process.

  • SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol) that is a late protocol for exchange of information with Web Services that is useful for implementing common functions in especially a large size business area, is a protocol that is a lightweight, XML-based protocol over HTTP for exchange to information in decentralized, distributed environments. In this paper, we implement SOAP-based Web Services that can use with a slip database, for common slip processing functions in enterprise accounts in order to enhance the transparency of transactions by slip processing system. The result of this paper will contribute to increasing the productivity of enterprises through enhancing the standardization of slip data, reusability of functions, convenience of access, and efficiency of implementing applications.
