  • Tensile and shrinkage characteristics of DTY, EDY and Macel were investigated experimentally. The drawn textured yarn(DTY) made by an existing belt type false twist and the elastic drawn textured yarn(EDY) made by non-torque false twist method modified from the belt type one. Macel was the yarn which had drawn and un-drawn arrangements. The tenacity of EDY had lower value than that of DTY. EDY had higher strethch than that of DTY. Especially Macel yarn had higher stretch than that of DTY compared with the same diameter of yarn. With time course behavior the tenacity and elongation of DTY and EDY had stabled tendency without variation. Before scouring Process, the wet and dry shrinkage patio of EDY load higher value than that of DTY. However, they decreased artier the process. At the same time, the stretch characteristic of EDY was significant as the diameter of yarn became higher.

  • In order to establish fundamental data for the betterment of Polyester microfiber fabric handle, a study by using fixed warp of ITY yarn samples with P/F, DTY, and ITY weft yarns was performed. For this purpose the samples of total 27 kinds were prepared. That is, each sample yarn was twisted in three ways and for each twisted yarn the fabric structures were modified in three ways, plain, twill, and satin. The examination was done by focusing on the point of the change of handles and the characteristics of the mechanical properties of the samples with the change of yarn and the fabric structure. The handles and the mechanical properties were examined with the KES-F system suggested by Kawabata. The results were as follows : 1. WT and MIU increased with increasing the twist. By comparing WT and MIU by yarn, DTY was higher than P/F. It appeared that twill and satin were higher than plain. 2. The bending rigidity change in DTY with increasing the twist was not significant, however in P/F it appeared apparently decreased with increasing the tlvist. Also, it appeared that when using P/F as weft the bending rigidity was higher than when using DTY and the twill structure appeared higher than the satin structure. 3. In shear force the increasing rates of plain and the twill were higher than satin. When DTY and P/F were used as weft, the shear force was higher in ITY and DTY than in P/F case. 4. Koshi appeared higher in the order of plain, twill and satin. When DTY and P/F were used as the weft Koshi increased with increasing the twist in plain, however in twill and satin it appeared to decrease. In hand value ITY(=7.5) appea.ed to be highe. than DTY and P/F(=6.5). 5. In all cases Shinayakasa decreased with increasing the twist. The hand values observed that satin was =4, twill was =3, and plain was =1.5. 6. Fukurami showed no significant change with increasing the twist in DTY, however in P/F and ITY it decreased.

  • The properties of a woven fabric made of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) were investigated. The PTT fab-ric of draw textured yarn (DTY) showed excellent stretch as good as a fabric containing spandex. However, the unique stretch of the PTT fabric reduced dramatically by simple heat-treatment even at as low as $80^{\circ}C$. To understand the phenomenon, the crimp rigidity of the DTY was observed by SEM. It was found that the drastic reduction of stretch was caused by irreversible uncrimping of PTT DTY after heat-treatment. Conclusively, it is of importance to optimize the texturing conditions for PTT DTY to make the crimp more stable.

  • This research surveys the effects of POY physical properties and processing conditions of belt texturing machine to the draw textured yarns. The various textured yarns are made with variation of 1st heater temperature, draw ratio and velocity ratio, and the physical properties of these specimens such as yarn linear density, tensile properties and wet and dry thermal shrinkages are measured and analyzed with POY physical properties and processing conditions of texturing machine. Especially yarn mechanical properties of DTY are analysed with the variation of untwisting tension (T$_2$) on the untwisting part in DTY process and thin and thick DTY yam model are proposed with surging phenomena in DTY process.

  • In the study, the physical properties of the raw sample, non-circular(+ type) DTY yarn(50d level) with absorption and quick-dry function, were examined before and after being twisted(1000T/M). The results are as follows: The shrinkage of non-cricular(+type) DTY yarn(50d/36f) at $180^{\circ}$ was about 6-7% with twisted samples, but the samples without twisting went 8 to 10%. The elongation of the non-twisted and twisted samples at $180^{\circ}$ and 30-minute treatment time reached 50% and 40%, respectively. The tenacity of non-cricular(+type) DTY yarn(50d/36f) was affected less by treatment temperature in the twisted condition.

  • Draw textured yarns have many differences with yarn quality as well as wearing, due to the bulkiness, thermal and physical properties according to the false twist texturing system. In order to improve such property, many studies have been accomplished for developing good textured yarns and their fabrics, but these have been essentially obtained by experimental data or mathematical analysis. This study surveyed various properties of DTY produced by false twist texturing system, namely pin and crossed-belt false twist insertion systems. And 6 yarn specimens of 2 group(pin twisting type, belt twisting type) were measured and analysed.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the High Functional Stretch Yarns and Woven Fabrics to produce the high value added textile goods and to meet the consumer's needs. For the study 8 yarns and 10 fabrics were made with three develop machine and the thermal-stress properties of the sample were tested and analysed. The result indicated that the sample fabrics kept their stretch performance regardless of conventional process. EDY(elastic DTY) had higher stretch than that of DTY(drawn textured yarn). Especially Macel yarn had higher stretch than that of DTY compared with the same condition of yarn. With time course behavior the elongation of DTY and EDY had stabled tendency without variation. The above results show that wearing sensation and comfort properties of fabrics are changed depending on the end-use. and thus, above results can be used to manufacture of fabrics for specific end-use with high comfort properties.

  • This study surveys the physical properties of DTY composite yarns manufactured by pin, disk and belt texturing systems. For this purpose, 208d/36f POY PET and 40d/12f high shrinkable PET filaments are prepared for specimens. The composite yarns are manufactured with this texturized POY and high shrinkable PET filament using the pin, disk and belt type texturing machines. While the processing conditions of the pin and disk types texturing machines were fixed, those of a belt type texturing machine were varied with over feed to compare and analyze with the yarn physical properties of pin and disk type composite yarns.

  • Due to the change in lifestyle, new sensible materials for sportswear and outdoor are needed. This study is conducted in order to obtain the data for sensible materials through nylon twist process. 1-step nylon twisting machine was used to set the optimum twist process. DSC measurements of twisted nylon yarn showed crystallization temperatures around 170℃ and melting temperatures around 220℃. Nylon 40D/13F DTY and Nylon 50D/48F DTY showed optimal results at 160℃, 1,500 T/M(Turns per meter), and Nylon 70D/68F DTY at 160℃, 1,200 T/M(Turns per meter) after 1-step twist process. Also, Nylon 40D/13F DTY was confirmed to have inter-layer property deviation of ±5 percent.
