  • A lot of manpower and budgets are being used to prevent fires, and only a small portion of the data generated during this process is used for disaster prevention activities. This study develops a prediction model of fire occurrence probability based on data mining in order to more actively use these data for disaster prevention activities. For this purpose, variables for predicting fire occurrence probability of various buildings were selected and data of construction administrative system, national fire information system, and Korea Fire Insurance Association were collected and integrated data set was constructed. After appropriate data cleansing and preprocessing, various data mining methodologies such as artificial neural network, decision trees, SVM, and Naive Bayesian were used to develop a prediction model of the fire occurrence probability of buildings. The most accurate model among the derived models is Linear SVM model which shows 68.42% as experimental data and 63.54% as verification data and it is the best model to predict fire occurrence probability of buildings. As this study develops the prediction model which uses only the set values of the specific ranges, future studies may explore more opportunites to use various setting values not shown in this study.

  • In this paper, we design an intelligent agent system with the data mining module and information fusion module as the core components of the system and investigate the possibility for the medical expert system. In the data mining module, fuzzy neural network, OFUN-NET analyzes multi-view data and produces fuzzy cluster knowledge base. In the information fusion module and application module, they serve the diagnosis result with possibility degree and useful information for diagnosis, such as uncertainty decision status or detection of asymmetry. We also present the experiment results on the BI-RADS-based feature data set selected form DDSM benchmark database. They show higher classification accuracy than conventional methods and the feasibility of the system as a computer aided diagnosis system.

  • A decision tree algorithm should be modified to be suitable in distributed and collaborative environments for distributed data mining. The distributed data mining system proposed in this paper consists of several agents and a mediator. Each agent deals with a local data mining for data in each local site and communicates with one another to build the global decision tree model. The mediator helps several agents to efficiently communicate among them. One of advantages in distributed data mining is to save much time to analyze huge data with several agents. The paper focuses on a transfer technique among agents dealing with each local decision tree model to reduce huge overhead in communication among them.

  • A number of documents containing important and useful knowledge have been generated over time in the construction industry. Such text-based knowledge plays an important role in the construction industry for decision-making and business strategy development by being used as best practice for upcoming projects, delivering lessons learned for better risk management and project control. Thus, practical and usable knowledge creation from construction documents is necessary to improve business efficiency. This study proposes a knowledge creating system from construction documents using text mining and the design comprises three main steps - text mining preprocessing, weight calculation of each term, and visualization. A system prototype was developed as a pilot study of the system design. This study is significant because it validates a knowledge creating system design based on text mining and visualization functionality through the developed system prototype. Automated visualization was found to significantly reduce unnecessary time consumption and energy for processing existing data and reading a range of documents to get to their core, and helped the system to provide an insight into the construction industry.

  • Data mining techniques enable us to generate useful information for decision support from the data sources which are generated and accumulated in the process of routine organizational management activities. College administration system is a typical example that produces a warehouse of student records as each and every student enters a college and undertakes the curricular and extracurricular activities. So far, these data have been utilized to a very limited student service purposes, such as issuance of transcripts, graduation evaluation, GPA calculation, etc. In this paper, we utilize Holland career search test results, TOEIC score, course work list, and GPA score as the input for data mining and generation the student advisory information. Factor analysis, AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), artificial neural net, and CART(Classification And Regression Tree) techniques are deployed in the data mining process. Since these data mining techniques are very powerful in processing and discovering useful knowledge and information from large scale student databases, we can expect a highly sophisticated student advisory knowledge and services which may not be obtained with the human student advice experts.

  • The purpose of this research is to summarize the methodological issues in internet survey and to suggest personalized internet survey system using data mining technique for enhancing the survey quality of internet survey as well as utilizing the benefit of interactive multimedia factors of internet survey. The data mining technique used in this paper is Case Based Reasoning for adopting individual design preference affecting survey quality. For achieving the research purpose, two surveys, pre & post survey, were performed. Pre survey was done for implementing CBR database to find individual index affecting survey quality and post survey was used for measuring the peformance of personalized internet survey system. The result shows that the survey quality of personalized web survey system is better than generalized web survey system.

  • Due to recent growing interest in autonomous software agents and their potential application in areas such as electronic commerce, the autonomous negotiation become more important. Evidence from both theoretical analysis and observations of human interactions suggests that if decision makers have prior information on opponents and furthermore learn the behaviors of other agents from interaction, the overall payoff would increase. We propose a new methodology for a strategy finding process using data mining in autonomous negotiation system; ANSIA(Autonomous Negotiation System using Intelligent Agent). ANSIA is a strategy based negotiation system. The framework of ANSIA consists of three component layers; 1) search agent layer, 2) data mining agent layer and 3) negotiation agent layer. ANSIA is motivated by providing a computational framework for negotiation and by defining a strategy finding model with an autonomous negotiation process.

  • Process and manufacturing data are numerously accumulated to the enterprise database in industries but little of those data are utilized. Data mining can support a decision to manager in process from the data. However, it is not easy to field managers because a proper adoption of various schemes is very difficult. In this paper, six scenarios are conducted using data mining schemes for the various situations of field claims such as yield problem, trend analysis and prediction of yield according to changes of operating conditions, etc. Scenarios, like templates, of various analysis situations are helpful to users.

  • The technological development in the era of the 4th industrial revolution is changing the paradigm of various industries. Various technologies such as big data, cloud, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things are used, creating synergy effects with existing industries, creating radical development and value creation. Among them, the logistics sector has been greatly influenced by quantitative data from the past and has been continuously accumulating and managing data, so it is highly likely to be linked with big data analysis and has a high utilization effect. The modern advanced technology has developed together with the data mining technology to discover hidden patterns and new correlations in such big data, and through this, meaningful results are being derived. Therefore, data mining occupies an important part in big data analysis, and this study tried to analyze data mining techniques that can contribute to the logistics field and common logistics using these data mining technologies. Therefore, by using the AHP technique, it was attempted to derive priorities for each type of efficient data mining for logisticalization, and R program and R Studio were used as tools to analyze this. Criteria of AHP method set association analysis, cluster analysis, decision tree method, artificial neural network method, web mining, and opinion mining. For the alternatives, common transport and delivery, common logistics center, common logistics information system, and common logistics partnership were set as factors.

  • Understanding and adapting to changes of customer behavior is an important aspect for a company to survive in continuously changing environment. The aim of this paper is to develop a methodology which detects changes of customer behavior automatically from customer profiles and sales data at different time snapshots. For this purpose, we first define three types of changes as emerging pattern, unexpected change and the added / perished rule. Then we develop similarity and difference measures for rule matching to detect all types of change. Finally, the degree of change is evaluated to detect significantly changed rules. Our proposed methodology can evaluate degree of changes as well as detect all kinds of change automatically from different time snapshot data. A case study for evaluation and practical business implications for this methodology are also provided.
