This study analyzes the work environment and the work clothes wearing conditions of shipyard painters. In addition to this, three types of experimental painting work clothes were evaluated by painters in terms of the material performance and wearing functions. The findings on the harmful painting work environmental factors were organic solvents, noise, heavy dust, high temperatures, and noxious fumes. The body parts damaged during painting operations were the skin, arms, whole body, and face. In general, the satisfaction with the wearing performance of work clothes for painting was low especially in regards to sweat absorbency, sweat permeability, body protection, covering, and the work motion suitability. The satisfaction with the wearing sense of painting working clothes (regardless of the type of material) was high in the order of movement comfort> sensual comfort> physiological comfort. The satisfaction in overall comfort according to the types of material was high in the order of nylon> SMS nonwoven fabric> SF nonwoven fabric.
Objectives : This paper examines the effects of Particulate Matter on human bodies and the possibility of treating them with Chinese or Korean medicines. Methods : This paper categorizes the diseases caused by Particulate Matter, as well as the causes, pathology, prevention methods, and effectiveness of treatments by Chinese and Korean medicines. Based on these results, it analyzes whether such diseases can be managed by Chinese and Korean medicine. Results : Particulate Matter is known to affect respiratory organs, skin, circulatory system, nervous system, gestational diabetes, and other parts of the human body. While studies show evidence that treatments by Chinese and Korean medicines can reduce symptoms of some diseases and improve bodily functions that are damaged by Particulate Matter, there is no statistically significant evidence that they can provide fundamental treatments nor treat irreversible damages. Conclusion : Currently, there is no definite evidence that Chinese and Korean medicine can treat symptoms and diseases caused by Particulate Matter. Therefore, some Korean medicine doctors' arguments that Korean medicine is effective in treating such diseases are problematic, and thus, there is a need for much research in this field.
This bamboo brush stand was made by attaching two bamboo tubes together, each 80mm in diameter. On the bottom is a "∞-shaped"wood board made of Ailanthus altissima. The surfaces are decorated with exquisite and dynamic designs of a dragon and clouds, and a deer and pine trees. Part of this bamboo brush stand was damaged, lost, or worn down, prior to conservation treatment. After conservation and recovery treatment, its original form was restored. Earth powder, chalk, and gluten mixture were used as materials to fill in the missing parts. After the original form was restored, thin silk fabric was attached to the inner surface of the glued part to prevent cracking. Traditional materials and repair techniques were used to allow for reversal of treatment, if necessary, as seen in the surface of the restored part being made antiquated with lacquer varnish.

The widely used spot welded section members of vehicles are structures which absorb most of the energy in a front-end collision. In front-end collision, sufficiently absorbed in the front parts, the impact energy does not reach the passengers. Simultaneously, the frame gets less damaged. This structures have to be very stiff, but collapse progressively to absorb the kinetic energy as expected. In the view of stiffness, the double-hat shaped section member is stiffer than the hat shaped section member. In progress of collapse, the hat shaped section member is collapsing progressively, but the double-hat shaped section member does not due to stiffness. An analysis on the hat shaped section member was previously completed. This paper concerns the collapse characteristic of the double-hat shaped section member. In the program system presented in this study, an explicit finite element code, LS-DYNA3D is adopted for simulating complicate collapse behavior of double hat shaped section members with respect to spot weld pitches. And comparing with the results from the quasi-static and impact experiment, the simulation has been verified.
Damages of a steel box girder bridge are detected using neural networks. Damage detection using neural networks has increasing momentum in structural engineering. It is a new effort to overcome the limitations of the conventional analytical approaches and applied to the damage detection of a steel box-girder bridge. Data sets for training neural networks are obtained from the acceleration response of the bridge under moving load. Finite element model is first defined and damages of 5, 10, 15 and 20% are assumed in the model. Not only the trained damages but untrained damages are detected in the assessment stage. The untrained damages can be detected with acceptable errors. Because the number of damaged locations are limited to a few parts, more researches are needed to put this technique into practice.
A diagnostic investigation of the conservation state of damaged murals of the Payathonzu temple mainly indicated delamination, exfoliation, and contamination of the coloring layer; cracks and damage to the wall; and separation from gaps. In particular, vulnerabilities resulting from cracks in the wall and damage from gaps demand swift reinforcement measures. Ultrasonic testing uncovered damage caused by gaps between the base layer and plastered wall in several areas of the mural, vulnerable parts in the wall around the cracks, and considerable degradation of the physical properties where cracks and gaps were severe. Moisture measurements identified vast disparities in moisture depending on location even within a single area of the mural, and it was clear that these disparities were the result of environmental conditions such as humidity. Damage to the murals in monument 477 was the most severe, and a diagnostic of the physical properties uncovered severe physical damage to the upper part of the mural as well as to the corridor ceiling, thus presenting the need for conservation treatment utilizing scientific diagnosis as well as objective data.
Conservation laboratory was attached to Keimyung University Museum inMarch 1980 and ever since it has been devoted mainly to the processing andconservation of metal objects. A number of objects have been processed inthis laboratory during the period, including those already in the collection ofthe Museum, those which were discovered during the three major excavationsof Kaya tombs conducted by the Museum, and those processed on commissionfrom other museums in the country,The activities of this laboratory include: (1) conserving the objects againstfurther erosion; (2) raising the archaeological value of the objects by revealingthe structure of such parts of the objects as concealed under rust; and (3)recovering the original shape of damaged objects. The methods adopted by the laboratory include: (1) removing from theobjects the ionized chlorine which usually are the major cause of erosion; (2)strengthening the objects by soaking them in acrylic resins; and (3) applyingresins to the surface of the objects to protect them from further erosion.Chemicals much employed by the laboratory includes the acrylic resin(Ruschot; developed jointly by the Cultural Property Research Institute ofKorea and Samwha Paint Company), the sodium sesquicarbonate, the sodiumhydroxide, the lithium hydroxide, and the benzotriazole.Major apparatus in the laboratory includes the vacuum immersion tank, theairbrasive, the ultrasonic cleaner, the pH-ion meter, the water bath, the zoomstereo microscope, the drying oven, and the drill.
It is necessary to develop the simulator for the test of stability and torque before the walking experiment of biped robot, because a robot may be damaged in an actual experiment. This thesis deals with the development of three-dimensional simulator for improving efficiency and safety during development and experimentation. The simulator is composed of three parts-solving dynamics, rendering pictures and communicating with the robot. In the first part, the D-H parameter and parameter of links can be loaded from the file and edited in the program. The results are obtained by using the Newton-Euler method and are stored in the file. Through the above process, the proper length of link and driving force can be found by using simulator before designing the robot. The second part is organized so that the user can easily see a specific value or a portion he wants by setting viewing parameters interactively. A robot is also shown as a shaded rendering picture in this part. In the last part, the simulator sends each desired angle of joints to the robot controller and each real angle of joints is taken from the controller and passed to the second part. The safety of the experiment is improved by driving the robot after checking whether the robot can be actuatable or not and whether the ZMP is located within the sole of the foot or not for a specific gait. The state of the robot can be easily grasped by showing the shaded rendering picture which displays the position of the ZMP, the driving force and the shape of robot.

A suspension bridge is a type of bridge in which the beam is suspended by load-bearing cables. There are two classifications: the self-anchored suspension bridge has the main cable anchored to the bridge girders, and the earth-anchored suspension bridge has the main cable anchored to a large anchorage. Although a suspension bridge is structurally safe, it is prone to be damaged by various actions such as hurricanes, tsunamis and terrorist incidents because its cables are exposed. If damage to a cable eventually leads to the cable rupture, the bridge may collapse. To avoid these accidents, studies on the dynamic behavior of cable bridges due to the cable rupture have been carried out. Design codes specify that the calculated DAF (dynamic amplification factor) should not exceed a certain value. However, it has been difficult to determine DAFs effectively from dynamic analysis, and thus no systematic approach has been suggested. The current study provides a guideline to determine DAFs reliably from the dynamic analysis results and summarizes the results by applying the method to an earth-anchored suspension bridge. In the study, DAFs were calculated at the location of four structural parts, girders, pylons, main cable and hangers, with variations in the rupture time.

High Power and high dose ion implantation is essentially needed to make power MOSFET devices based on SiC wafers, because the diffusivities of the impurities such as Al, N, p, B in SiC crystal are very low. In addition, it is needed high temperature annealing for electrical activation of the implanted species. Due to the very high annealing temperature, the surface morphology after electrical activation annealing becomes very rough. We have found the different surface morphologies between implanted and unimplanted region. The unimplanted region showed smoother surface morphology It implies that the damage induced by high energy ion implantation affects the roughening mechanism. Some parts of Si-C bonding are broken in the damaged layer, s\ulcorner the surface migration and sublimation become easy. Therefore the macrostep formation will be promoted. N-type 4H-SiC wafers, which were Al ion implanted at acceleration energy ranged from 30kev to 360kev, were activated at 1600$^{\circ}C$ for 30min. The pre-activation annealing for damage relaxation was performed at 1100-1500$^{\circ}C$ for 30min. The surface morphologies of pre-activation annealed and activation annealed were characterized by atomic force microscopy(AFM).
