The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of 4 feeding systems on growth, feed intake, eating behavior, lactation performance, gestation period, post-partum heat period, conception rate and parasitic infestation of Black Bengal goat. Twenty four does of approximately 1 year of age were randomly selected for 4 treatment (feeding systems) groups having 6 replications in each. Treatments were stall feeding ($T_1$), tethering ($T_2$), restricted grazing ($T_3$) and grazing ($T_4$). $T_1$ group was housed continuously and adequate amounts of natural grass were supplied for ad libitum feeding. $T_2$ group was tethered for grazing natural grass from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. being moved at one hour intervals. Goats of $T_3$ group were allowed grazing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. $T_4$ group was grazed from 8 a. m. to 4 p.m. Concentrate supplement was given at the rate of 150 g per day per goat for all of the treatment groups. Duration of experiment was 219 days. Daily live weight gain was significantly (p<0.05) higher in case of stall fed goats than that of others. DM intake also significantly (p<0.05) differed among the treatment groups and was 3.40 3.95, 3.76 and 4.05 per cent of their live weight for stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing groups, respectively. Rate of rumination was significantly (p<0.05) higher in case of tethering group of goats than that of others. Birth weight of kids, milk yield, lactation period and post-partum heat period were significantly higher in case of stall fed goats than others. Tethering group showed significantly (p<0.05) higher litter size than others. Infestation rate of Fasciola was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the grazing group. In conclusion, it may be stated that among these feeding groups overall performance of stall fed goats was more satisfactory, and that the tethering group showed better performance than the others.

The feeding habits of larval (5.0~27.0 mm SL) Clupea pallasii were examined and 1,523 individuals were collected from November 2010 to March 2011 in the coastal water of Eastern Jinhae Bay, Korea. Larval C. pallasii were fed mainly on copepods that constituted 55.2% in IRI. Monogeneans were the second largest prey component, another prey items tintinnids, cladocerans and ostracoda. The results of analysis in ontogenetic changes exhibit high during the daytime, two small size classes (${\leq}10mm$, 10~15 mm) mainly fed copepods. while the percentage of coperpods decreased, monogeneans ratio increased in 15~20 mm size class. Feeding rate in diel difference of larval C. pallasii were high during the daytime.
This studies were carried out to assess the effects of feeding bovine colostrum on growth and feed intake of mouse. A total of 30 mice were divided into three groups(10 mice for each groups), and treatments(colostrum, city milk, or no milk as the control) were randomly assigned. Average daily intake of solid feed during the experimental period were 4.73, 3.95 and 3.41g for control, normal milk, and colostrum, respectively. Average daily intake of milk were 0, 9.93, and 10.17g for control, normal milk, and colostrum, respectively. Average daily water intake were 6.28, 4.743, and 4.67g for control, normal milk, and colostrum, respectively. The growth rate of the colostrum group was 16.7% higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). There were differences in the concentrations of IL-4 and IL-13 associated with allergy in mouse blood at colostrum and city milk feeding as compared with control.

The effect of feeding frequency on growth performance, body nutrient composition, and hematological parameters of juvenile chum salmon Oncorhynchus keta was investigated. The juveniles (10.9±0.3 g) were fed commercial feed for 30 days with feeding frequencies of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 meal (s)/day (n=2 tanks per treatment) in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Fish were fed to satiation at each of the feeding frequencies. At the end of the feeding trial, final body weight, weight gain, and specific growth rate of fish fed 2 meals/day were significantly higher than those of fish fed 1 meal/day(P<0.05); however, no difference was detected among the other feeding frequencies. Daily feed intake significantly increased with increasing feeding frequency, whereas feed and protein utilization efficiencies continuously decreased with increase in the feeding frequency. Among the treatments, fish fed 1 meal/day showed the lowest value in whole-body lipid content and total protein concentration in plasma. Taken together, the optimal feeding frequency for growth performance and feed utilization efficiency in chum salmon juveniles reared in the RAS was determined to be 2 meals/day.

A 6-week feeding trial was conducted to determine optimum feeding frequency for growth of juvenile flounder Paralichthys. olivaceus during the summer season. Triplicate groups of fish (initial mean weight 3.7 g) were fed a extruded pellet with 5 feeding frequencies (one meal every 2 days, one meal a day, two meals a day, three meals a day and four meals a day) at $24.0\pm0.50^{\circ}C$ (mean$\pm$SD). Survival of fish fed one meal every 2 days was significantly (P<0.05) lower than that of the other groups. Weight gain, specific growth rate and daily feed intake increased with increasing feeding frequency (P<0.05). However, no significant differences were observed in weight gain, specific growth rate and daily feed intake of fish fed among two, three and four meals a day. feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio were not affected by feeding frequency. Whole body contents of moisture, crude protein, crude lipid and ash were not significantly affected by feeding frequency. These results indicate that optimum feeding frequency is two meals a day for the optimum growth of juvenile flounder grown from 3.7 to 19.0 g under the experimental conditions.
Studies on the rate of growth, the rate of feeding and the efficiency of food conversion on the stage of new-born fries to the near adult size for three species of cuttlefishes , Sepia esculenta, Sepia subaculeata, Sepiella maindroni and two species of squids, Sepioteuthis lessomiana, Euprymna berryi were carried out in the process of artificial raising, and then argued about a feasibility of the propagation of cuttlefishes and squids. 1. The relation between the daily age (D) and the body weight(W) of Sepia exculent is expressed in a logarithmic equation, log W=3.0649 log D-4.2768. The daily rates of growth through 121 days of the raising period were 1.46 per cent for the man시 length and 1.67 percent for the body weight. The raipidest growth of Sepia esculenta is observed at the stage of 1 to 4 cm in the mantle length . At that time the daily rates of growth reach 3.3 to 5.5 percent for the mantle length and 10.4 to 12.0 percent for the body weight, respectively. The growth of Sepia esculenta varies a great deal to the bait. When fed on a dead bait the rates of growth decrease 17 per cent for the mantle length and 26 percent for the body weight compared with those fed on a live bait. 2. The relation between the daily age and the body weight of Sepia subaculeata is expressed in a logarithmic equation, log W=3.7447 log D-4.9003. The daily rates of growth through 110 days of the raising period were 1.63 percent for the mantle length and 1.83 percent for the body weight. The rapidest growth of Selia subaculeata is observed at the stage of 1.5 to 9.0 cm in the mantle length. At that time the daily rates of growth reach 3.1 to 7.4 percent for the mantle length and 6.8 to 16.7 percent for the body weight , respectively. 3. The relation between tehdaily age and the body weight of Sepiella maindroni is expressed in a ogarithmic equation , log W=2.9332 log D-3.8224 . The daily rates of growth through 133 days of the rearing period were 1.39 percent for the mantle length and 1.51 percent for the body weight . The rapidest growth of Sepiella maindroni is observed at the stage of 0.4 to 5.8 cm in the mantle length. At that time the daily rates for growth reach 4.6 to 7.3 percent for the mantle length and 8.5 to 15.4 percent for the body weight , respectively. 4. The daily rates of growth onthe stage of 0.5 to 6.0 comin the mantle length of Sepioteuthis lessoniana were 4.1 to 5.9 percent for the mantle length and 7.1 to 10.7 percent for the body weight . 5. During the rearing period of 31 days immediately after the hatching , the daily rateof feeding of Sepia esculenta marked 11.0 to 39.4 percent (28.2 percent in an average), and the efficiency of food conversion of this species reached 9.0 to 71.0percent (38.7percent in an average). Even at the more growing stage of 4.5to 6.2 cm in the mantle length, the daily rate of feeding of three species of cuttlefishes wee maintained 17.7 percent for Sepia esculenta, 30.8 percent for Sepia subaculeata and 34.7percent for Sepiella maindroni on an average. 6. The efficiency of food coversion of cuttlefishes and squids are larger than those of other fishes, and all the species are rapid in their growth. Four to five months are thought to be enough for their growing into a fair commercial size.

A 10-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding rate on growth and body composition of adult flounder during the summer season. Three replicated groups of the fish (initial mean weight of $535{\pm}4.1\;g$) were hand-fed a extruded diet twice a day at the different feeding rates of satiation (100%), 90%, 80% and 70% of satiation for 10 weeks. Mean Water temperature was $19.2{\pm}2.8^{\circ}C$ during the feeding trial. Weight gain and condition factor increased significantly with increase in daily feeding rate (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in weight gain of fish fed the diet between 100% and 90% of satiation. Survival and feed efficiency were not significantly different among all groups. Proximate composition of dorsal muscle was not significantly affected by feeding rate. Based on the results of this study, optimum feeding rate for growth and condition factor of adult flounder (535-928 g) seemed to be 90% of satiation.

This study investigated the growth characteristics of juvenile abalone when has been rearing as other different feed rates by the commercial abalone formulated feed on indoor tank, during the winter period that was maintaining on the low water temperature. Experimental abalones were use to 1 year old (shell length $29.14{\pm}2.56mm$, wet weight $2.9{\pm}0.6g$), and it has cultured at six feeding rate groups (0.75 DFW, 1.50 DFW, 2.25 DFW, 3.00 DFW, 3.75 DFW, 4.5 DFW) that were set up the daily feeding rate about total weight (DFW), and two replicated. The average water temperature in the experiment period was $9.7{\pm}3.27^{\circ}C$. In the monthly change absolute growth rate (AGRSL) and specific growth (SGRSL) of shell length, at January, 3.00 DFW was significantly higher than all feeding rate groups (P < 0.05). And in the monthly change of weight change and weight gain (WG), at March, 3.75DFW was significantly higher than all feeing rate groups (P < 0.05). The growth coefficient of thermal units (TGC) was decreased rapid since January, and 3.75 DFW was show significantly higher than all feeding rate groups (P < 0.05). In monthly change of feed efficiency (FE), at December, the 0.75 DFW was significantly higher than all feeding rate groups (P < 0.05), and in February and March, there was no significant difference between all feeding period. Therefore, In this study, was show that juvenile abalones can do to maintain or increasing from weight to supply commercial artificial diet during winter period when rearing into the indoor tank.
Sixteen Holstein heifer calves were used in an 112-day trial to study the effects of probiotic supplementation on growth performance and rumen metabolism. Calves were divided into four groups of four calves each, with two groups receiving the probiotic supplement and two groups serving as controls. Calves were limited to 1.6 kg dry matter of a corn-barley based grain mix per day. Long-stem bromegrass hay was fed as forage the first 56 days and bromegrass silage the last 56 days of the trial. Probiotic (28 g/d/calf) was fed along with the grain mix twice daily. Data were analyzed for the entire trial and also for the separate hay and silage feeding periods. Total weight gain and average daily gain were not affected (p>.05) by probiotic supplementation. Dry matter intake was lower (p<.05) and feed efficiency (kg feed/kg weight gain) was improved slightly during the hay feeding period for the probiotic-supplemented calves. Wither height gain was greater (p<.05) during the hay period and lower (p<.05) during the silage period for probiotic-supplemented calves. Heart girth gain was improved (p<.07) by probiotic supplementation, particularly during the hay feeding period (p<.05). Total rumen volatile fatty acid (VFA) concentration was higher (p<.05) with the probiotic-supplemented calves. Molar proportions of individual VFA were not affected (p>.05). Rumen ammonia-N and plasma urea-N concentration were lower (p<.05) for probiotic-supplemented calves during the hay feeding period. Total tract nutrient digestibility was not affected (p>.05). Some improvements in animal performance and changes in rumen and blood metabolites were observed when calves were supplemented with probiotic. Effects due to probiotic supplementation were most pronounced during the hay feeding period.
The objective was to determine the relationship between feed intake levels and patterns, and growth performance and body composition of barrows and gilts using automatic feed intake recording equipment (F.I.R.E.). This system records the time of visits to the feeder and the duration and size of meals for individual animals housed in groups. Ninety-six crossbred pigs were grown from $33.4{\pm}0.51$ to $109.7{\pm}1.39kg$ live weight over a 13-week period. Eight mixed-sex groups of 12 pigs were used and 4 dietary treatments were compared giving 2 pens per treatment. The dietary treatments consisted of corn-soybean meal diets with differing protein levels which ranged from 14.7% to 19% between 30 to 55 kg, from 13.3% to 16.9% between 56 and 85 kg, and from 12.3% to 16.8% for the remainder of the study. Animals were ultrasonically scanned to measure loin-eye area and backfat thickness to estimate carcass fat-free lean content at the beginning and end of the study. Barrows had higher daily feed intake than gilts (2.67 vs. 2.46 kg resp. p<0.05) which was the result of a longer feeder occupation time per visit (4.77 vs. 4.54 min, resp. p<0.05), higher feed consumption rates (30.4 vs. 29.0 g/min, resp. p<0.05), and higher feed intakes per visit (136.9 vs. 126.8 g, resp. p<0.01). Gilts had less backfat and greater loin-eye area than barrows (p<0.05). Diet had no significant effect on growth performance and had limited impact on feeding patterns. Body weight showed high correlations with ADG (r=0.74), feed intake per visit (r=0.51) and feed consumption rate (r=0.69). Positive correlation were also found between daily feed intake and feed intake per visit (r=0.45), feeder occupation time per day (r=0.56), and feed consumption rate (r=0.55), and between daily feed intake and backfat thickness (r=0.32) and feed consumption rate and loin-eye area (r=0.32). There were negative correlations between number of feeder visit per day and daily feed intake (r=-0.54), and between feed intake per visit and number of feeder visits per day (r=-0.43). However, correlations between feed intake traits and carcass traits were generally low. Visits to the feeder were greatest during the morning (0700 to 1100 h) and lowest during the evening and nighttime. These results highlight limited variation among the sexes in feeding patterns and suggest important relationships between feeding behavior and feed intake.
