  • Most of all, DTC drive is very simple in its implementation because it needs only two hysteresis comparator and switching vector table for both flux and torque control. The switching strategy of a conventional direct torque control scheme which is based on hysteresis comparator results in a variable switching frequency which depends on the speed, flux, stator voltage and the hysteresis of the comparator. The amplitude of hysteresis band greatly influences on the drive performance such as flux and torque ripple and inverter switching frequency. In this paper the influence of the amplitudes of flux and torque hysteresis bands and sampling time of control program on the torque and flux ripples are investigated. Simulation results confirm the superiority of the DTC under the proposed method over the conventional DTC.

  • A torque ripple reduction technique of direct torque control(DTC) for high power induction motors driven by 3-level inverters with the inverter switching frequency limited around 0.5-1.0kHz level is presented. It is noted that conventional DTC algorithms to reduce torque ripple are devised for applications with relatively high switching frequency above 2-3kHz. Such conventional algorithms can not accomplish satisfactory torque ripple reduction for 3-level inverter systems with lower switching frequency. A new DTC algorithm, especially for low switching frequency inverter system, illustrates relatively reduced torque ripple characteristics all over the operating speed region. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • In this paper a Direct Torque Control(DTC) scheme for PWM three level inverter-fed induction motor drives, is presented and discussed. In orde to deal with DTC scheme applied three level inverter, the selection of voltage vector is proposed to minimize switching frequency and torque ripple. The simulation results shows a validity of the control scheme.

  • In this paper, an advanced DTC(Direct Torque Control) scheme for PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is presented. The proposed DTC method uses a conventional torque estimator and torque error. But the switching signal is generated by PWM method according to the switching rules and torque error. A simple calculation of PMW without any complex determination of space vector can assure the constant switching frequency with an excellent control performance. The proposed torque control scheme for PMSM is verified by computer simulation.

  • This paper presents an improved direct torque control based on artificial neural networks technique. The major problem that is usually associated with DTC drive is the high torque(speed) ripple. To overcome this problem a torque hysteresis band with variable amplitude is proposed based on artificial neural networks. The artificial neural networks proposed controller is shown to be able to reducing the torque(speed) ripple and dependency on motor parameter and to improve performance DTC especially at high speed and reversal running.

  • Direct torque control (DTC) scheme provides a very quick torque response without the complex field-orientation block and inner current regulation loop. DTC is known as an appropriate scheme for high power induction motet drives because it can be used at lower switching frequency. There are two major drawbacks with the application of DTC schemes : one is large current harmonics due to flux drooping in a low speed range, the other is that the inverter switching frequency is varying according to motor parameters and operating speed. Switching devices in the power electronics drives should be supported for relatively high switching frequency. In this paper, a P-type fuzzy controller to realize the variable switching sector scheme and a PID-type fuzzy switching frequency regulator are adopted. A meaningful contribution of this paper is to propose a simple realization scheme of the fuzzy switching frequency regulator. Simulation results show the effectiveness of those propositions.

  • This paper presents an implementation of direct torque control(DTC) of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) with an efficiency optimization using the 32bit DSP TMS320C31. The influence of iron loss can not neglected as high speed and precision torque control of RSM, so the optimal current ration between torque current and exiting current analytically derived to drive RSM at maximum efficiency For RSM, torque dynamics can be maintained even with controlling the flux level because the generated torque is direct]y proportional to the stator current. The experimental results for an RSM are presented to validate the applicability of the proposed method. The developed control system is shown high efficiency features with 1.0Kw RSM having 2.57 ratio of d/q reluctance.

  • This paper presents a DTC-PWM(Direct Torque Control-Pluse Width Modulation) method of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using the flux-torque hysteresis band. In order to keep the flux and torque error of the PMSM within the hysteresis band, the optimal PWM duty ratio is calculated by the error of the flux and torque with the flux and torque vector of the selected voltage vector. According to the flux duty ratios and the torque duty ratios, the optimized duty ratio to reduce the errors is selected by the calculated duty ratios. In the proposed method, the selected voltage vector is divided into d-q axis components with a simple method. And the flux duty ratios and torque duty ratios are estimated by the applied voltage vector. The proposed DTC-PWM for PMSM was verified by computer simulation.
