  • In this paper, modeling of the communication channel occupancy characteristics at the base station in the wide area radio trunking syste has been performed. Using the results, mathematical analysis for the switching capacity at the network switch has also been done. Specificatlly, we propose a G/M/m queueing model for the single service area modeling, and analyze changes in call blockingprobabilities accoridng to changes in the burstness characteristics of group paging calls. As a result, we have observe dthat the channel occupancy variations become larger as the burstness characteristics become more apparent, to make the call blocking probability higher. Next, based on the single service area analysis, we have anayzed mathematically the average switching capacity required to serve mobile subscribers for a wide area radio trunking sytem, where multiple switching port assignments are required when the people in the same group are distributed over several base stations. Accordingly, we have observed that the average and the variance of switching channel occupancy are closely related to the mobility characteristics of subscribers, and that we need a netowrk switch having bigger capacity as subscribers show wider distribution. Especially, with the call dropping probability within 0.2%, a switch having about 5 to 6 times bigger can be required, compared with the one when the mobility of subscribers is mostly restricte dto a single service area.

  • Conversion of DME (dimethyl ether) or methanol to light olefins (ethylene, propylene, butenes) over SAPO-34 were systematically studied, where it was observed that DME was dehydrated to light olefins and partially converted to by-products such as CO and $CO_2$ at various reaction temperatures on the time-on-stream. SAPO-34 catalyst during the DTO (dimetyl ether-to-olefins) reaction was significantly deactivated compared with MTO (methanol-toolefins) reaction. By addition of water to the reaction feed, the yield to light olefins was not only increased, but the life time of the catalyst was also prolonged by the suppression of the coke formation by steam.

  • SAPO-34 catalysts were modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Pb to improve their catalytic lifetime and selectivity for light olefins in the conversion of dimethyl ether to olefins (DTO). Hierarchical SAPO-34 catalysts and PbAPSO-34 catalysts were synthesized according to changes in the molecular weight of PEG (M.W. = 1000, 2000, 4000) and the molar ratio of Pb/Al (Pb/Al = 0.0015, 0.0025, 0.0035), respectively. By introducing PEG into the SAPO-34 catalyst crystals, an enhanced volume of mesopores and reduced acidity were observed, resulting in improved catalytic performance. Pb was successfully substituted into the SAPO-34 catalyst frameworks, and an increased BET surface area and concentration of acid sites in the PbAPSO-34 catalysts were observed. In particular, the concentrations of the weak acid sites, which induce a mild reaction, were increased compared with the concentrations of strong acid sites. Then, the P2000-Pb(25)APSO-34 catalyst was prepared by simultaneously utilizing the synthesis conditions for the P2000 SAPO-34 and Pb(25)APSO-34 catalysts. The P2000-Pb(25)APSO-34 catalyst showed the best catalytic lifetime (183 min based on DME conversion > 90%), with an approximately 62% improvement compared to that of the unmodified catalyst (113 min).

  • The phase sequence of codeposited Co-Si alloy and Co/si multilayer thin film was investigated by differential scanning calormetry(DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, The phase sequence in codeposition and codeposited amorphous Co-Si alloy thin film were CoSilongrightarrow Co2Si and those in Co/Si multilayer thin film were CoSilongrightarrowCo2Silongrightarrow and CoSilongrightarrowCo2Si longrightarrowCoSilongrightarrowCoSi2 with the atomic concentration ration of Co to Si layer being 2:1 and 1:2 respectively. The observed phase sequence was analyzed by the effectvie heat of formatin . The phase determining factor (PDF) considering structural facotr in addition to the effectvie heat of formation was used to explain the difference in the first crystalline phase between codeposition, codeposited amorphous Co-Si alloy thin film and Co/Si multilayer thin film. The crystallinity of Co-silicide deposited by multitarget bias cosputter deposition (MBCD) wasinvestigated as a funcion of deposition temperature and substrate bias voltage by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and epitaxial CoSi2 layer was grown at $200^{\circ}C$ . Parameters, Ear, $\alpha$(As), were calculate dto quantitatively explain the low temperature epitaxial grpwth of CoSi2 layer. The phase sequence and crystallinity had a stronger dependence on the substrate bias voltage than on the deposition temperature due to the collisional daxcade mixing, in-situ cleannin g, and increase in the number of nucleation sites by ion bombardment of growing surface.

  • The dryer (ten per unit) are operating to remove tritium in PHWR(Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor). There are coming out heavy water adsorbent from operating the dryer (95 drums for ten year per unit) The amount of radioactivity of heavy water adsorbent almost exceed ninety times more than disposal limit-in-itself showed by The Ministry of Science and Technology. It has to be disposed whole radioactive waste products, however there are problems of increase at the expense of their permanent disposal. In this research, We have studied how to remove kinds of nuclear materials and amount of tritium with in heavy water adsorbent. As the result we could develop disposal equipment and apply it. D20 adsorbent have to contain below Gamma nuclide O.3Bq/g and tritium 100Bq/g "The Regulation for disposal of the radioactivity wastes" showed by The Ministry of Science and Technology. There fore. So as to remove amount of tritium and kinds of nuclear materials (DTO) we needed a equipment. Also we have studied how to remove effectively radioactivity with in Adsorbent. As cleaning heavy water adsorbent and drying on each condition (temperature for drying and hours for cleaning). Because there is something to return heavy water adsorbent by removing impurities within adsorbent when it is dried o high temperature. After operating, we have been applying this research to the way to dispose heavy water adsorbent. Through this we could reduce solid waste products and the expense of permanent disposal of radioactive waste products and also we could contribute nuclear power plant run safely. According to the result we could keep the best condition of radiation safety super vision and we could help people believe in safety with Radioactivity wastes control for harmony with Environment.

  • A puc -deleted cell of Rhodobacter sphaeroides grows with a doubling time longer than 160 h under the light-limiting photoheterotrophic ( 3 Watts [W]/㎡) conditions due to an absence of the peripheral light-harvesting B800-850 complex. A spontaneous fast-growing mutant, R.sphaeroides SK101 was ioslate dto have∼40-h doubling at 3 Watts/㎡, while the growth of the mutant was not distinguished from its parental strain during both aerobic and light-saturating photoheterotrphic (10W/㎡) growth. The B875 complex of SK101 under the light-limiting conditions was elevated by 20 to 30% compared with that of the puc -deleted cell, reflecting parallel increase of bacteriochlorophyll and carotenoid contents of the mutant. The formation of B875 complex of SK101 under the anaerobic dark conditions with dimethylsulfoxide was the same as that of the puc-deleted cell. suggesting that the mutation of SK101 result in the altered control of B875 complex formation by light. When puc is restored in SK101 , it is not B875 complex but B800-850 complex which formation is elevated. The mutation of SK101 affected the bchF transcription most drastically to show two to tenfold increase during both aerobic and photoheterotrophic growth. The mutated phenotype of SK101 was complemented with pW2, which contains approximately 100-kb HNA of the photosynthetic gene clusters. The complementing DNA was narrowed down to a 1.1-kb DNA containing orfQ and pufKBA . The mutation of SK101 appeared to be exerted through the mutation of the orfQ gene encoding a putative bacteriochlorophyll -mobilizing protein.

  • I. Purpose Brachytherapy is the main component in treatment of patients with uterine cervical cancer. The reproducibility of applicator position in the same patient at repeated treatments was very important for accurate dose delivery. It was aimed to evaluate the change of applicator location between each high dose rate(HDR) brachytherapy insertion in the patients with uterine cervical cancer. II. Materials and Methods From January 1999 to October 2001, total 52 patients were treated with external beam radiotherapy and HDR brachytherapy (Microselectron, Nucletron). During six to seven times of brachytherapy, all patients had three treatment plans. From the orthogonal radiographs, we measured the following variables; height from upper border of pubic bone to os (HPO), distance from sacral promontory to tip of tandem (DST), distance from coccyx to os (DCO), distance from tip of right ovoid to os (DRO), distance from tip of left ovoid to os (DLO), and distance from center of the first tandem source to ovoid (DTO). To evaluate the reproducibility of applicator position, it was calculated the standard deviation of differences between three insertions for the 7 parameters in each patient. III. Results The ranges of standard deviations of interfractional differences for the variables were as follows. 1)HPO : $0{\sim}0.79cm$ 2)DST : $0{\sim}0.9cm$ 3)DCO : $0.06{\sim}0.76cm$ 4)DRO : $0{\sim}0.53cm$ 5)DLO : $0{\sim}0.45cm$ 6) DTO $0{\sim}0.36cm$ IV. Conclusions There was some change in applicator position on repeated implants in our study. But variation of the interfractional differences was minimal; in all parameters, there were less than 1 cm. We are continued to try for reducing the geometric variation between each procedure.

  • The aim of this study is to develop a new software tool for 3D dose verification using $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel dosimeter. The tool included following functions: importing 3D doses from treatment planning systems (TPS), importing 3D optical density (OD), converting ODs to doses, 3D registration between two volumetric data by translational and rotational transformations, and evaluation with 3D gamma index. To acquire correlation between ODs and doses, CT images of a $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel with cylindrical shape was acquired, and a volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plan was designed to give radiation doses from 1 Gy to 6 Gy to six disk-shaped virtual targets along z-axis. After the VMAT plan was delivered to the targets, 3D OD data were reconstructed from 512 projection data from $Vista^{TM}$ optical CT scanner (Modus Medical Devices Inc, Canada) per every 2 hours after irradiation. A curve for converting ODs to doses was derived by comparing TPS dose profile to OD profile along z-axis, and the 3D OD data were converted to the absorbed doses using the curve. Supra-linearity was observed between doses and ODs, and the ODs were decayed about 60% per 24 hours depending on their magnitudes. Measured doses from the $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel were well agreed with the TPS doses at central region, but large under-doses were observed at peripheral region at the cylindrical geometry. Gamma passing rate for 3D doses was 70.36% under the gamma criteria of 3% of dose difference and 3 mm of distance to agreement. The low passing rate was resulted from the mismatching of the refractive index between the PRESAGE gel and oil bath in the optical CT scanner. In conclusion, the developed software was useful for 3D dose verification from PRESAGE gel dosimetry, but further improvement of the Gel dosimetry system were required.
