  • Effect of lipids on the oxidative inactivation of paraoxonasel (PON1), a HDL -associated antioxidant protein, was investigated, based on the hydrolysis of phenyl acetate. First. various fatty acids were examined for the prevention against the inactivation of PON1 byascorbate/Cu2+ system, which caused a remarkable ($\geq$ 90%) inactivation of PON1, accompanied by a partial loss of histidine residues. • The inverse relationship between dietary flavonoids consumption and cardiovascular diseases may be associated with the ability of flavonoids to attenuate LDL oxidation. Although flavonoids have been employed to prevent against LDL oxidation, their pro-oxidant effect also deserves an attention in respect to untoward property. (omitted)

  • Polyurethane wastes can be depolymerized with glycols and/or amines. The depolymerization products may be recycled for the preparation of various polyurethanes. Caprolactam was employed to depolymerize Spandex fibers and the depolymerization products were evaluated as raw materials for the preparation of polyurethane elastomers. The depolymerization products were homogeneous and could be used to prepare polyurethane elastomers acceptable for various applications as binders.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel synthesis method of GBSB(Generalized BSB)-based neural autoassociative memories in which we analyze qualitative properties of GBSB model, recast a design problem of an associative memory to LMIP(Linear Matrix Inequality Problem), and optimize the LMIP using LMI techniques. The obtained memory satisfies many of the required properties of associative memories and has some peculiar properties. Comparing experimental results with those of others, we show its correctness and effectiveness.
