Objective: To determine the energy consumed and muscle use during dance compared to different standard exercise devices. Design: Longitudinal study. Methods: Fifteen female subjects were evaluated to assess the energy cost and muscle activity during a 20 minute dance video compared to treadmill, elliptical track and bicycle ergometry. The later 3 forms of exercise were accomplished in four, 5 minute bouts at different intensities of exercise. Subjects were in the age range of 22-24 years old, were free of cardiovascular disease and did not have any neurological injuries. They were not sedentary and exercised at least twice a week. During the exercise, muscle activity was measured by the electromyogram recorded by surface electrodes on 6 muscle groups. A Cosmed metabolic cart was used to measure oxygen consumption during the exercise. Results: The aerobic dance video that was tested here was equivalent to a hard workout on any of the 3 exercise modalities. The dance routine was equivalent in terms of energy consumed to running at 225 watts of work or running for 20 minutes at a speed of 2 meters per second (4.47 miles per hour). Compared to the bicycle, it was equivalent to cycling at 112 watts for 20 minutes (2.25 kpm), and for the elliptical trainer, dance was equivalent to 435 watts. Concerning muscle use, the dance routine was the most balanced for upper, core and lower body muscles. Although the elliptical trainer was close, it required muscle less muscle use. Conclusion: A good dance video can be more effective than standard exercise equipment.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among senior dance participants' fun, leisure constraints negotiation and intention to continue exercise of the oldest old. The questionnaires were analyzed 103 of the oldest old in D-city. The measurement tools used were fun, leisure constraints negotiation and intention to continue exercise. Amos 26.0 and SPSS WIN VER 26.0 program were used to analyze the data with correlation analysis, reliability analysis and structural equation model. the results of this study, First, it was showed that the fun of the oldest's old participation in senior dance had a significant effect on the intention to continue exercise. Second, it was showed that the fun of the oldest's old participation in senior dance had a significant effect on the leisure constraints negotiation. Third, it was showed that the leisure constraints negotiation of the oldest's old participation in senior dance had a significant effect on the intention to continue exercise. Fourth, it was showed that the leisure constraints negotiation of the oldest's old participation in senior dance had a partial mediation effect between fun and intention to continue exercise.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of Korean traditional dance exercise on physical health (BMI; body mass index, BP; blood pressure, VC; vital capacity, TC; total cholesterol, HDL; high-density lipoprotein, TG; triglyceride), self-efficacy and stress in elderly women. A quasi-experimental research design(one group pretest and posttest) was used for this study. Participants were recruited in a metropolitan city and a total of 43 community dwelling elderly women completed the 12-week Korean traditional dance exercise program. Descriptive statistics and paired t-tests were used in the data analysis by SPSS/WIN 12.0. After the Korean traditional dance exercise program there was a significant difference in BMI, VC, TC, HDL, stress and self-efficacy. There were, however, no significant changes in BP, and TG level after completing this program. This study suggests that Korean traditional dance exercise may be one of the effective nursing interventions for elderly women.
The purpose of this study was to analyze effects of 12 weeks dance sports on body composition, irisin, adiponectin and blood lipids in obesity elderly women. The subjects were 26 obesity elderly women who do not have medically problems. The subjects randomly assigned to two groups; dance sports exercise(n=13), control(n=13). The subjects in dance sports group were participated for 60 minutes/day with two times/wk for 12 weeks, whereas subjects in control group were asked to maintain normal lifestyle during the same intervention period. The results of the present study showed that the blood irisin was significantly increased in the exercise group. The blood adiponectin level tended to increase in the exercise gorup. The blood lipids, TG and LCL-C were significantly decreased in the exercise group. The TC was slightly decreased, and the HDL-C was slightly increased. In conclusion, low irisin and adiponectin level in obese people have a positive effect on obese elderly women after dance sports. Therefore, exercise is thought to be good for the care of elderly obesity.

This Study designed to examine the effects of participation motivation of Dance Sports Activation. The dance sports club participants were selected by systematic stratifies cluster random sampling method. The questionnaire was given to 320 members of badminton club members and engaging in the range activity from March 2019 to April 2019. After collecting the questionnaires, I exclude 20 unreliable questionnaires which were incomplete, incorrectly marked or double marked, and used 300 questionnaires for the study. The conclusion of this research was as follows: First, Participation motivation had a effect on enjoyment factor in dance sports club participants. Second, Participation motivation had a effect on exercise dependence in dance sports club participants. Third. Enjoyment factor had a effect on exercise dependence in dance sports club participants. It was concluded that participation motivation would be beneficial for enjoyment factor and exercise dependence in dance sports club participants.
Purpose: The study examined the effect of exercise public health center exercise program on strength, balance, body composition and blood pressure in healthy elderly women. Method: Thirty healthy elderly women were divided into three 12-week exercise groups: Tai-Chi (n=10), silver dance (n=10), and band exercise (n=10). The results were analyzed by two-way repeated ANOVA and paired t-test using SPSS 12.0 program. Results: Body weight and body mass index were significantly decreased in the Tai-Chi and silver dance groups. In addition, there was a significant increase in balance time and reduced diastolic blood pressure in Tai-Chi participant. Grip strength was significantly increased in Tai-Chi and silver dance participants, but there was no effect in the band exercise group. Agility was significantly increased in the band exercise group. Conclusion: Tai-Chi and silver dance may be beneficial to improve fitness of elderly people, although the details remain to be elucidated.
To evaluate training effect, aerobic dance was performed by eight female collegestudents for 8 weeks. Body composition, cardiopulmonary function at rest and during maximal exercise, blood cholesterol concentration at rest were determined before and after 8weeks of aerobic dance training. Maximal exercise was performed on the treadmill according of Bruce protocol. Pre to post training differences were evaluated. The results obtained were as follows : 1. After the training, skinfold thickness and total body fat decreased significantly(p<0.1) while lean body mass increased with significance (p<0.1). 2. Heart rate and arterial blood pressure at rest decreased without sinificance after the training. 3. As a result of training, forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume for a second increased significantly (p<0.01, p<0.1). 4. After the training period, heart rate at 3, 6, and 9 min. during treadmill exercise was significantly lower than those of pretraining (p<0.05). 5. After the training, systolic and diastolic blood pressure at 6 and 9 min during the exercise was significantly lower than those of pretraining (p<0.025, p<0.1). 6. After the training, oxygen uptake at 3 and 6 min during the exercise was significantly greater than those of pretraining (p<0.05). 7. As a result of training, the maximal oxygen uptake increased significantly during the exercise (p<0.1). 8. After the training, expired air volume for a minute at 3 and 6 min during the exercise was signigicantly grerter than those of pretraining (p<0.1). 9. After the training, repiratory quotient during the exercise was lower than pretaining without significance. 10. After the training, blood HDL -cholesterol concentration incereased with significance, (p<0.1) blood total cholesterol and triglycerids concentration decreasedsignificantly (p<0.1). From these results, it may be concluded that 8 week aerobic dance training reduces skinfold thickness and body fat contents, improves the cardiopulmonary function and tissue oxygen utilization, reduces blood cholesterol and triglyceride concentration and brings about the increase of blood HDL-cholesterol concentriation.
Purpose: A dance exercise program was performed to investigate the effects of exercise on exercise intention and exercise-related affect as these are important determinants of exercise behavior. Method: The subjects were overweight (23$\leq$BMI<25) or obese (BMI$\geq$25) postmenopausal women (n=14), who participated in an exercise program from May, 2003 through November, 2003 at one public health center located in Kyong-gi Province. Data was analyzed with an SAS PC program. Result: Exercise intention was significantly increased after the exercise program (t=-2.24, P=0.04). Exercise-related affect was also increased, but there was no statistically significant change (t=1.81, P=0.09). Conclusion: This study suggests that exercise participation can increase the level of future exercise behavior by increasing exercise intention and exercise-related affect.
